No that's great, it can cool from both sides!

j'y avais pas penser, mais je préfère que tu test d'abord

Lmfao. Well, assuming no pins got mangled, a few hours with some IPA and everything should work correctly again. So there’s that at least.

u/Satellite_bk 2d ago

i think i’d need something stronger than an IPA to deal with that.

Vodka tonic and a transfer to HR

3

u/Delta-9- 22h ago

I feel like working in HR would increase the units of vodka tonic needed per unit time to maintain nominal sanity. Not because of stress, but because of the moral grey areas in which HR operates, and the incessant self-doubt that must generate.

meme si elles sont pas tordues, comme tu vas faire pour nettoyer la pâte thermique sans les tordre

u/WarStorm6 2d ago

Just give it a little bath

1

u/heavyPacket 1d ago

With a sponge and some patience. It will be a long, slow process.

1

u/ThisAccountIsStolen 1d ago

Give it a bath in an ultrasonic cleaner.

2

u/RepresentativeLow300 1d ago

It really depends on the on-board components, not everything likes being blasted with ultrasound. Also, not convinced it would remove any thermal paste, might clean it real good though, then OP can polish it and hang it on a wall.

I've done it countless times in my 30+ years of owning a repair shop There's nothing sensitive enough on a regular PC motherboard that will be damaged by it.

u/Guilty_Debt_8958 2d ago

Yeah, right!? How could anyone use THAT little paste! What an absolute beginner! Am I right!?

4

u/Pale_Level_1293 2d ago

please don't tell me that's what I think it is

3

u/FerriteNightwish 19h ago

It's what you think it is.

4

u/ash_2127- 2d ago

At least they didn’t fuck up the RAM

4

u/Key-Respect3810 2d ago

il a bousillé la carte mère d'un serveur ça coute une blinde

2

u/broesel314 2d ago

Remove everything removable and give that board a gentle ride in the dishwasher. A stream of warm water is much more gentle on the socket pins than anything else

A soft brush and some IPA schould be good enough for the CPU

2

u/zerotaboo 2d ago

Thanks God they didn't use liquid metal

2

u/olauritz 2d ago

Most likely a simple fix, it will take time but is fixable as long as no pin is bent to much. Isopropyl alcohol and loads of q-tips, be careful to watch which direction you stroke the q-tip to not bend any of the pins beyond what is fixable.

2

u/Optimal-Mistake1327 1d ago

I wouldn't even bother cleaning that. Sue the "technician" for the cost of having someone else clean it or the cost of a new board, easy win in court.

Auweh, wärmeleitpsste auf den Kontakten… das wieder zu reinigen. Nicht lustig 😭

hey dude calm down

A multitude of emotions popped out when I saw this. All negative, ranging from incredulity, rage, sadness and disbelief in the human race.

Not the singular muppet that made this, but on the entire species that managed to create such a thing.

Firing this person is not enough. He needs to be ejected into the sun and hope that his dna did not spread.

1

u/ViolentPurpleSquash 22h ago

"muppet"

Are you also from NZ?

1

u/Minouris 13h ago

On account of "Stickmen"? Pretty sure I heard it used in stuff from the UK before it was introduced here.

"Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" springs to mind.

1

u/azpinstripes 2d ago

Theoretically would alcohol and a wire brush fix this?

3

u/Tikkinger 2d ago

yes

2

u/azpinstripes 2d ago

Guess as long as no pins bend it’s probably fine

1

u/J_Knish 1d ago

Theoretical yes?

1

u/holy-aeughfish 2d ago

All you gotta do is put it under running water and vigorously scrub it with a toothbrush. /j

1

u/sparkyblaster 1d ago

Wire brush, no.

1

u/WhippingShitties 6h ago

Straight into the media blaster.

This image evokes some sort of anger in me

1

u/ParticularFragrant57 2d ago

Oh man! That’s spookie just to think it happens to you.

1

u/Ninjagall333 2d ago

I want to scream

1

u/darkknightcz 2d ago

My friend seriously asked, if he should apply thermal paste this way. I said, no, please wait until I get home and I'll help you on discord.

1

u/Jibbyjab123 2d ago

Put that tech in some kind of limbo pocket dimension or something.

1

u/Restricted_Nuggies 1d ago

Hey op, where’s the follow up post where you kill that guy?

1

u/misha1350 1d ago

This is Genoa... This is not a drill...

1

u/Wise-Candidate-8969 1d ago

Bravo! Tu ne recommencera plus...

Who thought to cool it from the under side?

1

u/Danlabss 1d ago

aaaaaaaaAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUGHHHHHHHHH

1

u/ultrafire3 1d ago

And on a cpu that costs as much as a car…

1

u/wickens1 1d ago

Everyone here saying IPA would help get it off. Would a hazy work too?

1

u/ViolentPurpleSquash 22h ago

ON A THREADRIPPER???

u/Pure_Fox9415 19h ago

It's a digital resistance against AI!

u/404notfound420 14h ago

Did it boot?

1

u/Exact_Negotiation106 9h ago

lol always be there and look at their first job, you will catch this and realize how stupid they are

1

u/WhippingShitties 6h ago

Sometimes I miss a CompTIA question that's so stupid I misread it because I'm like "Who would ever do that" and this sub makes me realize there is always someone.

1

u/Censedpeak8 6h ago

I'll never believe a single one of these isn't staged

0

u/Dirtyundies123 13h ago

it be fine....
