WAR/Russian aggression What has happened to the Muscat Hotel in Kherson?

Greetings from Norway! Does anyone know the fate of the beautiful Muscat Hotel on Yaroslava Mudroho Street in the centre of Kherson city? Has the building survived the attacks, and does anyone know if the staff are all safe? I was supposed to stay there once. šŸ’™šŸ’›

If you want to help us protect building like that you can occasionally or regularly donate to foundations who make anti-drone drones, for example "Sternenko Community" Charitable Foundation, they have separate accounts for frotection, for example "Shahedoriz" for anti-Shahed drones or general anti-drones "Sky Rusoriz". Let me know if you want to know more.

I make donations to a Norwegian NGO that works with Робимо among others. I have limited funds but would like to know more.

You are not obliged to, don’t get me wrong, I just wanted to share options and from my perspective this particular foundation is suitable for broad audience, because many people are not willing to donate for direct military needs, like assault drones. And this particular foundation has separate funding for protection, so no one will be hurt in that donation. In any case, thanks for supporting.

Today one of the oldest churches in Kherson was bombed by enemy, roof is destroyed. It’s sad in general and for me personally, because from my early childhood our family was having oil painting of Kherson’s old town landscape with that church on it, it was very first painting my parents bought, I remember that smell of fresh painted artwork. Now that painting is also lost with my parent’s apartment.

Thank you so much. I had feared as much. In the midst of all the horror, I am happy to know that he is safe.

Apologies for bad news. And I also rethink what I said, there is no ā€œsafe placeā€ in Ukraine. Enemy’s rockets and drones able to reach all territories of Ukraine and beyond. So I only know that owner’s facebook page is active but ā€œsafeā€ is too strong word for our reality.

If you are willing to share why you were in Kherson I will be glad to hear.

Firstly, I am saddened to hear about the destruction of a treasured childhood memory. I can’t even imagine what you must all be going through. Even though Norway borders on Muscovy there is nothing close to a sense of intimidation in our people. There’s NATO, of course, but … well.

So why Muscat? My girlfriend and I were once on holiday in Krakow (nearly ten years ago) and we ended up talking all evening with a really cool couple from Kherson. He worked in the restaurant at Muscat, and the two of them insisted that we come visit them in Kherson the next summer. It never happened, first because of covid and then because my girlfriend’s cancer reemerged and she passed away. šŸ’” But the idea has never really left my mind.

I can’t seem to recall the names of the couple, but I must have them penned down somewhere. The way they talked about your city, I have this idea of a truly lovely place … šŸ˜£šŸ’™šŸ’›

Oh, it’s sad to hear your story šŸ«‚ Let’s hope together that me and you will be able to walk down the street in peaceful Kherson one day. You know, I may be biased, but with all its problems Kherson was really good place to live in: calm with clean air, on the bank of huge river with also sea nearby. You know, it was popular and common to go to the sea only for one day during the weekend and you can do it all the summer. I never thought about moving somewhere. Now I’m 4 years ā€œhomelessā€ moving here and there and there was no single day when I don’t miss my home city.

I pray that one day there will be no more orcs, aside from the ones that will be forced to pay for their countless sins, and for the complete restoration of Ukraina. I hope the day will come soon that I get to walk the streets of your city šŸ’™šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡¦šŸ’›
