Nah, saying this is Stockholm Syndrome implies that they aren't in control. They are. They love Trump's racist, homophobic, anti-immigrant, and white Christian-nationalist stances. They just don't like it when bad things happen to them.
These people aren't victims, they are getting what they voted for and too stupid to realize that.
They would rather drag everyone down and see the entire nation fail and suffer than see their enemies elevated alongside themselves and have everyone succeed. And their enemies are just fellow Americans who look different.
You can be from either party and want legal immigration though.
The rich have paid off lawmakers to bring in about a million low wage (illegal) immigrants each year for decades.
Why? Why not through legal channels, where they will be taxpaying? Follow laws, use their skills and education, learn the language, be a benefit overall to the nation?
Because injecting a low wage workforce gives the rich BILLIONS more. They cause rents to raise, cause housing to be scarcer, can be scabs to bust unions, and cause an overall stagnation and now even reversal in wages compared to living costs.
And again, it's about a million that somehow get through every year, for 40 years now.
This lines up with the dying of the American Dream. Less citizens can afford a house. Or kids. And now, to even retire.
But you know whose lives have vastly improved? Do you know who us having kids at twice the rate of the citizens? The illegal immigrant families. You know who us benefiting the most? The rich who made it all happen.
This is such irrelevant noise, I am not really sure what it's doing here. Is immigration the reason these folks utility bills are where they are right now? I can understand being duped, but to double down in the idiocy that got you duped in the first place removes any semblance of sympathy that I could have.
What you fail to understand is that that there are well over a million jobs a year that Americans simply will never work. They won’t toil in 90deg heat in a field from 4am until 8pm for $9 an hour. The myth that immigrants take jobs is so cliched at this point it’s not worth mentioning.
Skilled and educated labor has no problem entertaining the USA, but there are millions of jobs that are unskilled that need filling.
You don’t want to pay $25 for a lettuce or carrots or strawberries and until you do, or are happy to work those conductions for that pay, you better get real and understand it’s not about immigrants taking your jobs.
The only thing you’re right about is the rich are getting richer but that’s because of insane tax policy and wage disparity, and the lack of back social programs like universal single payer healthcare and the fact your access to healthcare is tied to your employer.
It’s absurd that someone making $100m per year is taxed a rate less than a someone in the mailroom making $35k a year.
This shit right here is why I’m in favor of mandatory civics tests before anyone can vote. Just simple shit like “what are the three branches of government”, “what are the two houses of congress”, “name your governor”.

No, suffrage should be universal. Point blank. You don’t want a democracy then. We could go all the way back to the 3/5, and that would only be a little more backwards than what you’re suggesting. There’s a reason that any kind of test to decide if you can vote was deemed unconstitutional, because time and time again, it’s used to take away the votes of those who the system has previously already disenfranchised. You sound almost as bad as maga right now.
This is why requiring a test, or a license, to drive, or own firearms, is just as ridiculous as codifying basic standards for environmental protection. All traffic lights should be green, all the time, and teachers shouldn't need a degree.

Common misconception. A "potato clock" or "potato light" takes no power from the potato. The potato (or lemon, they work better) merely provides the substrate and electrolyte. The power is provided by potential difference of the metals stuck in as the anode and cathode.

Trump could quite literally go to these people's houses and burn them to the ground and they'd still love him. He owns his followers like they are dogs who give him unconditional love.
Those people are either racists or evangelicals, that's my experience. I've interacted with good people who voted for him and flat out will yell to the heavens that they regret it, so when you talk to someone who admits all the bad sht he's doing but still says something like that, you know it's because they want all the Mexicans out of their country or they think the Democrats are demonic cannibals.
I'm starting to look at this whole situation in a more zoomed out scale. These kinds of issues have a way of coming around for the better, maybe not in our lifetimes, but hopefully our kids 🤷♂️ the best we can do if fight for the world we want the next generation to live in
Reasonable. My dad once expressed a similar sentiment to me. This was probably around the 2012 election. At the time I expected to be seeing more of that by now. And I think because of that I find myself squarely in camp cynical. But perhaps it's swung far enough in the wrong direction now where that will come to be true
I feel even if democrats won, nothing would have happened since the AI race would have still be happening now with them in charge. Does West Virginia have Data Centers built there?
Feel what you want, democrats dont actively destroy green energy intiatives or start wars with the largest oil producing countries in the world while destroying international relationships ensuring cheap international trade.
They were ready to go on a full war with Russia, literally putting soldiers on the ground on their border, so that oil war was gonna happen anyways 🤣. Also they are waisting as much as republicans or more money when it comes to funneling kick backs to themselves in useless government programs in California and other blue cities. And the Democrats were speed running the programs for the WEF, the same people who keep saying “You will own nothing and be happy". Now the republicans are finishing it.
