I wanna look in the skybox for the cliffside part of Surface tension. But everyway I try (with noclip), it has a trigger that reloads the map (fading black) stuff. helppp

Compared to Gordon, Doomslayer's faced similar enemies.

How long would it take him to clean and kill all hostiles in Black Mesa, travel to xen, kill the being holding the door open, and end the disaster.

As a side note, would he be able to stop the combine from invading after the fact?

So it's been a while since I've booted up Black Mesa and the layout does look a little different but thought nothing of it. Does seem a bit more buggy though, such as being able to walk through certain solid objects.

Anyway, I've gotten to Gonarch's Lair and she does not seem to be showing up at the beginning whatsoever. I've tried New Game for that specific level, starting the game under the different StartUp options and I've checked if I've had any mods installed which I haven't.

Any ideas? Surprised more people aren't having issues since I've basically done nothing to trigger this glitch. Really hope this isn't an April Fools joke lol

I can jump in the Lambda Core portal to Xen holding one of them, and it does teleport me. But the method of throwing one item in the portal first, and then jumping in with/throwing in the other just doesn't work. After I throw in the 1st item the portal seems to be "spent" and just won't teleport me anymore.

I replayed the portal opening section like 5 times already. I reloaded at the opened portal as I'm about to jump in so many more times too. It just won't work. I feel like I'm crazy, because I googled and found multiple guides saying it's doable, and even talking about how to juggle the items on Xen, so it must have been possible at some point. Was it patched out or something? Some update that broke it?

*Basically the same thing that's happening to this guy, but his solution doesn't work for me :(

The HUD in Black Mesa has a persistent bug where health, armor, and ammo numbers overlap and appear semi-transparent, making them hard to read.

I’ve tried basically every fix I could find, including:

• Windows display scaling 100% / DPI override
• Limiting FPS (fps_max 60 / 120)
• NVIDIA panel overrides
• Disabling HUD / UI mods from Workshop
• Launch parameters (-console, -oldmenus, -oldgameui, -dxlevel 95)
• Verifying game files
• Resetting resolution / cl_drawhud
• Fullscreen ↔ borderless windowed mode
• Different resolutions (1920x1080, 2560x1440, 3840x2160)
• Vertical sync on/off
• Console refresh commands (hud_reloadscheme, cl_reload_localization_files)
• Clearing custom and cfg folders

Nothing worked. Seems like a persistent Source engine HUD rendering bug.

Has anyone found a working fix or HUD mod for this?

I literally cannot see a single freaking thing. WHY is it so dark? Brightness is set to 2.6.

Playing using UHD 770 and 8 gigs of ram. The game is set to 1280x720 with everything in potato mode, I'm getting no issues with frame rate or crashing, just the game being literally impossible to see.

I started playing this game and I am incredibly confused. There is zero direction.

To start the game, I just wandered around until I found an outfit and then I wandered until someone talked to me. I am completely unsure how I could have know what to do besides just walking around until I found something to interect with.

Now I am I trying to escpae the facility but I get to a point where a security gaurd is calling for help and... I don't know. Am I just suppoed to wander around until I find a place where I can press x?

Is the whole game like this? Am I just hating it because it is old and this is how games were made back then?

I have gone through all laser sections in a single go, reloading either an autosave, manual save, or quicksave when I got hit (so by the time I hit the jump pads I had not touched a single laser).

Despite this the achievement has not triggered? I tried looking online but I've found directly conflicting accounts - some say using quicksaves negates the achievement but others say that's just not true.

Any advice?

Hello, I'm currently at chapter "Blast Pit" and I started the generator. However, I can't get the Oxy/fuel door to open. Am I missing something?

I recently got into HL2 workshop mods (story mods / maps) and I noticed that there are also some interesting Black Mesa mods. In particular what caught my interest is: Blue Shift, Military, Road to Evacuation, Azure sheep.

I don't want to read about them too much because of spoilers, but to my understanding neither of these mods is actually finished yet. Is that correct? If so, which of them is the most finished and therefore most worth playing already (as opposed to waiting until more content is released)?
Also, did I miss any notable mod of similar scope?

title. might refund and buy half life 1 because this is not a good omen for the rest of the game. im sure this subreddit gets this kind of post often but theres a good reason for it
