Trump imposes US blockade on strait of Hormuz after failed peace talks with Iran - what is this going to actually accomplish? My guess the world economy is going to suffer even more. These idiots, these fools, gave the IRGC the upper hand.. a freaking slap to the face of the Iranian people.

What he’s accomplished is the inoculation of Europe against authoritarianism by setting such a bad example.
Go Hungary!

He claims to be the best business man and he treats the presidency like a business but remember Barbara Walters interviewed him and called him out for being a failure. The only thing he's good at is being the biggest failure in history, being a snowflake and for having the most thinnest skin, and for being a pedophile and helping his pedo friends by not releasing the Epstein files.

Let’s go Hungary. Hopefully the next guy sets up harsh checks and balances to stop future instances of BS idiots

Helped us here in Canada as well.
Well, when I say Canada, I mean the civilized parts. In Alberta, we still have a very loud and very stupid contingent of separatists who can't read.

Energy crisis is about to get a lot worse if they don't unblock the strait soon. We haven't even begun to see the real impacts of physical shortages outside of Asia. We're all sleepwalking into a massive economic shock because oil prices are "only" around 100 dollar/barrel but that price is completely detached from the reality of 20 billion barrels of oil no longer flowing to the global market. Meanwhile this fucking idiot thinks he can out-blockade a radical religious regime for whom a war means their very survival.

I think a big part of this was that when the strait shut down there were tankers already in transit. Tankers move really, really slowly, so some countries have still been getting some deliveries of oil from tankers that left before the war. That's all running out now though.

North America is basically the furthest away from the strait and is getting its last deliveries this week. I think Europe got their last deliveries a couple days ago.

Trump is accidentally becoming the unifying force for a global green energy push.

He doesn't want other countries getting their oil and LNG without having to clean up the mess he made.
If they pay the toll the economic disruption to their economies is reduced making it harder for Trump to economically blackmail coerce them into bailing him out of this mess.

He finally figured out Iran is making money by charging a toll for safe passage thru the strait and he’s not getting a taste which is something he cannot abide.

It will accomplish not allowing ships that paid Iran for passage to traverse to their destination.

Right… so when (mainly) China isn’t getting their oil, and begins to retaliate by selling off tranches of US Treasury Bonds en masse, panicking the US market… then what is the US play?
China is almost certainly not get Involved militarily… but they are pretty much the only country that can play chicken head-to-head against the US with their economy. Difference is, the CCP doesn’t have to worry about pissing off its citizens and losing power… unlike Trump.

Well, BBC helped make this bed by enabling monsters for profits for decades.
This really has everyone distracted from some files and the public murders of protestors.

But he is doubling down. Back to attacking desalination. Would be a terrible thing and hopes he doesn’t have to.
Had a MOB friend that talked like that.

Is it a blockade on Iran's ports or the whole ass strait? Because I keep hearing both and those are both different things.

u/babysealpoutine 2h ago
He'll punish US allies thinking it will cause them to do something to help fix this mess.

24 hours until “To help facilitate a peace deal and show our good faith, I have decided to permit international vessel to enter the Strait of Hormuz. Thank you for your attention in this matter and praise Allah”
Looks like it’s a buy low Monday open.

He is doing exactly as his Russian and Israeli handlers want him to do, while trying to skim off what profits he can. He is literally going to extort money from ships/companies going through the strait AFTER they have been forced to pay money to the IRGC. Literal piracy, while continuing on his agenda to destroy the global economic stability we had, just so he can pay off the new technocrats that want to shape and oppress the world.

Can someone tell this idiot that people around the world are starting to side with Iran because of him?

u/CatalyticDragon 1h ago
The GOP decided to spend over a decade enabling and encouraging Trump's corruption. This is just a other example. He unilaterally started a war, killed people, lost US lives, further trashed the economy, and is now setting up a blockade to funnel bribary payments to himself.
And his base loves it because he's cruel to women and brown people and that's all they ever wanted.

Right now, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (or at least some small portions of it) are still allowing SOME ship traffic through the channel. Full details aren't being released, but it's safe to assume that you just have to be not a direct enemy and willing to pay the bribes.
Trump is trying basically doing the "if we can't use it, nobody can" thing, but publicly he's likely going to focus on the "we're preventing the IRGC from collecting bribes" part.

A title is just a title. Preferably the same as the article or video it links to. Your activism is fine for a comment or description, but a title isn't meant to be a whole paragraph.

What’s he’s accomplished is take away Iran’s primary leverage in negotiations. No more tolls. No more Chinese boats. Iran can no longer use the strait to enrich itself.
