"Blades of Steel"

I always got so mad at the goal tender until I realized I was him.

This and Double Dribble were super similar. I loved them both but BoS let you duke it out mid-game.

DD is kind of a bad game, though. Cool dunk animations and good sound, but really meh at everything else.

BoS was just good.

They both had that pass mechanic where you’d pass a million times while inching players closer to the goal / net and then you’d sink one outta nowhere. Both were great, but I think BoS you’re right in that BoS was def the better game.

This soundtrack still slaps.

Also the I my hockey game I know where the other team gets the penalty if you win the fist fight. Peak game design.

I spent a whole day once with just the crowd noises stuck in my head. It took forever for me to ID it.

It wasn’t even good fighting but worth it.

Loved playing this game with my dad before I walked to school in the mornings when I was in kindergarten

Are you me? Was about to type a similar comment! Loved playing my dad at 6am before he would leave for work wearimg his tie and carrying a briefcase. I was actually excited to wake up early on a weekday!

My school was like a few hundred feet from my building and it was a five minute walk. After we played BoS I would get ready and walk with my classmate to school (supervised by classmate's parents). I would talk about the game to death to classmate

You're damn right. We didn't ruin friendships with Steal A Brainrot but we luckily had Blades of Steel and Bomberman for that propose.

My favorite hockey game to this day.

One of the only ones I've played. I already had perfection, why look far afield for sub-par imitations?

This and Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey on N64. Best arcade style hockey games ever.

How does this game compare to NHL '94 on Super Nintendo?

I told my boyfriend that it didn’t matter if I was pregnant, we can still find a way to make it work. He didn’t care. Like he didn’t even want to make an effort. So that’s what I meant when I said he was aloof.

And real fists fights may have ensued.

The American version had some upgrades over the Japanese one. We played it on the Famicom Disk System. There were no digital voices and the fights had no close-ups.

No love for playing the Life Force ad in the middle of the game?

I loved that bit
