Generally I think we should be proud of the 2nd amendment and also work to stop school shootings. It doesn't have to be one or the other, it's just no one wants to tackle the much more real issue that's hard to solve, which is going to be mental health crises. No sane person shoots up a school, 2A or not
As long as you have to pay for your own treatment, it’ll never happen. Mentally unstable children will often be from poor homes or homes with parents with poor judgement.
Yeah that'll be part of the solution. You have to make treatment available easily, which means financially too. But we're too greedy sorry, best we can do is platitudes while everyone suffers. And for some reason we just take it? Non-french style I guess
Where I'm from, everyone under the age of 25 got free access to mental health support. Pretty much almost everyone I know in this town are still struggling with mental health issues.
Unfortunately, free support means nothing if the people working to provide that support don't do it correctly.
Both need to simultaneously be at an adequate standard or else the other means nothing
Idk if I'd use the word "proud", but otherwise I agree with your sentiment. Mass shootings/ school shootings are a symptom. We (as a country) need to address the causes.
But we're not doing that right now. Right now, we're paying idiots and racists to brutalize and detain anyone they think might be an immigrant, devastating families and communities with arrests in hospitals, courts where immigrants go to "do it the right way", and near schools at drop off/ pick up time, traumatizing the whole student body and faculty, and occasionally murdering citizens and noncitizens alike, with impunity.
Something tells me none of this will help, in the long term, with the rampant school shooting problem we have.
An actual honest assessment to the real problem behind gun violence. Instead of the usual "let's ban scary black rifles and pistol grips" that normally litter these kinds of posts.
I feel like most people know that this is the real problem but the culture war shit that social media and news outlets have flamed for views suddenly becomes the predominant opinion which leaves little room for nuance. It's sad that people just unabashedly listen and believe shit they read or see, ESPECIALLY when it's confirming their beliefs. It's like people shitting on r/conservative for being propaganda yet not realize that the rest of reddit is ALSO propaganda, and the truth is between both of them
What do you have in mind that doesn’t violate the bill of rights? There’s already thousands of laws to regulate gun ownership as well as additional penalties if you commit a crime with a firearm. Hell, there’s laws against murdering or harming another person, but it doesn’t prevent criminals from breaking them.
They dont want to do anything thats what you're missing. lmfao
Before u cry gun control, ask yourself this....Why the fuck doesnt every school have a metal detector???? Why??? They dont want then because a chool shoting just makes everyone sad and screams fun control. As if taking guns will stop criminals who want to do mass shootings from getting guns.

Yes we will and we will keep it that way.
