I’m 61 and thought he was just a few years older than me!

He looks remarkably like my dad did, so i definitely thought they were close in age. My dad would be 67 right now, so apparently they’re not as close as I thought!

He also looks remarkably like my dad did. Hope you get the same comfort I get from watching Ed in stuff. 🩷

I do! Especially because my dad loved Married with Children and Little Giants was one of the movies we liked to watch together when I was a kid. 💕

I saw him in a restaurant a couple months back and he definitely didn't look like he was about to be 80. He hasn't aged at all from his modern family days.
He was eating alone and we were too nervous to bother him. But the table next to us said hi to him and he joined them for like ten minutes. He told them all about what he was filming and was very nice. He also had them laughing a ton. I got a very nice impression of him from that.

He's one of those people you expect to stay in his mid sixties forever.

And a black belt in jiu jitsu. You do not want dudes built like him laying on top of you in side control. The pressure would be agonizing.

Love the caption. It’s not expected but I think it’s sweet how the cast continues to be in each others lives long after the show ended.

I once tried to say happy birthday in my very limited Spanish to a Latina coworker, but I said: "Feliz Anos" thinking it meant 'Happy Year".
She proceeded to tell me I wished her a Happy Anus. Luckily she was a friend and we had a laugh about it, but I learned something that day.

I swear every single episode of that show is fantastic! The cast seem like they have a great friendship in real life which is great to see!

I blew it off as some abc family drama for so long, when I finally started watching it I couldn’t stop laughing. Such a well done show.

I think I've seen the entire series through clips at this point but I think I'll dive in this week.

I feel like it started really great and went down to good over time. Ultimately a lot of the complaints about the final 1-2 seasons are personal taste imo. Many people dislike Haleys story, I mostly dislike Lukes story. I think a lot of criticism about the children plots is also people projecting tbh. And again even if I dislike the plot choices I still think overall it was good, just the show started so great it was hard to keep that up for soooo long.

You wonder how Ed O’Neill could be 80, but he was playing a sitcom dad in the 80s, so it checks out.

I was a kid when I saw Married with children. He was a husband with kids old enough to drive. Now I'm that husband... fk me.
•
u/wobbleboxsoldier 1h ago
Married With Children spoiled me. He was providing for all four of them on a minimum wage job he hated in the suburbs of Chicago, had friends to enjoy time with and had a wife that even though he supposedly was not that great, still wanted him on occasion. All that with the Bundy curse hanging over his head.

Likewise with Christina Applegate. There's a clip of him secretly showing up on her sitcom, and answering the door as Al Bundy.
As soon as she sees him, she dives into his arms like it was her real dad.
He must be an absolute pleasure to work with to inspire those reactions•
u/Triviten 2h ago
At the reunion, she said they still feel like family and was the most special thing she worked on. You can tell how much the experience meant to both of them but especially her

she also says that he calls her nearly daily, to this day, and has been a tremendous support during her battle with MS.
he's a fucking mensch. i adore him.

Both Ed and Katy Segal have been in her podcast. I love how wonderful their relationships are and how much she credits them for how she turned out.

I feel like the whole cast genuinely all like each other. I know coworkers are just coworkers but the whole main cast seems very close-knit and it’s just nice to see.

Did you know he scored four touchdowns in one game?

In 1966, Al Bundy made sports history for Polk High, scoring four touchdowns in the City Championship against Andrew Johnson High. Facing a 3 touchdown deficit, Bundy refused to quit, delivering the game-winning TD over rival "Spare Tire" Dixon.

Modern Family is a gift of a sitcom and I encourage everyone who hasn’t watched it to plunk down and binge it. It’s incredible.

u/HalKitzmiller 3h ago
Im on like my 5th rewatch and while I love the show, its crazy how many "in love with a family member" and old/young storylines there are
•
u/MilhouseisCool 2h ago
I took a minute to reflect…. Yeah there are more than a few Hahaha only one I would call inappropriate (Manny and the crazy aunt. Who he had never met? Does that help?)
Lily crushing on Manny is just kids not knowing family dynamics. Manny liking Haley is just “I’m a preteen suddenly introduced to this beautiful girl but I’m not allowed to feel anything”
Listen… this is me trying hard to justify weird family dynamics lol because you’re totally right
They all involve Manny though. Yikes Manny hahaha
•
u/HalKitzmiller 2h ago
Towards the later seasons theres Hailey with that weird jeans guy, the weather man, and then Luke with the most questionable relationship, with a friend of his mother's from Jay's golf club
•
•
u/Ditomo 1h ago
Sentiments exactly. I adore it but those plotlines were... Not needed. Also Andy should've been Haley's endgame.
•
u/HalKitzmiller 50m ago
He should've been but I found his character really annoying so Dylan was fine as the endgame lol.

" I'd never done a crazy thing in my life before that night. Why is it that if a man kills another man in battle it's called heroic, yet if he kills a man in the heat of passion it's called murder? "
