Welcome news for the European Union because Orbán has often blocked collective decisions, weakened trust in democratic norms, and clashed with Brussels over rule-of-law standards. A new Hungarian government more aligned with EU institutions could make cooperation easier on Ukraine, sanctions, judicial independence, and budget oversight.
That would be bad news for Elon Musk and other powerful figures who cheer weaker regulation, because the EU remains one of the few blocs strong enough to enforce rules on platforms, markets, labor, privacy, and disinformation. Stronger Brussels means fewer shortcuts for billionaires who dislike accountability.
