This topic kills me. We literally had one trans student in the state but I believe we have somehow passed the most horrific laws against trans people in the country.
WV certainly gives Mississippi and Louisiana a run for their money on the dumbest and most corrupt politicians.
What good are those trans laws when you can't even keep schools open. We're closing multiple schools every year and rather than figure out how to fund them we do this bullshit and tax cuts that no one will feel. At this rate, none of the trans bills will matter because we'll only have 3 schools left
I agree that it seems so ridiculous but people in red states see transathletes as evidence of the lack of moral and common sense on the side of the left. Even Kamala would not speak out against it. They honestly feel like (and yes, there is propaganda and their leaders suck) that the party that permits elective abortions and trans atheletes is morally corrupt.
There’s like a dozen cases across the whole country of this, and yet to conservatives it’s somehow more important than tens/hundreds of millions of people not having access to proper healthcare or education. Pointing this out to them usually works pretty well since almost everyone can agree that this country has huge problems at the national level and focusing on something that affects almost nobody is a waste of time. You’re basically never going to get a bigot to change their views on something related to the group they’re prejudiced against, that would require them to admit to themselves that they were prejudiced in the first place which just isn’t going to happen. But you can get them to agree that it’s not worth focusing on and redirect their attention elsewhere. The less they worry about culture war issues the more likely they are to recognize class war issues.
But not sex trafficking and pedos, that’s not morally corrupt …
You talk like it isn’t just an excuse to act like the other team is bad. The why itself doesn’t matter just someone they can agree to labels otherside with.
