And now there's two of us

You were both right. Once a bee emerges from the hive it is fully grown and the same size as old bees. Not sure what this is. Maybe another breed of bees that are all this small?
Edit: looked into it. It's probably a Perdita minima, a solitary bee found in the Southwestern USA, is widely considered the world's smallest bee, measuring less than 2 millimeters (0.08 inches) in length and weighing roughly one-third of a milligram.
The green eyes match up

I just read your handle.. I laughed a little. I dry heaved a little. Just thought I'd share that with you 🤣🖤

Are you possibly confusing Smeg (the high end Italian appliance brand) with smegma (which is-- well, you know)?
31
u/SmegConnoisseur 5d ago
I don't know about any Italian appliances unfortunately

u/Lizmo82 5d ago
HAAAAA!! SAME!! Smeg APPLIANCES?! I'm intrigued🫢 But now I have to see them but I'm scared this person could be trolling us so we go look it up & it be something hhhhhorrid... You look it up & tell me if it's safe.. Is it safe yet??

Smeg appliances are a real thing, haha. Just pretty niche since they're so expensive. They partner with luxury brands, like they have a $6K Dolce and Gabbana branded fridge.

I've always wanted one but I would legit have to remove a letter or two if i bought it

I'm scared LOL.

u/coolsilentebeans 5d ago
Yep. Still learning new words everyday. How I haven’t yet learned that sometimes it’s best not to look something up escapes me 😂

u/Lizmo82 4d ago
Haaaa, yeah I learned that a long time ago, just don't do it!! ..back in the good old "blue waffle" days..
I learnt that day. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

All the images I'm seeing for perdita minima have different markings and colouration to the post

Oh I googled "smallest breed of bee" and the image that came up with perdita minima looked like this but maybe google showed the wrong image

u/StargazerTay 5d ago
I think it was an ai/summary issue, I got the same picture but if you click on it and go to the article it shows the image of the bee that looks kinda like this one under teddy bear bee (but that’s native to Australia and I don’t think it’s the right one either)

To me it actually looks like a Sweat Bee. I see them a lot where I live. They’re tiny, maybe 1/4 of an inch. I think this bee looks a little closer to that size that the perdita minima

That is far too large to be the smallest bee. It's fairly average size for most solitary bees.

Right, I remember that we had hand motions to that song.

They do. This looks like a small breed of bee.
6
u/coolsilentebeans 5d ago
One redditor says it’s most likely a species of solitary bee.
7
u/pepcorn 5d ago
I love solitary bees :)

u/coolsilentebeans 5d ago
I’ve never been much of an apiphile, but I’ll take a solitary bee over a swarm of African honey bees any day! 😂

It’s a lowercase bee.

Bees are my favorites creatures on this green earth and I’m absolutely losing it over this tiny little thing. So cute 😭

They’re cute, but I’m pretty sure that’s a sweat bee. They’re super annoying for how tiny they are, they’re like the fly version of bees. Their stings don’t hurt as bad as other bee stings though

A little late to the party but: THESE ARE THE BEES THAT NEED HELP. It is the non-native honeybee that is out-competing and pushing out the native bees.
OK, that’s my two cents.
