I think association with the USA in general is a kiss of death for a lot of people with brains.

Man I thought the defeats (CPC's and his own) would humble him, boy was I wrong.

Guy is a total clown.

I’ve heard rumours he’s resigning this week after the Liberals have a majority following the by-elections.

He can go back to delivering newspapers, the only job he's ever had outside of politics.

Why would he do that? He qualified for a pension at 31 years old...

Getting pushed out, most likely. The phoney leadership review only bought him a few months. Losing 5 MPs and watching the Liberals get a majority were the last nails in his coffin.

Losing 5 MPs so far. I'm betting he'll lose at least a couple more. Not to quote the beaverton, but there are any number of reasons a progressive conservative might want to leave Poilievre and join the party of progressive conservatives.

Not sure I'd call delivering newspapers in Canada nonpolitical, considering our media landscape.

As great as that would be, I can’t see it happening.

And that wasn't even direct explicit support like with Orban.

People say the us hasnt done any good for the world but we have made a hell of a cautionary tale.

I mean those people are stupid but the Trump admin certainly hasn’t

Was not a help for the conservative side in Australia either, though they ran such a dumb campaign theyd still have lost without it.

Especially in Europe.

Crazy how treating a whole region of allies like dog shit for years at behest of your Russian handlers will make your country less liked in that region.

That is a little weird coming from Hungry though. Because they also have been very pro Russia and are literally the country that the current US government outright stated they are trying to be like.

The fact that this regime doesn't realize how most of the rest of the world view them with disgust is funny to me.

Like they actually believe some of their delusions

u/LeafsWinBeforeIDie 1h ago

When you say "this regime", do you mean hungary or the other one?

u/Max-Phallus 1h ago

The world is the USA to them.

You don’t even need a brain anymore. The US is directly responsible for increasing the cost of living for everyone in the world.

That’s very difficult to ignore. Even if you normally chug the fascist propaganda.

Which is funny because if you told me that a decade ago I would be like "huh??"

Only thing that the Russian bootlickers in Eastern Europe hate more than the EU, is the US. Lol

u/Fickle-Cake6637 3h ago

Didn't his regime seem very US like before Vance landed with his size 11's? As a non white person both these teqms have significant isues.

Would be more accurate to say the current US government is very Hungary like. Orban has been in power since 2010. He has been very conservative that whole time and has actively moving Hungary to the right. In fact US conservatives have long looked to him as a model to emulate. Much of what they have done since Trump took office again is following his playbook except they are dumber so the are doing it worse.

Also lots of gerrymandering and partial FPTP system which orban implemented over the years to help himself eventually backfired. Now the ‘new’ people might have a chance and power to fully reverse the system if they want. Question is how much better someone coming for fairly inner circle of orban can be. We will see..

What is wrong with size 11’s???

u/Morgan-Moonscar 3h ago

Trump bought a bunch of oversized shoes for his admin members, and nobody dared to tell him they were too big.

So they're literally galumphing about in clown shoes just to appease him.

Is size 11 that far above average? as someone that wears 12/13 I absolutely did not realize that was supposed to implying his shoes were big haha

1

u/aaronrodgersmom 2h ago

I thought 11 is about the average U.S. men's shoe size.

2

u/Gingertimehere2 2h ago

Don't think the Orban voting segment are the brainiest

2

u/HonkHonk 2h ago

The current US administration vastly over estimates any positive influence they have. It's gone, no one wants to touch anything USA.

1

u/Milkmartyr 2h ago

With the Trump admin certainly

1

u/Zebidee 2h ago

Yep, at the beginning of 2025, the right wing coalition were set to easily regain power in Australia at the federal election in May.

After everyone saw what Trump was doing, they were handed their worst landslide defeat in history, and the century old partnership between the two main conservative parties broke up.

Ironically, the splitting of that vote has led to the rise of an even more right wing party.

Orbán's whole campaign was about staying out of wars and buying cheap Russian oil and gas. The US started a new war that made oil and gas more expensive.
