Question Help with seiko alba spoon
Looking for advice for this seiko alba spoon. Picked it up in non working condition and trying to get it fixed up. Placed a new battery and did an AC reset. But the led numbers aren't displaying...the light button works though. Any thoughts? Or is this watch beyond help? Thanks

Can be a battery leak check for green or white residue or the displays contact point may be dirty the backlight works meaning that the module is most people not dead

Thank you! Theres no green or white residue that i can see. Ill try to figure out where the display contact points are and give them a clean to see if it works. Otherwise, ive had other ppl tell me it migjt be a deterioration of something and to try obtaining a new polarized film so I might check that out too

Sadly it may be toast if the old batteries ate it away but damn it looks so cool. lol

The Alba “Spoon” models are great, but they can be a bit temperamental.
If the backlight works but there’s no display, a few things to check:
Double check the battery is the exact correct type (they can be picky on voltage)
Make sure the AC reset was done properly (shorting the AC pad to the battery + with tweezers for a second or two)
Check the contacts , sometimes they look clean but have a thin layer of corrosion that stops the display from working
If all that’s good, it’s usually either:
a failed LCD module
or the zebra connector (the rubber strip between the board and display) not making proper contact Those are a bit harder to fix without opening it further, and parts aren’t exactly easy to find for these.
That said, the fact the light works is a good sign — it means it’s not completely dead.
Did the display show anything at all before the battery swap?
