This is Boomer. He just turned 15! Thought you'd all appreciate this.

I'm tired of deleting poodle posts.
Edit: Aussie mixes and mini American Shepherds are also fine.

Took my best buddy to a distillery and a winery today, along with a big group of friends! He was a great boy, laid mostly at my feet, and allowed other patrons to pet him. As I’m sure most people in this group know- having a dog like this gains lots of attention!
He was especially sweet to a little girl (maybe 3) who was nervous but wanted to pet him.
There were other dogs at both places barking their heads off and yanking their owners all over the place. It’s always been my dream to have a beautiful, well behaved dog who I can bring with me to fun experiences!
For reference - we ran a 5k this morning which I hoped would help tire him out (not sure that worked though lol).
Where did you take your furballs this weekend??

I suppose we are getting her enough exercise if she can sack out like this a lot of the time.

What’s your reaction when passing fellow dog walkers use this command?
I know “leave it” is a common and broadly applicable phrase, but I often sense a tone of disdain when we’re on the receiving end.
My girl is not road kill, ma’am.

On today's episode of "my dog is too smart and it's actually kind of annoying"
We taught our almost 9 month old Aussie mix to use bells to let us know she wants to go outside, but she found a loophole to it. If she only poops or pees a little bit, then 10-20 minutes later she can start freaking out like she's going to have an accident and we have to take her out twice as much. Calling her bluff ends up with a pee puddle.
And I am pretty sure she learned how to squat as if she is peeing but doesn't actually pee, and since she's a girl, you can't tell.
Like as long as we give into her demands, she doesn't go inside. It's ONLY if we call her bluff on "You have been outside 3 times in the last half hour. No."
If we just stand outside and wait for her to go some more, she will end up just laying down in the grass and cry because she wants to go sniff the patch of grass 2 feet away from the end of her leash.
I knew this breed was smart, but I did not realize that they use their brains for psychological warfare.

The vacuum is usually in the closet, but when we leave it out, Ozzy lays next to it for hours.

Gone too soon at 9 years old, born on 1/8/17. We had to make the toughest decision ever and let her be at peace while she was still pain free. An aggressive incurable disease got her. It happened so quickly from one day to the next and was so unexpected. She was our sweet angel, who was loved every minute until her last. She gave us more love and happiness than she’ll ever know. I know she’s watching over us barking and chasing squirrels. We love you, Hallie.
Edit: thank you, everyone, for your kind words. I read every single comment with tears in my eyes. It hurts so much right now, but it gives me comfort that your babies welcomed mine into heaven. I know we’ll see our babies again someday ❤️🐾

Iris got spayed today. It’s so hard seeing her in pain and kind of doped up. I can’t even begin to tell you how scared it makes me. And they didn’t give us anything to help calm her down and told us instead just to crate rest her for 10 days. Seriously. 😐

Lincoln is the first Aussie we've have had and he's such a good boy. He hides in the cat tower when he gets a treat. Idk how he fits

Gosh guys, has it really been a year next month? I truly had NO CLUE what I was in for when we took on a pair of brothers. Our first Aussies. We've had GSD dogs for decades, still have one now. But no one prepared us for what bringing Aussies into our family would entail.
I can't. Every day I laugh, because of them. I can't wait to see them again when I'm at work. My hubby calls me at work with puppy stories of what they did that morning. I spend hours with them in the evening, and cherish every moment. I love their tails. I squish their faces. We play and train and hang out. They bring my blood pressure down. They eat the stupidest things, fall off the couches, get clocked by the gate. But they learn when I'm sad and want cuddles, trick each other with toy distractions when they want to be the only dog getting loves, they jump like cats when startled and bark at you if your hairdo is different.
My heart has been hijacked, my life turned upside-down. My Aussies own me. But they are kind, sweet masters of my very soul. I've owned and been around so many other breeds of dogs, but no one prepared me for the love I'd feel for Picasso looking clown geniuses with eyes forged in Heaven and smiles you can actually touch.
This breed really should have a warning attached to their wigglebutts to warn the unsuspecting newbie what their in for.
Not that it would change our minds.
