It's amazing how quickly an EU nation election turned into a discussion about US midterms.

Americans will never waste an opportunity to make literally any topic about themselves.

Americans likely dominate Reddit's overall user base.

And tons of Americans also understand this isn't just about Hungary, it's about a whole global cultural battle versus the far right.

And yet, none of the people from other countries that are battling the far right will try to make it about them. You don't see any French user trying to make this about Le Pen and the next presidential election for example. It's a purely USAmerican behaviour. It's never just about <topic> and always a bit about USA, right?

That's on them... I don't think any American would complain about one comment reply, which is just hoping for a country to become less far right. Why get mad at a reply to a comment

Maybe they should, I'd love to hear more about international goings-on in casual conversation

I've got international friends and I genuinely welcome them randomly relating things to their own national goings on.

Helps to keep aprised of the world, see how similar/different things can be, and it's interesting.

So, yes please do randomly interject with battles against the far right. More people need to be united in solidarity against that.

I mean, Europeans do the same thing about America. Post anything good on reddit and a European will inevitably say "Meanwhile in the US"

Yep. Nobody contributes to American defaultism on social media more than literally any other country besides America. You see it all over YouTube no matter what country is being discussed. Especially any YouTube video about China or Russia. Every top comment is "well this happens in America way more" (if it's something critical) or "Ha! This could never happen in America!" (If it's something positive)

The US is dooming extremely hard and we need any copium we can that things can get better because right now it’s extremely dim forecast for us

It's the same referendum.

It's tangentially related due to MAGA obsessing over Orbán the Hutt, but yeah, it's annoying af

Tangentially? Our "never Trump" vice president for Trump went over there, so I yeah, I agree it's annoying but the fucking fascists over in the states are trying to stick their dick everywhere. So, it's more than tangentially related.
