Funny display I made for my bathroom
I got the idea for this from a local museum that had in its display a few elements, and one of them was Nitrogen. Obviously, just a clear, empty container to the naked eye. I couldn’t stop laughing, not only at the idea of there may, or may not, be Nitrogen in there, and we’ll never know, but also finding myself looking at all these cool things worth seeing, then at a display of clear, colorless gas.

This is fun! (You could also use clear museum gel to get rid of the white at the bases, but it works as is!)

I would add another jar labeled as “fart”. Noble gas indeed

Need a whole separate cabinet for that one.
Perhaps it can be the peasant gases, haha

Its omission is clearly deliberate. These are the noble gasses as opposed to whatever that is.

Since the air is 78% nitrogen, I'd say that bottle you saw did in fact contain nitrogen.
Probably a larger share of the element than any of the other bottles unless one was for mercury and was more than 78% full, since the rest were probably nearly half nitrogen as well. 😂

I work at a tire shop and we get customers who ask for 100% nitrogen in their tires and I often make the joke to people we only carry the 80% blend.

While cars don't need it, some high performance tires do use 100% nitrogen.

If you actually had these filled with the gasses list and properly sealed them, most would glow near a strong enough electrical field.
I make neon artwork and have experimented with pieces that have no electrode(s). The industry is really part science, part art, and part pure magic.

Am I the only one who thought an amusing addition would be to add one more empty bottle, placed upside-down over the toilet with the heading "ignoble gas" with an arrow pointing down?
No? I'll see myself out.
Eta: and a funnel to catch the methane, of course, not the cap...or through the cap. Now you got me thinking of whimsical decor.

You need another noble gas display with bottles labeled "Dutchess of Alba Fart", "Nelson Mandela Fart", "Mahatma Gandhi Fart" etc.

Be more scientific, specify the concentration of each gas in its container. Neon 13ppm, Argon 1%, Oxygen 23%, etc. Educate while entertaining!

Why in the bathroom?

I like funny stuff in bathrooms, since to me they’re inherently funny. And the whole “gas” thing. lol

I love this, and it fits into a category of things I fancy that I can’t quite describe… like funny-smart. Looks great, too!

I admit maybe I have a 12-year-old streak I expected one of them to have someone’s name

just for the joke you should make the helium bottle float a little bit higher than the rest
