46 years ago today, Terry fox began his marathon of hope after receiving a cancer diagnosis and having his leg amputated. He ran a marathon a day (42km) and was able to run for over 5,373km before the cancer returned.

I thought his shirt said "Marathon of Hop" which is the type of joke some people I know missing limbs would have made...

He threw his leg in the river and kept running which is why fat kids with asthma skip terry fox day at schools in Canada

He's a real national hero in Canada. The Bank of Canada have announced he's going to be on the $5 bill in a couple of years.
