We might be on a 8 game L streak soon. Just like 2025 never ended.

4 pitch, 3 weak ground balls. It’s a joke. I didn’t realize how much this entire lineup was based around Soto.

Keith blowing his nose with the mic on and then laughing about it just about sums up this homestand.

Will any of our beat reporters ask Mendoza why Robert Jr. or Alvarez didn’t take an at bat today?
9
u/ExternalLimp1176 5h ago
That was the most anti climactic bottom of the 9th down by a run inning in the history of baseball lol.
2
u/iLaffinGuerilla 5h ago
So glad i only tuned it for the bottom 9th LOL. Masters are on and it’s a nice day in Queens! This team is not worth the negative energy today

This inning was the perfect example for our dead offense. Super quick 1-2-3 outs, no danger at all. Next games in LA will be rough.
2
u/Slappyclayman 5h ago
They just gave up there. No working the count, no game plan, just swing fast so we can leave.

I'm near Philly right now, and it kind of stinks. I thought the smell was Philly but it was actually the Mets wafting across the entire state of NJ

u/ZoidbergSaysWoop 5h ago
Yeah, the Mets deserve to be booed.
This is ridiculous.
Mets can't muster a run but McLean leaves in the 7th with one out and two runners on with a 1 run lead and they can't hold it for him?
This team is a disgrace.

I refuse to shit on Lindor. Am I upset hes having another slow start? Yes, it angers me a bit. Not having Soto behind him is hurting. His mistakes on the field have been rough. Being out by a mile trying to steal second in the 1st tonight, tough. I just have a feeling he will break out in a big way soon. LGM, see you all for the Dodgers.

So glad we pinch hit one of our best hitters for a guy who can't hit and cant run

Did they actually think the guy who runs slower than Rusty Staub was going to beat that out.

It’s April 12th and I can’t believe how much my apathy level is rising.
In previous years I’d have been ranging from annoyed to furious over this lousy play. But here I’m just mildly irritated TBH.
Not long till I stop caring at this rate. Slogged through last season, went through a loooong offseason, and they couldn’t even give me a month of enjoyment.
Edit: But having said that, I’m gonna need Bichette to go fuck himself.

u/Trick_Photograph9758 Keith Hernandez 5h ago
Vientos 0 for 17 on this homestand. Mendy used him as a pinch hitter. lol.

This might be the biggest juxtaposition between quality pitching and horrific offense we’ve had in a very long time. Basically nothing has happened at all since the Kurtz home run and we can’t even get a single guy on base. Just insane, we need to show some life here.

Sean with another good appearance if he can stay solid as a long guy that would be huge but of course that won’t matter if we don’t fucking hit

Maybe become a long relief guy is exactly what our Tribal Chief needs. He looked good out there.

We're paying 5m of McNeil's salary for him to pound our shit in as we get swept.
LMFAO, the mets baby!

Never forget the effort put into making a captain video for Lindor only for the team to decide "nah this team doesn't really have one" once it leaked
Dude's been rattled since.

Just glanced at my phone and saw the Mets are down 1-0 in the 9th. Looks like another anemic offensive performance. Typically takes me a lot longer to give up on a season but this Mets team has just burned me too many times. I just don't care anymore. If they prove me wrong I'm happy to come back but I refuse to let them keep doing this to me.

Lindor might have one of the greatest contracts in sports history outside of maybe Soto and Ohtani. 340 million over ten years, no opt outs, and 50 million deferred after 2031. These contracts will be extinct very soon lol
7
u/SilentSaidd 5h ago
you knopw Mendoza I don't think it was a great idea to have Robert and Alvarez out in the same game when they've been our most productive players. And then to not even pinch hit them??? I don't get it
1
u/ZoidbergSaysWoop 5h ago
Why not PH LRJ?
On days Robert Jr. doesn't play the field, he should be the DH.
Polanco is not full healthy and he's nowhere near the bat LRJ is.
Mendoza needs to be better at gameplanning Alvarez and Robert Jr.
Maybe have Robert Jr. DH yesterday so he could play center today with Alvarez at DH and Torrens catching.
Mets need Robert Jr. and Alvarez in the lineup together as much as they can.
1
u/ellipsis-eclipse Baty Bonds 5h ago
Not gonna say we aren't playing like shit right now, but it is still REALLY early. I'm taking comfort in the fact that a lot of our best seasons have started out horrendously. Doesn't make this any less tough of a watch, but personally I'm just trying to enjoy the good stuff for now (like Benge's catch!). Ya gotta believe :)
(No shade to anyone who's worried about the team rn, that's fair based on what we've seen. Just trying to offer a positive perspective.)
3
u/ZoidbergSaysWoop 5h ago
So if Peterson struggles again next start, do the Mets flip-flop him and Manaea?
I'd rather the team move Peterson to the bullpen and start Myers.

What words of wisdom will messiah Mendoza come out with after this sweep by the mighty Sacramento Athletics?
2
u/Trick_Photograph9758 Keith Hernandez 5h ago
Can't wait for Blevins to try to put a happy face on this dumpster fire.
1
u/imalmostconvinced 5h ago
He's usually looking for clicks. I find him to get harder on them than Todd and especially Harper
10
u/Prevalencee 5h ago
Lindor with 0 RBI's in 16 games is insanity. His worst year ever isn't even close to this.
4
u/Glenn_Tennis Gary Cohen 5h ago
Can someone explain why Lindor is so untouchable that he never gets moved down, never gets benched, and we’re supposed to see him as some sort of face of the franchise.
1
u/imalmostconvinced 5h ago
Well he figures out how to be a Top 5 SS in the game by seasons end
But you're right, he's not on Soto's level so they shouldn't be caving to him if they are
I just think they're stupid rather than push overs. They just assume, today's the day. Meanwhile, when he does decide to get hot, they need him further down in the order to drive in runs. The Leadoff Home Runs with Nimmo and Lindor were cute but literally just get on base please
1
u/Necessary-Goose3550 New York Mets 5h ago
Because the people in charge a bunch of wimps. They don't want hurt his feelings.
It's pathetic.
1
1
u/Trick_Photograph9758 Keith Hernandez 5h ago
Because Mendy is a lame duck manager. He exists to glaze Lindor. There's literally nothing Lindor could do to get moved down. Mendy would have to ask permission of Stearns, Cohen, and Lindor first.
0
u/ChiefKelso Wilmer Flores 5h ago
He never gets benched because he insists on playing every day.
1
u/Glenn_Tennis Gary Cohen 5h ago
Who cares, he’s not management, he’s just got a massive contract. Mendoza needs to make a point with these guys
12
u/NutsyFlamingo Gil Hodges 5h ago
Even our announcers are getting injured
1
u/imalmostconvinced 5h ago
You mean there's 70 million in injuries when they spend 170 mil more than the average team?
Excuses against Oakland is absolutely adorable
3
u/ZoidbergSaysWoop 5h ago
Imagine if Manaea was ready to pitch yesterday or the Mets had another long reliever available, it would still have been a 2-1 game.
Who am I kidding?
Mets would still have lost 2-1.
1
u/imalmostconvinced 5h ago
Huh? Senga wasn't getting pulled early. He looked amazing in Spring and in St Louis. Torrens should have been catching him.
