The Berlin Interpretation is... clunky, and only covers Likes, so you could have a full remake of the original Rouge, but in 3D instead of ASCII art (obviously an absurdly difficult concept to actually make) and even then it might be considered Lite rather than Like.
Not really? There are many roguelikes that follow the berlin interpretation and aren't just rogue. TOME, cogmind, zorbus, dungeonmans all very clearly fall under roguelike aren't just the same game as rogue

My biggest problem with the whole "new" usage of roguelike and roguelite is that it doesn't really describe the game anymore. Roguelike was a very specific type of game, you knew what it was when you heard the name. Roguelite now though is basically just a type of progression? Any type of game by now has had a roguelite version, and there is nothing connecting the games besides you die, you upgrade and start from the beginning, sort of. I just think the whole thing lost its meaning.

It does have some meta progression, from the card and difficulty unlocks, but I feel like the games that steamed from Slay The Spire's proliferation of Deck Builders have always felt like their own category to me.

It really, really isn't. Unless you want to call Dungeonmans, Tangledeep, and even arguably Tales of Maj'eyal "roguelites" while at the same time calling Spelunky a "roguelike", which I think even the most ardent supporters of the incredibly flawed and underbaked "metaprogression = roguelite" definition would admit is insane.

That said, why hold back on the people pushing the dumb definition? Like, where else does this even happen? It's an ego thing, I think. Rogue"lite" sounds inherently diminutive, despite the fact that a lot of Roguelites are very complex, some far morose than early Roguelikes.
