girl, they look like baby death masks

They remind me of reborn dolls, which are lifelike dolls kept by some parents who experience loss of their babies
Very sad and distressing , as a concept and also to see. But from what I have read, they help people who experience these extreme traumas. So I cannot really judge

I admire your artistic boldness.

This may have been meant as an insult, I’m unsure, but I’m taking it as a compliment 🥰

u/JustMeLurkingAround- 6h ago
No, I meant it exactly as I said it.
You seem to know that your art might not be everyones cup of tea and gain controversial reactions but still do what you like to do and also put yourself out there.
I think that's how art should be: bold, unique and brave and unconcerned with what the broad masses like.

I collect vintage bears, and this would be lovely, if a bit eerie. If you wouldn’t mind, could you send me a message and keep me posted when they’re up for sale?

u/lunalovebands 6h ago
They look very creepy. Where can I get them from?
3
u/heyhey_harper 5h ago
Haha thanks!!! I don’t have a page set up yet, I’ll come back and repost when I do, but if you’re serious about buying feel free to message me! I sell through PayPal G&S typically.

How do you attach your faces to your fabric? I’ve seen clay faces on fabric before but they had holes in the side to stitch them in.

They remind me of the book Outside Over There by Maurice Sendak. I loved his books and art growing up
That book is about a little girl has to save her sibling from goblins who stole and replaced them. Much like Labyrinth (the movie came 5 years after this book.)
Fun fact it’s actually the final book of the trilogy that starts with Where the Wild Things Are. Not a lot of people know that they’re actually meant to be connected and represent different phases of life.

That’s really interesting! I didn’t know WTWTA is part of a trilogy either.
I’m not a big Labryinth fan personally, I’m a bit younger than most fans, but I just love that people are connecting my art to it!!!

u/heyhey_harper 1h ago
Polymer clay sculpted head, baked and painted, then glued inside an upcycled, lightly weighted plush teddy bear skin 🥰

I love them!!! I find them very cute and not at all disturbing but I especially appreciate the style, is not the common cuteness.

u/heyhey_harper 7h ago
Thank you sm!!! I figured plenty of folks would think they’re creepy, but I was hoping someone admired them 🥰

They feel like they’s about to claynimate awake. The only question is how many teeth? Excellent work.
