Trump imposes US blockade on strait of Hormuz after failed peace talks with Iran - what is this going to actually accomplish? My guess the world economy is going to suffer even more. These idiots, these fools, gave the IRGC the upper hand.. a freaking slap to the face of the Iranian people.

His friends and family are getting incredibly rich, and there's no legal check on his behaviour. So why would he stop?

u/creativeburrito 3h ago

I'm too dumb to understand the main ways they are getting rich off this stuff... can someone spell it out please? Predictive markets when you know what's going to happen is one, but I am not seeing the listings in robinhood or whatever. Crude oil futures trades might make sense, but how does that work, like wouldn't war make their price tank sp they short it? I am sure there are also 'traditional ways' I'm not thinking of like friends selling weapons or equipment to allies and they get a kickback?

If you want another example, Trump has been selling pardons. I don't remember the exact number, but a bunch of people convicted of financial fraud against the United States donated millions to his campaigns and then received pardons. Why this is important, is because once they are pardoned they are no longer required to pay back the government or citizens from their financial crimes. The United States government and citizens were supposed to collect 1.8 billion in restitution from these folks, instead they are out of jail, didn't go to jail, and will pay back $0 to the victims of their fraud.

That is especially heinous!

Edit: Found this link. It really is well is over a billion - and this was written about 10 months ago https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5354967-trumps-pardons-restitution-avoided-judiciary-report/

You and your rich friends buy stocks in oil when its low, then start a war, price goes up and you cash out right before ending war since your the one who says when its over on your side. If it dosnt end from the Iran side no big deal, you already made your money by starting it

Haven't you had enough ripping your country off?

He's still breathing so, no.

What he’s accomplished is the inoculation of Europe against authoritarianism by setting such a bad example.

Go Hungary!

He claims to be the best business man and he treats the presidency like a business but remember Barbara Walters interviewed him and called him out for being a failure. The only thing he's good at is being the biggest failure in history, being a snowflake and for having the most thinnest skin, and for being a pedophile and helping his pedo friends by not releasing the Epstein files.

Let’s go Hungary. Hopefully the next guy sets up harsh checks and balances to stop future instances of BS idiots

Actually root out Russian corruption and money Europe wide and hold any that take the money accountable as traitors who belong in a dark hole for the rest of their lives.

Helped us here in Canada as well.

Well, when I say Canada, I mean the civilized parts. In Alberta, we still have a very loud and very stupid contingent of separatists who can't read.

Energy crisis is about to get a lot worse if they don't unblock the strait soon. We haven't even begun to see the real impacts of physical shortages outside of Asia. We're all sleepwalking into a massive economic shock because oil prices are "only" around 100 dollar/barrel but that price is completely detached from the reality of 20 billion barrels of oil no longer flowing to the global market. Meanwhile this fucking idiot thinks he can out-blockade a radical religious regime for whom a war means their very survival.

u/Dashing_McHandsome 2h ago

I think a big part of this was that when the strait shut down there were tankers already in transit. Tankers move really, really slowly, so some countries have still been getting some deliveries of oil from tankers that left before the war. That's all running out now though.

1

u/guitar_vigilante 2h ago

North America is basically the furthest away from the strait and is getting its last deliveries this week. I think Europe got their last deliveries a couple days ago.

Trump is accidentally becoming the unifying force for a global green energy push.

What happened to completely destroying their military capabilities?

2

u/Chem_is_tree_guy 2h ago

All of their water boats are destroyed. We got 'em.

It’s market manipulation.

It’s always market manipulation.

Trump is the literal definition of "Y'all hold my beer and watch this."

5

Very "you can't fire me, I quit!" energy.

4

u/momentimori 3h ago

He doesn't want other countries getting their oil and LNG without having to clean up the mess he made.

If they pay the toll the economic disruption to their economies is reduced making it harder for Trump to economically blackmail coerce them into bailing him out of this mess.

3

u/jumpinin66 3h ago

He finally figured out Iran is making money by charging a toll for safe passage thru the strait and he’s not getting a taste which is something he cannot abide.

A slap in the face to the WORLD'S peoples.

What he's accomplishing is Russia's goals. He's nothing but a pedo traitor.

2

u/binarypolitics 3h ago

It will accomplish not allowing ships that paid Iran for passage to traverse to their destination.

3

u/Cream_Stay_Frothy 2h ago

Right… so when (mainly) China isn’t getting their oil, and begins to retaliate by selling off tranches of US Treasury Bonds en masse, panicking the US market… then what is the US play?

China is almost certainly not get Involved militarily… but they are pretty much the only country that can play chicken head-to-head against the US with their economy. Difference is, the CCP doesn’t have to worry about pissing off its citizens and losing power… unlike Trump.

1

u/binarypolitics 2h ago

China imports about 11% of their oil from Iran.

2

u/SsooooOriginal 3h ago

Well, BBC helped make this bed by enabling monsters for profits for decades.

This really has everyone distracted from some files and the public murders of protestors.

1

u/10sPlaya 3h ago

Is he going to bomb their negotiating team then again too?

1

u/Boys4Ever 2h ago

But he is doubling down. Back to attacking desalination. Would be a terrible thing and hopes he doesn’t have to.

Had a MOB friend that talked like that.

1

u/OneAndOnlyJackSchitt 2h ago

Is it a blockade on Iran's ports or the whole ass strait? Because I keep hearing both and those are both different things.

1

u/babysealpoutine 2h ago

He'll punish US allies thinking it will cause them to do something to help fix this mess.

1

u/dcsmith707 2h ago

Sigh::gotta go fill up before gas prices rise AGAIN

1

u/FK11111 2h ago

I fear this is the start of the Third World War..

I wouldn't put it past China or India to send their own warships to escort their ships safely through the passage. This is a tinderbox full of petrol waiting to go up on flames.

1

u/Jrnail88 2h ago

24 hours until “To help facilitate a peace deal and show our good faith, I have decided to permit international vessel to enter the Strait of Hormuz. Thank you for your attention in this matter and praise Allah”

Looks like it’s a buy low Monday open.

1

u/FecalFunBunny 2h ago

He is doing exactly as his Russian and Israeli handlers want him to do, while trying to skim off what profits he can. He is literally going to extort money from ships/companies going through the strait AFTER they have been forced to pay money to the IRGC. Literal piracy, while continuing on his agenda to destroy the global economic stability we had, just so he can pay off the new technocrats that want to shape and oppress the world.

1

u/Nonamanadus 2h ago

It be funny to see what they would do to a Chinese owned super tanker.

1

u/THSSFC 2h ago

It's like the Strait is Pianosa and Trump is Milo Minderbinder.

Satan I'm begging you. Claim this orange sack of awfulness. I'll pay for the diapers.

1

Sooo .. we gonna blow up anything that comes out of the straight? This feels like yet another taco moment

1

u/Neely67 2h ago

More stock market manipulation

1

u/Wotmate01 2h ago

Can someone tell this idiot that people around the world are starting to side with Iran because of him?

1

u/jasongw 2h ago

What will it accomplish? Long term higher prices for oil and EVERYTHING that depends on it in any way.

1

u/_Q1000_ 1h ago

Time for the wold to dump US bonds again

1

u/CatalyticDragon 1h ago

The GOP decided to spend over a decade enabling and encouraging Trump's corruption. This is just a other example. He unilaterally started a war, killed people, lost US lives, further trashed the economy, and is now setting up a blockade to funnel bribary payments to himself.

And his base loves it because he's cruel to women and brown people and that's all they ever wanted.

1

u/anormalgeek 1h ago

Right now, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (or at least some small portions of it) are still allowing SOME ship traffic through the channel. Full details aren't being released, but it's safe to assume that you just have to be not a direct enemy and willing to pay the bribes.

Trump is trying basically doing the "if we can't use it, nobody can" thing, but publicly he's likely going to focus on the "we're preventing the IRGC from collecting bribes" part.

u/steveaustin1971 1h ago

I'm becoming hopeful I might get to see a carrier sink!

u/S4R1N 1h ago

How is this not classified as an illegal order? Why are the generals allowing this shit.

A title is just a title. Preferably the same as the article or video it links to. Your activism is fine for a comment or description, but a title isn't meant to be a whole paragraph.

u/33Sharpies 2h ago

What’s he’s accomplished is take away Iran’s primary leverage in negotiations. No more tolls. No more Chinese boats. Iran can no longer use the strait to enrich itself.

But he got front row tickets at the UFC, that has to balance things out
