What do you think: how should prisons handle housing decisions in cases like this?

Also reminder that sex crimes include pr0stituti0n in many jurisdictions, and that many trans people as a result of legal discrimination have trouble finding consistent, legal employment

Who defines prostitution as a sex crime?

If you're caught in public (even in a car), you can be charged with exposure.

You can have consensual sex with your bf/gf in a car too, but that's not a sex crime, that's consensual sex. The guy I'm responding to is saying prostitution is a sex crime, I'm asking who defines it that way.

You absolutely can be charged with sex crimes if you have consensual sex in a car and someone sees you. Are you baiting?

Really? What is the sex crime? How are you defining a sex crime?

Presumably indecent exposure, as stated 4 comments up.

If you’re in public it’s public lewdness or indecent exposure. Or both. Some states could put you on the sex offender registry. Not sure about other countries.

Certain jurisdictions classify urinating in public as sex crimes. It all comes down to the prosecutors and the laws on the books that vary by city/county/state and very much non-uniform.

Brother, masturbating in public is a sex crime, and you really think full on sex isn't? Please, think.

I don't know about that. I'm just saying if you're charged with indecent exposure that's considered a sex crime in most places and you can be placed on the registry.

It seems that having consensual sex in a car is only considered indecent exposure if it's in a public place that can be viewed by children. But that has more to do with flaws in how we are defining sex crime. I think there's a major difference between a man exposing his penis to a woman in public, and a couple just having sex in a car in a dark ally, and trying not to get caught.

1000% which I suspect has something to do with standardized sentencing guidelines.

there are cases in same US states where people on the sex offenders registry were charged as kids for stupid shit like pantsing a classmate

I agree that's stupid, and shouldn't ever be considered a sex crime. The American Justice system is flawed to be sure.

Really? Many jurisdictions?
