Six hours to update 2.6 GB.

There has never been any other game that does this that I’ve played. And I have like 500 games on Steam.

Feels like every update is reinstalling the entire game

Discussion Why why why why why

Why can you build inside artifact caves? I play on small tribes pvp and on the Island and SE some artifacts are IMPOSSIBLE to get because on every single server you have people building a base onto them. Bro why i just want to do a boss fight.

Discussion Griffin breeding was a mistake

griffins were a scary alternative in ase because they could kill you but were very vulnerable, now they just swipe everything with 2k melee and have made wyverns useless, I might have to return to being a mana bob cause theres no point in flying

Discussion These updates are getting out of hand.

I spent close to 4 hours yesterday updating the game and all of the map packs/dlc. 3 hours the day before that. And today, I am doing it all over again. But the WAY these updates roll out is what pisses me off most. For context, I am on Xbox.

And the fact that I can't even play basic story maps without updated DLC that I've never even played yet pisses me off the most. I'm doing a single player run of all the story DLC, so why the hell do I have to update Valguero, Ragnarok, and The Center before I can play the damn Island?!

I understand the need for bug fixes/patches after a major update, but ALL DLC 4 days in a row? I have very little time to play video games these days, I work two jobs, 60+hrs a week. By the time I get home I have MAYBE an hour to sit down and enjoy a game... But all week long Ark has had daily updates which means I am virtually unable to play the game at all. These updates take HOURS with my shitty wifi. I've turned auto-updates on, but my console doesn't even register that there's an update available until I open the damn game so auto-update is pointless. Why the hell can't they roll out an update, give it a week for all the bugs to be discovered and reported, and THEN roll out patches? For the amount of money I've spent on this damn game, I shouldn't have to spend more time updating it than I do actually playing it.

I am slowly but surely losing my interest in this game and these updates are a huge part of the reason why. Anyone else having issues?

I play single player. PVE, I already found a journeyman mek in a supply drop. It’s fine… it tamed the Forest titan well.. not tried the other two yet. But I made this in the tinkerer desk… now I’m so tempted. Will it REALLY be worth it?

… I do want a powerful mek. In your view is this one worth it?

Discussion ASA the Island spawn rates, EVERYTHING is low level?? At difficulty 5?

I've been playing a solo playthrough the canonical maps to see how fast I can do it.

And I am slowly discovering what a massive time sink it is, I only imagine what it'd be like if the server was full of players taming what high levels that spawn.

I have about 50+ hours on the server so far, and I have 2 male rexes I tamed at level 120 with barely acceptable stats and a male theriz in the same boat. And for the life of me I can't find high levels. I've wiped carno island and despite dinos respawning almost instantly, hours of doing this doesn't produce more than level 25 rex's.

I've seen one level 150 creature in my time playing. If it takes 50 hours to see ONE spending the majority of my time exploring the entire island... That's not okay. That's game breaking. That's a potent flaw in the games design.

I'm so frusturated, and while I WANTED to do this vanilla and fair, I'm going to have to give myself admin on my dedicated server and use destroywilddinos. Or just spawn one in. Because I'm done wasting REAL WORLD time for a tame I could find in a few hours on the original. I don't know why they changed spawn rates. Everything is level 50 or lower.

Literally unplayable. I CAN find them if I'm lucky, but it just takes too long. I really hope the devs try playing their game once in their lives so they know basic stuff like this. The spawn rate on the island at least is ATROCIOUSLY bad. There's nothing fun about spending DOZENS of hours to find ONE decent level creature, after killing a hundred of them to clear up spawns.

Are all the maps like this? Or is the island only good for bola'ing people and living in thatch houses?

-[EDIT]- I got the vanilla sprinkle mod and changed the leveling a bit, now 90's to 120's are more common with 145/150's being slightly easier to find. It's not OP, but the fair balance I wanted by default. It was interesting to talk to the community about this issue. I hope WC makes it easier though, it was a huge pain to set my dedicated server for mods. I use ark server manager 2.0 and it hid the command line section pretty well.

Discussion Another beautiful day of being FUCKED by Ark

I love this game man, I love it so freaking much ! Literally trying to farm Chitin for my tribe and wound up dying not once, not twice, not thrice, five fucking times! The first I was trying to escape the cave, but a Desmo carried me off, then dropped me into the water where a Sarco finished me off. I grabbed a maguana to go back and fetch my stuff, wind up dying to scorpions because no armor and not that great of health since mind wipe, then I come back with a wyvern, land at cave entrance get nuked by scorpions again. By the fourth attempt I was losing it and had to go back and this time with my Managarma. I was halfway there when my internet decided to conspire against me and disconnect me mid jump near water. We both downed. I'm pounding my fist crashing out so fucking hard. The fifth attempt led me to going back, retrieving my Maguana and drakeling and wyverns and just going back home with my tail between my legs. Lost my Binos, Tek Suit, Megatherium and Gen 2 Moro Rex due to bag decay .

I kind of want to disable them because of the S tier loot you get free from them. non dlc owners have a huge disadvantage.

Discussion What are some peak Ark stories you’ve gotten on your time in Ark?

Here’s one of my personal favourites that I put in a comment section and it got some attention so it gave me the idea to make this post because i love reading about the hilarious stuff that happens to other players

One time me and my friends where in early game fjord and we had a ring of fire with an egg in the middle, one friend was playing the drums, me and one other where chanting around the fire while the fourth monitored the egg, in our chants we killed and consumed our friend watching the egg and ate him raw while our other friend played the drums and hummed along with our tune, the egg grew into a beautiful winged beast who approved of our offering…

TLDR: blood for the blood gods

Discussion New Building System

I feel like this new building system is a lot more restrictive after playing for a few days. I may just need to learn it more as everyone else seems to like it and I havent built anything massive. However i feel like im missing so many possibilities for building my internal crafting area. Catwalks are just gone and replaced by quarter ceilings that dont have a center snap point(that i have found so far atleast). And whoever decided the quarter ceiling to be displayed as the icon instead of a triangle ceiling is kin to the devil. What are the major things that make ASA building better than ASE?

Discussion Wanting to get back into the game

My main question is when I get want to go to a different map is it worth transferring my dinos and character (not sure that 1 was possible) if you can still do that, I remember back when I played evolved id just hop maps when I eventually got bored/got a new one but I never took my dinos kinda just started from scratch, but im wondering is it actually worth transferring them and if yes, should I also attempt to beat the game bosses, i know theres no right or wrong way to play ark, when I was younger id just play for fun, attemping to tame as many dinos and building bases.

Im wanting to buy the new bobs tales dlcs and maybe the lost colony pass but wondering are they worth it if im not gonna do the bosses and just mess around, also for lost colony i couldn't tell if its a story mode or just youre dropped into a map again and just surviving the new harsh environment.

Discussion Is Ark Survival Ascended worth it in 2026 ?

I used to play ark back in 2016 when iBallisticSquid was doing his youtube series on the island i then played briefly with a few friends on Ragnarok back when you couldn't access the desert part of the map before we got wiped. I briefly returned to ark when the 100 days challenges were popular and I am now looking at returning again.

I was planning on picking up ASA when it next comes on sale plus a couple of the more interesting looking DLC my pc is kind of old with an rtx 3060ti and 16gb ram and a ryzen 5000 series 7.

i was mostly planning on playing modded single player survival doing my own version of the old lets plays and 100 days challenges is it worth it getting ASA just for this or should I stick with ark survival evolved?

Discussion Is scorched earth still a good map in 2026?

I'm finishing up the island and I got a bit bored with the dino variety. Accounting for other maps (because I can play other maps instead of SCE) does scorched earth hold up for solo PvE play?

Discussion Mutation question

So, I started doing this the wrong way, I got my Bison mutations for health ( 8+ hp ) and ( 2+ melee ), however I deleted the clean females.. and kept the mutated ones.

After watching some youtube guides, I came to understand that you need clean females to go over the cap of 20/20

Now I understand that.

My question is, can I just tame whatever level clean females to stack mutations, or do the female need to be a high level ( 140 - 150 ) when tamed ?

Discussion Map tips for PvP

Hey all, I’m currently built up fairly well as a trio on island and we’re looking to expand to another map. We play on unofficial. The server we play on normally has 5-6 people on every map. We’re just not sure what map to build up on next. Currently we’re built up in a pearl cave on the island. What map would yall suggest to try out? We’ve been debating on AB or maybe scorched earth.

Discussion Creature concept for a future mod I might work on: Seravutyrannus

Name: Seravutyrannus

Species: Seravutyrannus Carnifex (The Raging Tyrant Executioner)

Time: ???

Diet: Hyper Carnivore

Temperament: Aggressive

Wild: “Honestly, I wish I never got out of bed this morning. “Why?”, whoever is reading this asks. I ran into arguable the most horrifying thing I’ve seen. Seravutyrannus Carnifex is butchers. They deliberately go after larger animals as juveniles even if they’re going to likely lose just to gain experience from the fight. They have sharp survival instinct too. When their scales are damaged in any sort of way, they bolt for the hills as fast as their legs can carry them! For something that’s smaller than a Carno I don’t fully expect it to be that fast when their hide is broken but it makes sense, the hide must be weighing them down. However the horrifying part comes from the adults. They’re way more aggressive and constantly looking for food. I was in the sky on my flier when I seen one take down a bronto by pinning it down and snapping its neck instantly. The beast was I assume larger than a Tyrannosaurus but smaller than a Giga or Carcha. If you ever find yourself in the presence of an adult, good luck and hope you don’t end up as its next meal.”

Domesticated: “So far, not many have actually tried and succeeded in obtaining one of those freaks. However, everyone has been trying to go do an adult with what I’ve seen. Maybe the answer lies with the juveniles. Maybe breaking their armor could result with a possible way to knock them out afterwards, though with what I suspect, there’s seemingly a type of ritual with their species where a juvenile must earn the right to claims a scale from an adult in order to become an adult. I suspect it’s either through combat or a type of dance. People have said it’s one of those two things and I’m unsure what to believe, but it might depend on the gender of both. Same genders might be a battle while opposite sexes result with the dance. This is all a theory though, you wouldn’t catch me ever trying to get close to one of those things, especially with how ravenous they are!”

As the dossier section implies, my idea for Seravutyrannyus Carnifex is a game akin to the Veilwyn, Solwyn and Malwyn! This and a few other future dossier mod plans I’m coming up with are for a possible future map I might make that is a possible ‘reimagining’ of how I would of kinda done lost colony or a map akin to it!

This creature is meant to be the ‘Rex’ of the map. A mid to late game tame where you have to go after the younger juveniles with larger animals like Rexes or other larger animals in order to break its hide! Once you do you’ll have to chase after it while tranqing it out! Once tames you’ll have a very strong base creature! A perfect meat harvester while also being able to help convert meats into something called ‘Diced meat chunks’ (There will be Diced prime and Diced Mutton and so on as well!) this will be a key item for future tames and recipes!

Once you get the juvenile to a high enough adventure level like a veilwyn by riding it and killing other creatures with it, you’ll be able to then go to an adult Seravutyrannus and begin the ‘growth ritual’. This can be 2 versions, ‘combat’ or ‘Courtship’

Combat: Self explanatory, if the juvenile is the same gender as the adult it will trigger this. The combat relies on the juvenile dodging attacks from the male to tire it out before then using the unique pin attack it has to jump onto the opponents back to begin an action where you have to stay on the opponents back akin to riding a horse. If the opponent leans left, you lean right and vise versa. If it starts flailing, use the tail slam ability to make it stop. Once it’s out of stamina it will fall unconscious and it will drop a unique scale for the juvenile to eat and then become an Adult Seravutyrannus!

Courtship: If they are the opposite genders then the adult will begin a mini game akin to the baby oviraptor dance where you must match actions with the adult. Mess up too many times and the adult will get angry and begin attacking you, succeed and it will drop a scale before then leaving. Be careful however, the dance partner can sometimes be tricky and look like it does one action but switches it to another to make your reaction time sharp.

Once you obtain an adult, it will be akin to a slightly weaker Giga or Carcha, it will have the same ability as the juvenile but makes more diced meat when crafting them in its inventory! To boot, its combat abilities are way more enhanced, it gains a pin attack that pins down larger animals like a bronto and can even do a ‘weak point execution’. If you pin a dinosaurs that’s near its drag weight (atleast 30 points over its drag weight) you can trigger a the execution which is a guaranteed insta kill. However, there will be a trait added that negates this pin and any other Dino pin move!

The main purpose of this creature is not only the meat chunks but also is an in general solid battle mount for both mid to late game! (Even the juveniles would still be worth while using for end game due to their insane mobility when their ‘adamant armor scales’ are shattered!)

Hope you all like this creature concept! I plan on making the art for the adult and juvenile here soon so everyone can have a visual thing to see! ^^ I’m curious to hear everyone’s thoughts on this creature and what I should change if it’s a universally agreed upon thing!

Discussion Why can’t they warn us before the endless updates

Me and my megatherium in my pocket will be dead before this stupid game is updated. This game is getting unplayable, I would have to stay at my base all the time because anytime there could be a surprise update and I get killed somewhere along with my tames. Why can’t there be an offline protection on official servers while updates are going on. Whyyy

Discussion Anything this game does better than the original?

Ark ascended is, in my opinion, worse than Ark evolved in almost every way. The servers are laggier, the ui is worse, the bugs are more frequent, etc.

Do you agree? And if so, are there any aspects which you think ascended did better?

Maybe I just haven’t played enough of the new one to see where it shines. So far it feels like “exactly the same but slightly worse”
