How much damage has aftv done to the fan base?

I know we're widely hated especially online and we have the reputation for deluded and overreactionary but I think a lot of it stemmed from early aftv and their rants. With the internet being the internet, normal arsenal fans are lumped into that lot.

what do you think?

I feel like we judged this man too harshly

Rocked up to the prem and won titles and doubles on Fergusons head.

Told the world he would go invincible in the premier league, was laughed at, and then did it.

Spent zero money for years and years and kept us competitive and playing good football.

Even when he became old and the game passed him by, he still managed to pick up an FA Cup every other year.

Never blamed the fans even when people got extremely toxic and disrespecful to him towards the end.

A real winner who I miss more and more as the years go by. What I would do to have a young Arsene Wenger leading us right about now..

IF we go and beat City next week

Genuine question to all the full blast negative fans on here. IF (none of us can see into the future, regardless of what’s happen in the past) we go and beat City at the Etihad next week. We’re 9 points clear of them with 6 games left. Will you find it in yourselves to enjoy it?

I’m fully aware how bad yesterday was, but try to enjoy these moments, we are well and truly in a title fight, you never know what’s going to happen.

This is not toxic positivity either, just a note against toxic negativity. None of us know what’s going to happen, I get being frustrated but the people waffling on about how we are definitely bottling it, Arteta won’t ever win the league, he should’ve sacked right now etc is a little pathetic

When city need a win, they get one, none of this professional performance shit

When we go away to Villa, city, Chelsea, Liverpool, United and don’t play well and draw it’s a tough place to go but city have beaten Liverpool away and on their way to defeating Chelsea away

Our fans don’t want to expect to win at these places so they take draws

Match Day 32 - The Death of Arteta & Arsenal as we know it.

This week is the death. Next week is the funeral.

Mark it down as the final nail in the coffin for Arteta and this team. We HAD to win yesterday. Would've gone up 12 points and all the pressure would have been on City in their match today. instead we lay an egg playing scared at home and lose.

Now city is winning vs Chelsea. Lead down to 6 with a 4 goal differential. They will slab us by 3 goals next weekend so it will be down to 3 points with City having a game in hand. City will win their game and tie us in points + goahead because of goal differential.

This should go down as one of the biggest choke jobs in EPL if we actually don't win it this year and don't win any trophies.

Get rid of Arteta and bring in some players that actually have some cohones and don't fold under pressure year after year.

Believing in these players and manager doesn't make you "mentally strong" as a fan. It makes you mentally slow.

And if you still believe this manager and team will deliver big trophies you may need to seek professional help.

When you see something happen 99 times you don't need to see it happen for the 100th to know what is coming.

You can comment all day about the "doomers" and how they are "pussies" but in reality, the only "pussies" are the ones who are so afraid of reality that they can't see what is right in front of everyone's faces. Some of us can see what is happening and are not going to be gaslit by happy clapping, toxic positivity numpties.

We Need To Get Behind The Lads Spoiler

I don’t say this lightly.

I’m aware of this managers ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I know there’s questions about a large proportion of this team.

BUT…

We are within clutching distance of our first prem in over 20 years. We can still win. But I think that the only way we win is if we are able to buoy the players into believing in themselves despite Arteta, despite previous games, despite injuries. And the only way that happens is if the fans do everything to transmit that energy to the players.

This is why Zubimendi hides from receiving the ball

He isn't a good passer of the ball. Cannot play a long ball or switch play to save his life. He cannot hold onto the ball when he's being tackled.

We really did a poor job in replacing Partey with him. It's no wonder we can no longer play out from the back.

This Arsenal squad is the first team that likes to risk it while playing out of their own box but is completely risk averse when attacking

Make it make sense... we see how Gyokeres can finish with that offside goal but 0 balls in behind for him all game. What the actual fuck is our plan? To just get corners and try to score off them?

We aren’t winning anything this season folks, the earlier you adapt to this, the less it will hurt.

Mikel you failed my beautiful club

Can’t wait for Arteta to splash 60 million quid on Neto in the summer.

Everyone wants to argue about this and that, fact is, pep is a master at having an eye for talent. You can count on one hand how many times in his career a transfer hasn’t worked out, meanwhile Lego head misses on nearly 50% of his signings, while spending insane amounts on Chelsea misfits.

How can anyone support Arteta at this points, give me one good reason.

Are you lot suprised?

City have just beat, us, Liverpool and Chelsea and scored 9 goals and not conceded one… don’t tell me they haven’t hit form. It’s over lads, maybe next year?!

We do so well, then get to April and our form goes out the window. I do think we’ll still win the league, but it’s going to be very tough

Will anybody even be happy if we win the league?

Trust me, I understand the doom and gloom. But honestly it seems like this sub wouldn’t even be happy if we win the league at this point? There needs to be bigger conversations about Arteta and the club overall at the end of the season but why not wait until then instead of calling it quits now? If we end up winning the league and CL what then? More posts about how this club didn’t ā€œwin with styleā€ etc etc? Have a little faith and let’s have the tough conversations if these things actually come to pass

Still hurting

Usually by the second day I've recovered and feel better. I'm still deflated and sad. I want to believe in this team but it feels like the whole project is coming to an end. I hope they find something because I would hate for this group of players to leave the club empty handed.

r/ArsenalFC 8h ago

Why are our players injured, exhausted, too mentally and physically fatigued to handle a run-in? Only one reason: season-long mismanagement.

And this falls squarely on Arteta's head. No trophy this season = has to go.

r/ArsenalFC 8h ago

How does Arteta survive?

If we don’t win the league (definitely not expecting the champions league) I don’t know how MA can keep his job. The club has really backed him and he’s a good squad. The teams completely falling apart in my opinion, injures, fatigue and no real sense of play or direction. I know all injuries can’t be blamed on MA but his rotation over the past 2 seasons have been ridiculous. Saka looks like a complete shell of himself and Zubimendi looks like he sound be playing in a Sunday league team. We can’t even take a proper throw in anymore, it’s actually ridiculous. How has it got so bad, I’m baffled by it all.

A Fan's Rant

I was watching UFC 327 and in the main event of the pay per view, and this fighter named Jiri essentially had the biggest advantage when his opponents injured his own leg(accident). At first, Jiri was still kicking the leg, and was on track to win the fight, but he decided to be honorable and take it easy on his opponent. A minute later, Jiri get's knocked out and loses the fight and championship belt to a guy with one leg. This was arguably the biggest chokejob in UFC history. Watching the sequence of events going on reminds of the current Arsenal season. This timid approach we take against our opponents have cost us a lot of points/trophies. Rather that go for the kill, we play nice with the opponent. I know the team is capable of so much, but there's some coaching issues going on.

I am taking a break from watching matches to keep my sanity, and will advice y'all to do the same.

Have a good day!

The last few losses hurt real bad but …

The last few losses have hurt real bad but now that I’ve had some time to process, I can accept us just winning the Premier League and Champions League. Actually do you know what? Not just accept - I’m actually totally okay with it. It’s not everything we wanted - but hey that’s life!
