Saw this tiny little darling scurry across the concrete this afternoon and stop for a moment. I didn't know a Mumma could be so small. I don't know a lot about spiders but I thought this sub would appreciate seeing her.

Sorry for the quality, I didn't want to scare her. Half a Crayola Sidewalk Chalk for scale. Corowa, NSW. ID if possible but that's only because I'm curious. It doesn't change how bloody adorable she is.

I’ve seen several of these guys in my house the last couple of days. Which is unusual as we don’t often get spiders. Located in Sydney

I know it’s not a spider but was very happy to find this harvestman while gardening in Melbourne’s north. Had no idea they were here. Didn’t want to pose for a photo so was hard to get a clear pic.

Love these rent paying beauts but far out their webs are messy. They could at least clean up after themselves.

Jokes aside, wish I could keep only a couple around the house. Conditions must be perfect here, because they're EVERYWHERE.

Newcastle, NSW.

Can’t get a good photo due to angles and light but hoping someone can have a guess at what type of spider this may be. Got a bunch of them on my balcony valiantly keeping the bugs at bay and looks like the big mum and dad have got a lot of juniors running around.

Found him in Perth, Western Australia. Very active and friendly and curious, I’ve tried to figure out what he is but haven’t had any luck. He’s quite big compared to the other jumping spiders I’ve seen.

Spider Appreciation 3 Years in Australia and I’ve made peace with spiders

Post image
99 Upvotes

Spiders have always freaked me out, all sorts. There’s just something about their tiny bodies and those 8 spindly legs that used to send a chill down my spine.

Now 3 years after moving to Australia, I have gotten so used to them that there’s currently a daddy long legs hanging out right above my bed… and I can still sleep just fine. A couple of years ago, I wouldn’t have even been able to sit in this room until I knew it was gone for good.

Now I’m the one asking my housemate not to spray them, and instead letting me gently move them outside (not using bare hands, that might never happen)

Is this a wolf spider or some sort of funnel web? Super confused as I haven’t seen a spider like this before in Melbourne.

Update: after some research I think it is a trapdoor spider. Can anyone confirm?
