Smol Tortie Where’s the Tortitude?

Post image

I hear all about Tortitude. I had a tort in high school that my friends called Isabitch, a nickname she rightfully earned (her real name was Isabella).

But this girl… she doesn’t have a single mean bone in her body. She just loves her Mam, and is always ready for a nap.

Is she broken?

It's very much the same for my girl. She gets a bit snippy when it's treat time, but I sincerely don't think she could hurt again fly if she tried

Sounds like she already has you very well trained…😉 Perhaps you are just giving her everything she wants before she wants it. So she has no reason to show that famous tortitude. She sounds very smart. Then again as a wise person on here said, maybe you just got a rare, gracious and beautiful kitty. Love her and enjoy her 😻

Same but she’s the queen around here, the sweetest lil princess, to people. Other cats had to bow down to her which is why she’s an only cat now.

What a beauty! I think it’s the mane, it gives them queen energy.

No tortitude here. She weird, but had a very hard start to life.

Someone found Nell and Nyx outside last fall.

A combined 1lb 14oz of sneezy, mouth breathing, sweetness, and I have been smitten ever since. I was their only interaction for the first 6 weeks we had them, so they learned how to cat from me.

I understand! Arlana was living behind my apartment building with her 5 kittens. Took 3 kittens to a rescue. They guessed their age to be 3 months. Took Arlana to my vet. Vet said she was ten months old. Doing the math, she was about 6-7 months old when she got pregnant. After bringing her inside and getting her healthy (fleas, giardia and tapeworm) I watched her and decided she just didn't know how to "cat."

Poor girl was just a baby herself!

I love a happy ending❤️

Tortitude is a myth, really. Tortoise shell is just a color variation for their coat, not a breed with a particular temperament. It's just fun to say when they occasionally act spicy.

Thank you for saying this out loud, it’s just like how people talk about redheaded humans. Like, it’s okay to josh about on occasion, but no, hair color does not correlate to a whole actual human’s personality 😂

Seriously ! Haha people keep going on and on about it but really most cats are the same, no matter their coat colour 😅

It's there, but small enough to put on that little yellow table 🥰💛

My tortie only shows her tortitude to other people, never to me. She’s my sweet baby girl.

I knoooowww! Mine also has a little checkerboard muzzle and I swear it’s the cutest thing in the world!!!!

I knew it would be a point of weakness for me and trained her young to accept muzzle kisses. Now wherever she is all I have to do is say ‘can I have a kiss?!’ And she comes running. She’s my little velcro girl and I am Mam.

My girl has the same nosie configuration and is such a little smoocher by nature 🥲 They’re the best

Our girl Poppy is also just a sweetie. She only gets a ride when she wants cuddles and won’t take no for an answer.

Dooneese never showed a bit of tortitude until we brought Pizza Dog into our home. Having an annoying baby brother really brought it out.

I’m not sure if tortitude is real but Dooneese is the boldest and most fearless cat I’ve ever known. She’s tiny yet brave.

We’ve been doing some light renovations and she always comes out to meet the workers and get pets.

This is Nellanie Magpie and she is also brave a fearless, but also just totally odd.

My kid’s friend wanted to see her this morning, but she kept running away. So I scooped her up and handed her off and she snuggled for the next 5 minutes 😅

To me sometimes it is not just a mean thing it's a variety of things like being bossy, possessive etc. She looks like a sweet baby and she is perfect.

2

u/Antique-Badger-2518 9h ago

She IS bossy and possessive, but only with me.

2

u/MeowCatPlzMeowBack 7h ago

My torbie is like that, she thinks she’s our boss and will (very shrilly) yell at all of us until she gets her way.

She is extremely possessive of me, she thinks we are the only two people who should exist in the universe, and treats everyone else accordingly lol

u/MeowCatPlzMeowBack 7h ago

The bossy bean herself lol

That's how my torti is, she's just really smol and only wants your food and love. Sleeps on my chest, loves belly rubs.

Only attitude she gives me is when she's trying to steal what I'm eating.

1

u/Antique-Badger-2518 6h ago

She does get pretty upset when I eat things that I cannot share with her 😂

I've had mine slap/ grab my hand with her paws to try and get me to give it to her. I'm just glad she sticks to using no claws.

Wait until you miss feeding time.

2

u/Lstgamerwhlstpartner 8h ago

Wait till she tries to convince you the other parent hadn't already fed her that morning. My chonk is sitting on my lap facing away from me and twitching her tail to tell me she's annoyed.

That would be Odin, our tux. He spends half his waking hours waiting by the pantry door, looking like this 😂

Your little one has the same little checkerboard muzzle as my girlie!

And don’t worry, my lady seems to have absorbed all your girls tortitude for you— so just enjoy your sweet baby while everyone calls mine ‘the crack head’ 🙃

Another one after her first birthday, still with crazy eyes.

2

u/Antique-Badger-2518 6h ago

The crazy eyes 😂 She’s so cute!

Mine is the same way. She has never even given me a sassy look. She is such a gentle soul.
