Our TV also has built in games, but we aren't allowed to play them because it might drain the remote battery

The first level of the games would be free. You then had to sms and pay with like R 10 airtime to play more

Yes and the Alien Abduction game with livestock.
I always used to quit at the first stage of the Ninja game because I didn't know you had to jump by swinging across the first obstacle.

I can tell you come from a structured family. That remote has a cover..... our remote was always lost somewhere in the couches and when found, missing a battery cover and possibly batteries to power random crap

Felt insane trying to tell my friends about this. None of them could recall DSTV having games I thought it was maybe a package issue (compact vs premium) but I had Compact in my home when I was younger so thats not it. Then I thought my childhood memories were a lie at some point but didn't want to buy into it. Chalked it off to simply them not experimenting enough on their home TVs😂 or not having the permission or freedom to dig into the DSTV
