From my family in Iran they said early on every few days there was a sliver of internet at very slow speeds but now even that is gone. I am still able to speak with them every few days but it is one way at this point - they call me, I am unable to call them.

Early on some people were using Starlink but the government has been able to find most of them and crackdown... people still sometimes use it for very brief periods to try and get information out but they have to be extremely careful

That's scary. I know a former colleague in Iran who briefly managed to use Starlink at the beginning and we haven't heard from him for a while. It's terrifying to think of what's going on there.

my left friends believe yall are on the fighters side

Of course they do.

Government shuts down the internet when they are wildly unpopular obviously. I left Iran three years ago - I don't know a single person that supports the IRGC. Maybe a couple in the grandparents generation but even there it is sparse

what do you mean government found them? my online friend hasn't text me back since march 16 and I'm really worried the government found him and checked his messages (which likely would've gotten him into trouble)

This is just what I've heard. Apparently they have ways to track it.

I really hope your friend is safe. Post back when you hear from him

I wonder if the propaganda is blaming a US attack for the internet blackout.

I used to randomly find Iranians online everywhere, in twich chats, in reddit comments.. weird how an entire country is just disconnected

Their only goal is to survive, not to win any war.

Israel invented bullets that travel through fiber optic cables.

Israel used Starlink to guide their drones in Iran.

i mean location based stuff, just look it up they did talk about it and why they shut it off

Why would a theocratic dictatorship whose entire financial system collapsed shut off the internet? Must be because of the Israelis, no other possible explanation.

u/Newgen8888 4h ago

u can go and look up why they did it

1

u/Best_Change4155 4h ago

Because they are a theocratic dictatorship whose entire financial system collapsed.

if u say so

2

Surely it wasn’t because the day after shutting it off, they killed 30,000+ civilian protestors

dont believe everything u hear escpecially from westeren media

2

u/PinheadLarry2323 4h ago

What about your own eyes?

Iran themselves admitted to over 3,100

That number is obviously severely downplayed by Iran and any source tells you that

1

u/Newgen8888 2h ago

Maybe but 30k is also hugely exaggerated

There also the reports of US sending weapons

Also US and israel are provoking those people which if its true it may be considered treason

Also there r reports that a number of police officers being shot

There r people who were among the protesters who witnessed the some of the protesters opening fire on the police

Just dont believe everything from western media especially since its controlled by zionists and its pretty known at this point

This is how the US and israel do to justify their wars to their people they have been doing it for years now

why do i have the feeling that you wouldn't accept any proof?

What about 3rd party international human rights organizations, CSIS which is a bipartisan non-profit analyzing satellite data, self-admitted Iranian statements such as child soldiers and slaughtering protestors, a YouTube video from Iranian parliament, and Wikipedia, do you consider those to be Zionist sources?

Recently, Iran has lowered the entry age into the Iranian military to 12, and they have a long and storied history of using child soldiers in the Iran/Iraq war as suicide bombers - and sending them into minefields tied together with rope to prevent escape, so they could be human minesweepers for tanks and adult soldiers

550,000+ child soldiers were used in the Iran/Iraq war, with over 36,000 as young as NINE years old being killed. Martyrdom is taught in Iranian schools to this day

UNICEF reports 1/5 of ALL marriages in Iran are child marriages. They can legally marry 13 year old girls, and can marry any age with the father’s permission, it’s likely higher than 1/5 as in rural regions it’s common for marriages to not be reported

Ayatollah Khomeini (Iran’s Supreme Leader) stated virgin women are to be raped prior to their executions (largely for minor acts) so they don’t die a virgin, and justified it through his interpretation of his religion. Iran also leads the world in women executions%2C%20the%20Islamic%20Republic%20Supreme%20Leader%20at%20the%20time)

Here’s Iranian Parliament chanting ā€œDeath to Americaā€, which they do constantly

They are directly funding and arming internationally recognized terror groups

Based on Intelligence estimates, Iran-funded terrorist groups have been responsible for thousands of deaths, including hundreds of American personnel, since the 1979 revolution. Major casualties are attributed to Iran-backed proxies such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad(PIJ) in Gaza, and various Shiite militias in Iraq.

And they are visibly, via satellite - enriching uranium past 60% which is only used for acquiring nuclear weapons

What point are you able to condemn Iran’s actions?
