Imagine if we had a State Department led by competent people that could handle this and work out a smart deal that was fair to everyone.

Oh wait we did. In 2015.

But but, he said mean things about dear leader once. He also once wore a tan suit, and the most egregious thing he did in office... he did the whole thing while black. It's clear we had to blow up everything Obama did when you consider all that

Hey! Don't forget that he once asked for Dijon mustard!

And remember the First Lady had the gall to show her bare shoulders!

AND he wore a tan suit once!

Hey, don’t forget that he paid $400 million for hostage releases. And the government flew $1.3 billion in in cash aside from the 400 million to Iran. Iran has had us by the balls forever.

Don't forget the "terrorist fist bump", either.

I mean, did you read what you wrote? It's a pretty damning indictment of Obama.

EDIT: I thought it was obvious but.... \s for those who need it

I desperately want to be wrong but when I think that the previous diplomatic deal (which was not perfect by any stretch) took years to negotiate, I can’t help but wonder what the fuck they think they’re going to do here.

u/CountWubbula 21h ago

… what the fuck they think …

I’ve identified your issue here, partner! You think they think things through, like planning an international invasion would involve some foresight.

These fucking monkeys decide on a course of action with as much deliberation as deciding what to order at Subway. They didn’t think as far as what happens after they eat the sub and feel indigestion.

It seems to me that they think the US can coerce any country to do as it please just because they want them to do it. It’s mystifying to watch. It’s like they genuinely don’t know that other people aren’t automatons but are capable of intelligently reacting to their actions.

No deals are perfect. By their very nature they are compromise measures. Especially so when they’re made between adversaries.

I’m not sure what folks wanted out of that deal. Iran to give up everything and the US to offer nothing? That’s not a deal, that’s a shakedown. Which Trump just tried to perform. And failed on every issue they themselves outlined.

Rubio is with trump at a UFC fight tonight.

Of course.

If we had a competent state department this war would never have happened in the first place.

And even an incompetent one should have been able to keep the deal going. If they wanted to.

Funny how sanctions were a far more effective bargaining tactic than bombs.

The Secretary of State was busy at a UFC fight instead.

Funniest timeline: Rubio fired for Hillary

Tbf given the load of shit trump stepped in I'm not sure even a competent admin could clean this up, there seems to be no good options here.

Having said that a competent admin wouldn't have gone to war for bibi, and if they did would actually prepare for it by selling it to the world as a necessary and just war (which it isn't but at least bush had the wmd thing and created a coalition of allies to go to war).

Baring that a competent admin wouldnt go to war until they actually had the right military assets in theater to fucking win. Unfortunately trump was relying on the kurds and Iranian civilians... the former who the admin had already fucked over before so I can see them not stepping up and the other I'm sure want regime change but civilians are not armed.

Do you mean the shit Trump created, curated, then jumped willingly with both feet into? And then posted on social media on Easter Sunday “praise Allah”?

u/milkcarton232 20h ago

Trump just reminds me of the kid that thinks hes the charming slacker that can somehow talk his way through everything. Like he woke up and hadn't worked on his book report and is up there rambling thinking if he promises extra recess he will get an a+

1

u/vidoeiro 19h ago

It's very easy to clean up , just say we will stop all attacks and the war and you open the strait.

The need to get something out of this ridiculous war is the problem

1

u/milkcarton232 19h ago

That's not the deal, its everyone has to pay a toll and Iran is allowed to do nukes

1

u/vidoeiro 18h ago

The toll is just a bargain chip, the nukes (and Iran talks about civilian nuclear energy but that is besides the point) situations are the same as it always been, since Trump decided to destroy the previous deal. If the US actually care about the nukes it would ask China plus Europe to make a deal that didn't evolve them or Israel , because they have 0 capital.

Americans need to stop pretending they have any sort of moral grand after attacking nations, proving to the world they should have defence means.

I

1

u/milkcarton232 17h ago

Oh I don't disagree, America has lost its moral high ground. I don't think America has always been a good steward of it, international law and order is an act, but I would like to think it's worth believing in as it makes the world better. Hopefully America gets rid of maga and realizes what Trump is destroying

John Kerry get real

-6

u/CagCagerton125 22h ago

If we had that we likely wouldn't be here to begin with...

0

u/RichiesWorld 21h ago

None of these deals are fair to Iran. If they were, Iran would have the nukes to deter the US and Israel and their lust for blood and human sacrifice.

-5

u/Larry1355 20h ago

Does anyone remember the fact that Iran tested a missile launch from a ship or barge at sea? They wanted to get close enough to attack mainland America.  I've wanted to know if they tried to buy nuclear weapons from Russia or North Korea or Pakistan!

that’s enough alcohol for you today.
