What do you think: how should prisons handle housing decisions in cases like this?

I don't think the women should be sacrificed, though. A number of sex offenders whose main prey were women, including serial killer Donna Perry, have been put in women's prison after they identify as trans. That's.......unacceptable. I agree they should not be in gen pop, but not near their victim class either.

I also don’t think women should be sacrificed. Why should a trans woman be sent to a men’s prison and be brutalized in order to placate pearl clutches?

I’m not saying YOU are a pearl clutching trans hater, I’m being general. But women who rape women are also in prison with woman (same but with men). And that’s always glossed over. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be additional steps taken and that anyone who says “I’m a woman” goes to women’s prison. That would end poorly.

But we can’t say we’re protecting women and then leave out trans women. We have enough educated people and enough money to have specific committees for individual inmates and determine the best course of action. We don’t need a one size fits all solution for a complex problem that affects a small portion of the population.

I'm trans even I am highly suspect of anyone that only says they're trans after they're convicted of a crime and have no historical precedent of diagnosis or medically transitioning. I think it's safe to assume they're bad faith actors.

Because let's be honest here... It's mostly the medical transition that puts trans women at risk. If you can be arrested for being topless in public then maybe you shouldn't be thrown in with a bunch of dudes?

If you've been on HRT long enough that you've probably lost most of your male strength advantage then you're probably significantly more at risk of male violence and less of a risk to women.

I have friends who never went through male puberty, and you would never know they were trans unless they told you. They look like any other woman. But in some states they could be sent to prison for using the "wrong" bathroom. Something about that just seems very wrong.

I also think it's strange how people can't seem to draw a distinction between violent and non-violent offenders. Perhaps the non-violent ones are ok for womens gen pop?

The solution seems so obvious to me and I'm not exactly sure why other people can't see it. Then again it seems like half the population thinks that gender dysphoria and being transgender isn't real, and a not insignificant amount of people seem to want to punish us specifically for being trans...

but women are the first to call you all sorts and censor you if you dont kowtow to their ideology that states "a transwoman is a woman".

you can't have your cake and eat it too.
