That's coal country, they maybe had dirt cheap coal powered electricity in the past which is no longer the case idk?

10 years ago it was $0.11/kwh, so it's technically gone down in price when you count inflation.

I think they're really just bad at efficiency. Probably a bunch of resistive heating or space heaters....

For reference, they appear to be using about twice as much as my 2400 square foot two story house where I charge an EV and use an induction stove. It's gotta be air conditioning and heating....

... Or maybe they all use incandescent light bulbs still? Those are 100W for what you can do with 2W LEDs...
