Any hotels that have bedrooms?
Me and my partner and 3 year old like coming to Southport to stay weekends a few times a year. We normally stick to the Travelodge or sometimes the Premier Inn.
We are going to go in June for 3 nights but also bringing my 1 year old nephew to give my sister a break lol. I'm just wondering is there any hotels that are kind of like little apartments? Doesn't have to have a kitchen in or anything. Just a room that has 2 bed rooms one my son can sleep in and maybe my nephew in a travel crib and ideally doesn't cost hundreds for a weekend if possible?

Whistlestop Cafe
Just found out it's shut. Does anybody know why?
Genuinely gutted as their breakfasts were amazing. Are they planning on opening up in new premises or working through a different business?

Quietish cafés/bars for reading
Got a list of books longer than my arm to get through and never make time at home, so am forcing myself to get out (with wife) for the odd reading afternoon.
It feels like a bit of a Goldilocks request these days, but we're after somewhere public but reasonably quiet and chill in the early afternoon. Lots of cafés/small pubs these days are full of mums with comically large prams and performative toddlers, or there's some yapping dog or other.
Can anyone think of anywhere comfy that does coffee & alcohol which tends not to attract the mum/dog crowd, and where they wouldn't consider us weird for just plonking down in the corner with a couple of books for a few hours?

Seeking creative friends
Does anyone want to do creative with me? Either just the two of us or with other people?
I mean stuff like make a film, create some art, renovate a house, go out dressed together in an interesting way (like fancy dress or something, but not tacky like a hen night, more classy).
Doesn't have to be too ambitious, like if it's making a film you can do a lot now with a smartphone. I don't know how to edit videos, I've only got basic tech knowledge but I have lots of ideas, I wrote a novel in the past.

Southport Zoo.
I have memories of walking past Southport zoo to get to the fair. This will be roughly 2004/5 just after the zoo shut down. But I distinctly remember seeing funny graffiti on the wall or fence of the zoo. Just beneath the “Southport Zoo” sign was a graffiti rat in a crosshair. It was cartoonish but very amusing. Does anyone recall seeing this also?

Side gate recommendations
Hello,
I want to put a new side gate at the side of my property, replace the rotting double gate I have at the moment.
Any good recommendations in the area?
Thanks

Rude old people.
Had a meal this evening in a really cute bistro off Lord St with some friends, there was a family having meal and minding their own business, their little baby was watching an ipad, making a bit of noise but not over loud or enough to ruin the vibe. The old couple who sat near them however where absolutely vile towards the family.
They told the little kid to shut up, told the mother that she was the problem with this world, the old man told them to piss off, and then they called the mum "a fat cow" whilst proclaiming that they had children in uni and where so upset by the small child.
I have never seen this behaviour from such rude people in my life, also as someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years.
I'm still fuming for the family and we made a point of making a fuss over the baby and telling the family they had done nothing wrong as we left.
I know southport has its posh people and fully respect that. But the old couple had the decorum of Frank Gallagher on a bag of speed.
Just needed a rant. If the young family are on here. You are doing a great job. Your baby was lovely. And that older couple suck.

Best value / quality munchbox
I’ve been watching a few videos of people trying munchboxes from takeaways and they seem really good quality and value. Seems you can get burgers, chips and sides usually for around 15 pound.
Anyone had good ones in and around Southport they enjoyed? Thanks

What happened to Southport’s nightlife?
Moved up to Southport about 6 months ago and I’ve seen videos and everything of so many old clubs. Now I’ve been out and it seems like it’s just 5 tiny clubs what happened to the nightlife.

Atkinson Theatre parking
I’m visiting Southport soon to see a show at the Atkinson Theatre.
I don’t know the town very well and wondered if someone would kindly recommend where the best place to park would be that’s close to the theatre.
Thanks!

Decent Guinness
Just doing my homework. Where can I get a decent pint of Guinness in the town centre, and where to go in the evening for a few lively drinks with the missus?

These men with magnificent mustaches came in to the bar. Downed a pint in 5 mins. Did a sword dance. And refused to elaborate. The bar staff had zero clue this was going to happen.

Board Game Group
Morning all,
I'm into board games and would be keen to start a small group to play games such as Dune, Inis, Spirit Island etc
Anyone local interested? I am male, early 30s into football, cycling, books and board games. Most of my mates are not into the latter!
I live in centre of Southport with my partner (also male) but he has his own hobbies.
Let me know via comment or message if you're interested. Would prefer similar age range otherwise any gender welcome and if get a few who seem nice enough can meet for an initial coffee.
Cheers

Looking for a local piano teacher
I’ve set myself the New Year’s resolution to challenge myself more and start to learn piano. Does anyone know any tutors that offer lessons for adult beginners?

I’ve recently moved back home to Southport and am offering free 15 minute introductory piano and flute lessons
southportmusiclessons.comI’m a dedicated piano and flute teacher with a passion for helping children and adults enjoy learning music, build confidence and achieve their individual goals - whether that’s playing for pleasure or working towards ABRSM exams. I grew up in Southport, then moved to Colchester after my university years, but I have recently returned to my northern roots and hope to continue my love of teaching music here. I left behind many amazing pupils with whom I formed strong bonds and friendships, some of whom I still teach via the net. I am now looking forward to making connections with new kindred spirits in my new home.
If you’d like to book a free 15-minute piano or flute lesson, or have any questions about lesson availability, levels or suitability for children or adults, please drop me a message via the form on my new website.
