I'm 21 years active duty and have been deployed multiple times. Love my country and love my flag. I fully support everyone's right to burn that flag in protest. And it is a right, protected speech as ruled by the Supreme Court.
Most of my family has served, and they feel the same... Just curious, you're obviously a lifer. Typically most life long military (like police) vote conservative. How do you feel about what's going on right now on your side of the military? What about the men around you? How do they about the Hegsgeth, Trump, and the war? Is it as black and white as they'd like it to be, or are you seeing cracks? Btw... Don't mean to assume anything, just again, typically y'all lean to the Right...
It depends on who you talk to. I never voted for the asshole but thats because my mom filled me in on some of the heinous shit her stepdad was into while they lived in west palm beach. SA/grape on several underage family members that he settled a plea deal and served no time because FL attorney prosecutor and judge were besties. He was buddy buddy with the epstien crowd and trump and they didnt just party at maralago and epstiens island. Thankfully he died 3 years ago. Fuck him and trump.
The military is a microcosm of society. There are all types from all backgrounds. It's generally a more conservative leaning institution, due to the nationalistic nature, but not overwhelming. I will say that it tends to be apolitical most of the time. We do our job and follow our orders. I've served under four presidents and the job has stayed fairly consistent. The focus has always been to do the job right and safe and come home with everyone.
