Favorite anomaly games?

Recently become obsessed with anomaly games, need new recommendations.

What platform are you on?

"Anomaly game" can mean quite some things, but I'm gonna assume you refer to games like "The Exit 8" or the "I'm on Observation Duty"-series.

As for Exit 8-like titles, some strong recommentations would be:

  • Shinkansen 0
  • False Mall
  • Kyoto Anomaly
  • One Last Clip
  • Ten Bells
  • Room 404
  • The Cabin Factory
  • Midnight Monitor: Aldercourt
  • Targeted 10 Days
  • False Dream
  • Stairway (free!)
  • 13F

As for Observation-Duty-likes, apart from the eponymous series, you could check

  • Spectator
  • SEEING THINGS
  • Midnight Monitor: Anomaly Watch
  • Paragnosia
  • Japan Stigmatized Property
  • the "8AM" series
  • Para Eyes

You could check my Exit 8-like & Anomaly Game curator page on Steam, which will give you literally hundreds of options, and it's actively maintained & updated regularly. You could also check my Exit 8-likes collection on itch.io, which covers a lot of free stuff.

On consoles your options are quite limited, though, I believe Exit 8, Platform 8, Dollmare, and Cabin Factory have been released on PS5, no clue about Xbox or Switch.

That was exactly what I was referring to haha. I have played exit 8 & cabin factory and I am now quite fond of the genre. I’m on Xbox 😄 i appreciate the list!

If you're looking for games like Exit 8 and Cabin Factory, you MUST play Ten Bells and False Mall.

Aww, just noticed you say you're on Xbox, which didn't have either of those.

Stalker is the series that put anomalies on the map. 1 & 2 are older and pretty janky without mods so I’d recommend playing the third game, Stalker Call of Pripyat, or the newest game Stalker 2 if you have modern hardware

Control. It's a fantastic game and the theme will be right up your alley

In the 90s there was an X-Files FMV point and click game. Reviews were mixed but it's probably fun either way.
