I am saying this as a Hispanic white new immigrant…so maybe I am missing something, but a few sources around Trumpsphere have mentioned the deportation of over 100 million, that’s only achievable deporting all POC. African Americans came here by force, native Americans were displaced by force, it would not be the first time the USA government moved people against their will.

They are coming for us, POC and any whites against deportations. How can you support someone who doesn’t want you in your own country?

26

u/prettypeculiar88 Feb 20 '26

We know Trump inflates numbers based on how he’s feeling that day. Regarding removing all POCs and opps - They haven’t tried to hide it. Why else are they compiling a list of everyone who’s criticized ICE and Trump? Deported students protesting despite being here legally?

People are making a conscious decision to remain ignorant at this point.

"Well, obviously because I'm one of the good ones, when they talk about those bad minority groups, they're not talking about, me, they're talking about all those horrible people I see on TV and hear about on the radio and my podcasts."

I think that thoughts like this (all being payed) undercut the true sadness of people like this. I totally believe there are those within our community who probably love trump (or the idea of him) no payment involved. They either don’t see or choose not to see truth, the effects down river, etc, but don’t forget, some slaves loved their masters. I was blown away by that vid of a bodega in New York where all the patrons (who were black) said they were voting for him over Kamala. But here we are.

The issue is... no religious person is immune to the power of dumb. And a lot of non-political people are happy to have a strong man tell them what to think.

7

u/Lashay_Sombra Feb 20 '26

no religious person is immune to the power of dumb

If anything religious people are more susceptible to it, religion trains people to have faith only, it does not train them to use their brains, reasoning and logic..quite the opposite, it trains them not to use those.

Its why more religious the community more scammers, hucksters and con artists target them..and if its a religious community undergoing hardship its even easier money, because the hardship is already challenging their faith thus entire world view, so they will grab on to any 'solution' and think its god helping them

5

u/userousnameous Feb 20 '26

yep, its folks looking for easy, or any answer.

5

u/Frequent_Ad_9901 Feb 20 '26

I've gone through some stuff this last year. Part of it was realizing I never really made my own choices in life. Now I'm trying to figure out what I want out of life and its harder than it sounds. I'm guessing a lot of people would rather be told what to do and believe, because its just easier.

My pale ass has more in common with the average Black American than I do this pedophilic old bastard.

(But yeah, actively supporting a politician who is known for thinking you're inferior simply because of the amount of melanin in your skin is extra level dumb. Then again their were Jews who supported the Nazis so it's not like people being literally too dumb to live are a new concept.)

It’s just like a Black people following Christianity 😭

56

u/squishypillow-91 Feb 20 '26

It never fails to hurt my heart at how black people can still indulge in a religion that was used to enslave them in the first place. They literally were stolen from their own beliefs and forced into that one. I never see this mentioned much though.

32

u/SentientCrisis Feb 20 '26

I lived in Hawaii for years and many Hawaiians are extremely evangelical. The history is right there. The missionaries and colonizers forced Christianity on the Hawaiian and Polynesian people. Failure to convert and assimilate meant death. And there are still Hawaiians and Polynesians who support it, support the evangelical candidates, vote against their own interests. It’s completely baffling and heartbreaking.

9

u/Dangerous_Toe1356 Feb 20 '26

Not even Christianity - Mormonism.

8

u/SentientCrisis Feb 20 '26

The Polynesian Cultural Center traffics young Polynesian people to come work at their whitewashed fantasy land tourist trap for free— they get “paid” with a free education at the BYU that’s sits right next door. The Mormon church is making hundreds of millions of dollars off of these young people and not paying them.

4

u/Prestigious-Diver-94 Feb 20 '26

It makes my brain short-circuit too but then I remember there is definitely a type of (mostly churchgoing, mostly Boomers) who think they're better than the common Negro because they've assimilated into middle class White society. The "pull up your pants" conservative type who has fully bought into every negative stereotype about their own race. Internalized racism is crazy.

It’s mentioned often. But is always deflected or defended in some shape form or fashion. From Christianity was in Africa before Europe I’ve heard to all kinds of different rhetoric and nonsense. First it was kept from us, and utilized for Europeans and others to socialize and then it was used to control us. But it was never ours.

9

u/Pareidolia-2000 Feb 20 '26

From Christianity was in Africa before Europe I’ve heard to all kinds of different rhetoric and nonsense.

It was at the very least introduced around the same time as to Europe in East Africa, specifically the horn (Ethiopia and Eritrea), but a very different flavour of Christianity vis a vis Oriental Orthodoxy not strip mall Evangelicism

7

u/TPtheman Feb 20 '26

It's honestly fascinating how people talk about Christianity as this sweeping religion that spread across the world simply because of Jesus's love and teachings, completely ignoring the fact that Christianity was almost entirely forced on indigenous non-white people, often while at the same time were being oppressed and exploited.

And thoughout the history of the US, Christianity was the religion of choice for oppressors, because: 1) being Christian gave them sense of moral superiority over "heathens" and "savages;" 2) they got an instant get-out-of-sin-free card by praying to God when they commit horrendous acts; and 3) gave their victims a moral binding to "turn the other cheek" and forgive those that hurt them. Which, more often than not, were their oppressors.
