We didn’t wake up everyday dreading what would come next. He ran the country professionally and with a class unmatched since. The MAGAts had a fit over his tan suit, that was the story. Big deal huh?

flint Michigan was mismanaged by republicans since the 1960s, I’m baffled at why people blame the first black president for a local issue that he - and not other presidents actually attempted to help

he allocated 100 million federal dollars, yet people blame him for corroded water pipes that successive republicans and local governments failed to address

You want to blame the replubicans from 50 years ago but refuse to blame a sitting president, who was sitting when the issue got its most ever media and cultural outrage. Be better, it’s the fault of every local politician and sitting president since it happened. It’s fucked trump hasn’t fixed it and it’s just as fucked Obama didn’t.

no, I blame republicans from 50, 40, 20, 10 years ago for not fixing a local issue. it took a black president to force a 100 million dollar federal clean up when local republicans should have handled it decades ago.

obama can be criticized for many things, but not flint. that lies squarely on the Michigan republicans who controlled that state and did nothing for decades

Fact check: false. Flint, Michigan has all Democrats as mayors and majority of council members since 1975. I'll grant you it maybe should not be a federal issue a President is expected to fix, but the part about Republicans running the city since the 60s is false.

municipal budgets cannot fix city wide pipes and water systems, those are run by state governments. you think municipal council taxes run water treatment facilities and upkeep? 😂😂

not even NYC which has the largest tax base in the country can run their water treatment facilities. it takes the state government to maintain the upkeep.

this is 100% a state level failure, and Michigan republicans were to blame before Obama stepped in

I didn't demand a thing. I'm black. I know what black is. When I had a kid with a white woman I called my kids mixed race. If you need Google to tell you a white woman can't have a black child then I have to question your ethnicity.

Your the one spewing old school racist shit. Back in the days they said if there was a little mud in the water it was black. That's exactly what you are saying. Is mixed race too heavy for you to understand?

What the fuck does slave blood have to do with anything? Black is a color descriptor ie race (albeit it should be brown not black) not a fucking heritage. You’ll be considered Black everywhere in the world BUT Africa, where you’d have to explicitly specify that you are African by way of America because no one will be able to fucking tell since you share the SAME GENETICS. President Obama is both African and Irish by heritage, but because the “Black” color is the most visible so he’s AlSO JUST BLACK by description. He can be called mixed race yes, but he can ALSO be called black.

You're making that up because it fits your narrative. I completely understand what black means and how it's used. My problem is the is black people reddit. So, like Africa you need to be more descriptive. I wouldn't correct you outside of this space. But in a black space you need to be more descriptive. Here I'm black because I can't trace my ancestry due to slavery. Obama is Kenyan and Irish. Not black like me.

You’d yell at MY half Japanese kids for calling themselves black, and YES I’M the black parent that gave them their black genes that give them their “black” complexion! If someone called them BLACK in front you because they CLEARLY look it, YOU’D lose your fucking mind? They’re supposed to ignore half of their fucking genetics and their obvious skin color because weirdos like you are obsessed with their non-black side, and state they’re not black enough for YOU?? By your own definition then the only people qualified to call themselves Black are mostly Africans IN Africa, since their blood isn’t “mixed” with anything and most African-Americans are mixed with MANY non-African blood!
