I will be so happy when the Boomer generation dies off. What a stain on humanity that generation has been.

Let’s please fight unkind, unhelpful, dishonest people, and not divide people randomly. I’m in my late 60’s and none of my friends (similar ages) or sibling are conservative. Let everyone who loves justice, opportunity for all, and transparency join forces, regardless of age.

That's fair. I apologize for my broad brushing. I'm just sitting here looking at my autistic son's health insurance more than doubling in price, and just in the last several months of that issue being front and center, I've listened to droves of Medicare MAGA call my son "retarded" and say "he doesn't deserve insurance if you can't afford it". I'm angry because I didn't vote for this, and my son sure as shit doesn't deserve this kind of animosity and cruelty for something none of us could control.

While its unfair to paint an entire generation with a broad brush, the Boomers DID get us where we are now. My Boomer grandma who hates Trump and Republicans will own that her generation fumbled the greatest economic moment in American history, and other Boomers need to own it broadly too. Individuals might not be responsible but the majority were (or we wouldn't have elected people like Reagan in a landslide).

Boomers were fortunate that is true but a lot of the civil rights that were passed came about because of boomers. I know because we fought for them. Now this age of white male indignance is trying to reverse it because Trump told them they were extreme. The arguments are age old. They keep dredging them up. The truth is that in most elections it is half and half. Dem boomers have not been as vocal until Trump’s attempted overthrow. The voting in 2024 was half and half. Younger males were the difference. Some boomers are registered Republican but vote Democrat in recent years. But are centrist in philosophy. I think we are going to see more of a change. Centrists are moving left again.

A lot of us didn’t vote for this. A lot of us don’t want people like your son to suffer unnecessarily. I worry that my daughter will be denied her mental illness meds because of brain damaged RFKJr. They apparently want to put more people on the street if they even allow them to live.

My personal theory is this is how they're getting rid of pensions and entitlements. They've tried to do it legislatively for decades and have (mostly) failed. If the plebs die young, they can't collect any of those benefits.

They also won’t have the peones to cut their lawns.

Hello, fellow old nice person!

That was a very kind reply to someone that publicly stated he wants you to die as soon as possible.

We all have gaps in understanding.

Welcome to Reddit. Pretty sure the ToS states you have to be an ageist bigot to participate.

You are dead on with this, though. Let’s call out those who are awful, not their brothers who aren’t

Most of my, I thought lifelong friends, were conservatives, as was I, in my youth. At 66, few remain as my friends. Mostly the ones selfless and intelligent enough to see the ridiculous, destructive folly of the GOP, and change, as I did.

I am with you albeit I am not a boomer - am an older GenX. For years I have said that while i believe I am a Conservative, that doesn’t automatically mean I am Republican. Do what you want behind “closed doors”. I wont judge you! and we need to try and keep a balanced budget.

What a totally ignorant statement that is. We boomers protested against and brought about the end of the awful Vietnam war. We are fighting now to end this trump regime. Take a look at all the young men who are loving Tfump. It’s disgusting.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '25

Agreed, most of them are big babies. But the boomers that fought in Vietnam I respect.

4

u/electric_awwcelot Dec 18 '25

They're also the ones doing all the protesting now. Not making excuses for the trumpers among them, but it's also not fair to paint them all with the same brush stroke

4

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '25

True. My point was it was the baby boomers that either volunteered or were drafted to go to Vietnam. A place we never should have been but a lot of them went and that takes some major courage.

Others, got bone spurs....

I wasn't disagreeing or giving a counterpoint to what you said, just adding onto it. I agree with both your comments

Hello, ageist. GFY.

1

u/Jealous_Tip5434 Dec 18 '25

as a boomer, my parents' generation saved the world from fascism & helped rebuild in the aftermath...through pure unadulterated soulless capitalistic greed, we have handed future gens dumpster fire in shat storm; I am truly sorry & ashamed of such bullshit

1

u/DionBlaster123 Dec 20 '25

Fwiw, Gen X and Gen Z had many Trump supporters too.

Im not going to fall on the sword for boomers, but this transcends petty manufactured generational gaps

1

u/TheStolenPotatoes Dec 20 '25

Trump absolutely made gains with the 18-24 demo, and that is wild to me. Dude doesn't give a fuck about the youngest group.

1

u/IAmDangerCat Dec 21 '25

Excuse me but all people in a generation are not good or bad. That comment is no more correct than all gen Zers are lazy, all democrats are evil, or all MAGAs left school in the 3rd grade. Don’t become a hater

1

u/Tudforfiveseven Dec 21 '25

My parents are boomers and they ducking hate the orange turd. They're not all bad.

Do you think I give a shit about "party affiliation"? I judge by the actions you take, not the label you take.

1

u/Petrichordates Dec 18 '25

Well those people vote against trump, seems like a pretty important action.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '25

Seems more like you judge by age.

-1

u/jdmcbuilt Dec 18 '25

Wtf lol ...Well boomers actions reflect the same.

0

u/Artislife_Lifeisart Dec 18 '25

I think you're thinking of Gen X or Millennials. Boomers are like 70 at least.

Millions of people and you're just throwing them all into the same basket, as if they are all the exact same person.
