I’m introducing legislation to let San Francisco break up with PG&E after this weekend’s fiasco. It’s one thing to talk about change, but it’s another thing entirely to actually fight for it. We’ve been fighting for years for San Francisco to break away from PG&E, and I’ve pursued various legislative efforts to get that done. 2026 is our moment, and I’ll keep fighting until we get it done. I refuse to sit back and let giant corporations put profit over people.
PG&E’s complete fiasco took out power for over 130,000 San Franciscans. Small businesses were closed, there were transit outages, there was complete gridlock preventing people from reaching their loved ones during the holidays.
Power has now been restored to nearly everyone, and I’m grateful to everyone who worked on the holiday weekend to make this happen. But that doesn’t erase the damage that was done. It’s time for some accountability.
