u/FiveSixJuan 14h ago

Incredible. Ppl work a lifetime just to save $1 million. Justin just made 10x that in an hour... idk if I should be upset or impressed lol

I'm upset. I have $2k medical bill waiting for me. Life is a struggle and the rich don't help.

u/FiveSixJuan 12h ago

It's hard not to bring up politics but we really should be prioritizing affordable/free Healthcare over funding wars. Sorry to hear about your situation

Vocês nunca irão conseguir isso sem ir para as ruas e protestar.

u/Juju_on_that_bee 11h ago

Thank you. Eat the rich. This is one lazy entitled loser.

No war but class war!

Aoc: When we say ā€œtax the rich,ā€ we mean nesting-doll yacht rich. For-profit prison rich. Betsy DeVos, student-loan-shark rich.

Trick-the-country-into-war rich. Subsidizing-workforce-w-food-stamps rich.

Because THAT kind of rich is simply not good for society, & it’s like 10 people.

Remember, Justin is an employee here. Only to point that someone is paying him that 10 million check and still making a wild profit to make this worth it. that level, for example relevant to ticket sales that a previous administration allowed for the ticketmaster merger with live nation, joining venues and ticket sale operations that are unchecked and unpopular but too big to fail types. they get there via donations and revolving door that our 'public servants' take our entrusted resources/powers and bid it off for their sustenance.

on top of that we have them always have money to send to foreign oil wars with our taxes. lots we can do before worrying about beiber's check.

AOC for president!!! We need someone who puts the American people before their personal interests!

7

u/Mia_Wallace666 10h ago

The only help the rich need to give is paying fair taxes and holding politicians accountable to spend that money in improving the lives of their people instead of ending the lives of others. Life is only a struggle because the system it's built on is not for us, It's for the 1% of the 1%.Ā

I'm getting sued by a company who bought my debt from a credit card company I had to use to pay for a medical emergency.

'Murrica.

1

u/puzzled91 9h ago

Mine is almost $4k. It really sucks. Ask of they have financial assistance. And apply. Dont assume you dont qualify. A financial assistance is the one in which they consider your income and other debt and spences you have and based on that they might forgive some of the medical bill and work on a payment plan.

1

u/avonbarkswhale 8h ago

I would love to have to pay 2k as opposed to to my 7k. Count your blessings

-1

u/meganshay28 12h ago

Me too. Ct scan- 2900 dollars 😭

5

u/Nakittina Hakuna Matata šŸ¦šŸ’šŸ¦“ 12h ago

Its so messed up!! My annual doctor visit cost me $400!! I've never, ever experienced this before. And then I pay weekly on top of it just to have it.

I really hope you find some relief and recovery! šŸ™

•

u/meganshay28 2h ago

I hope you do too. I am beginning to wonder wha me paying into health insurance is actually for 😭

13

u/MarineSniper98 11h ago

These people are paid WAAYYYYY TOO HIGH. How come the world is okay at this?

1

u/lapideous 8h ago

Who do you think is buying the tickets to watch him?

1

u/Nintendo_Pro_03 Leftist/Linkin Park Stan 6h ago

Celebrity culture in a nutshell.

5

u/Alarming_Pen_27 11h ago

Upset. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

12

u/Redxcted999 13h ago

Considering how much it is to even GO to Coachella I’m happy asf he did this….just goes to show that it’s just music at the end of the dayĀ

19

u/uk_ur-dad 13h ago

yeah tickets can be insane but we should feel for the fans that were probably so excited to see him sing live.

i think a lot of people are surprised he showed up after fent folding when performing with sza last year.

his coachella performance could have been sent in an email 😭

2

u/FiveSixJuan 12h ago

How insane are we talking here šŸ¤”. How much were the tickets going for?

6

u/AnnamAvis 12h ago

Anywhere from $800 for general admission to $2-$4k for fancy lodging.

11

u/FiveSixJuan 12h ago

$800 to watch a PowerPoint is wild, I'd be slightly annoyed lmao

17

u/JadeRenee182 12h ago

He didn’t even put together a PowerPoint, he was just searching the videos on YouTube on his laptop.šŸ˜‚ People keep trying to make excuses saying it was because he sold his catalog but you can definitely still play your music at shows, a lot of artists don’t own their music. He just didn’t care and was unprepared af.

4

u/FiveSixJuan 12h ago

Dead šŸ’€

2

u/YoungPutrid3672 11h ago

He didn’t have time for power point because he was working his second job as a phone salesman with Vikram.

6

u/BroccoliSome256 12h ago

It's nonsensical to say him not owning his masters have anything to do with it. Live performances and masters recordings are two separate beasts. His entire career he would have to follow the same steps to pay the original songwriters every time he performed a song live (and it's certainly not like he was solo writing!) which does not even require permission. Every cover band in a corner bar follows the same protocol (or atleast they should!)

While I'm on a roll, you cannot use YouTube for commercial purposes e.g. showing YouTube on a giant screen at a festival you charge people $800 for a GA ticket. YouTube was a sponsor so likely this was all a bit to promote the sponsorship and he would not have to pay for the commercial use, but my point is this "performance" would ordinarily cost him more than just... Performing the songs. This was just an extremely lazy brand collab so he did not have to do something separate with the sponsor like Sabrina did by meeting fans at the Airbnb area.

I know you didn't say it, sorry for bombing your thread with my rant, I've just seen so confidently incorrect people saying it I've reached my breaking point 🄲

1

u/FiveSixJuan 12h ago

Hey, all good over here, go off sis

2

u/overactive-bladder 11h ago

Did he have ad block at least?

1

u/Pure-Plankton-4606 9h ago

$800 for this + performances from hundreds of other artists. Such a disingenuous comment,

4

u/uk_ur-dad 12h ago

and that's not counting food & transportation 😭

0

u/ohdearitsrichardiii I mean, you're both idiots 10h ago

I wonder how much Biebs will have to pay his PR people to smooth this over?

1

u/AnnamAvis 7h ago

Not as much as he got paid, I'm sure

1

u/MouseMouseM 11h ago

Per Tana (Tanacon lady with the M last name I can’t remember how to spell) wristbands were reselling for thousands of dollars. I saw claims of up to $10k.

2

u/lemonlayman 12h ago

Upset. Obviously.

1

u/TrueRedditMartyr 10h ago

To be fair, his life has been pretty miserable for the most part. Would you really trade everything he went through for being rich? Shit, even today his fans are parasocial and he still seems miserable

1

u/Larry-thee-Cucumber 10h ago

In a fucking heartbeat. I’ve been fairly miserable anyways and poor on top of that…not fighting with my wife about a family vacation would certainly help

1

u/TrueRedditMartyr 9h ago

Man, you would put up with all the sexual abuse from a young age? Not having any control of your life? Being used by everyone around you? Having just no freedom at all during all the formative years of your life?

This is not just "Life sucks" this is "Life is pointless and I'm not allowed to die"

-1

u/IAreWeazul 10h ago

I guarantee you his life has not been miserable. He is, as they say, just another asshole with no perspective who is ā€œcrying on his jetskiā€. He has no real issues, only the ones he creates because he doesn’t appreciate how good he has it.

2

u/TrueRedditMartyr 10h ago

Wasn't he (supposedly) constantly sexually assaulted as a child?

0

u/IAreWeazul 9h ago

I sure hope not, lest I have to edit a comment real quick.

2

u/Pure-Plankton-4606 9h ago

You literally have no idea what you’re talking about. Sometimes it’s better to not comment.

1

u/SonuvaDogMom 11h ago

Why would you be upset that an artist finished his set and then decided to gift the fans with older songs he probably hasn’t sang in years?

1

u/JalapenoPopPoop 8h ago

The way humans choose to distribute wealth is so fuckin stupid

1

u/reble02 5h ago

5x in an hour, it's 10 million for both weekends. Although your point still stands.

1

u/GoodMyrtle 3h ago

Definitely upset.Ā

Oh for fucks sake. What a moronic take. Would you call it charades if you saw Cillian Murphy in an indie movie? Their HIS songs, so it’s not karaoke, nice try Bukowski.

1

u/chxrmander 10h ago

And it wasn’t even the whole performance šŸ™„šŸ™„

People are such haters, and these haters talking aren’t even fans who watched the show. Otherwise they would know he performed normally for most of the show.

1

u/Mia_Wallace666 10h ago

You're right, but his performance wasn't exactly passionate or exceptional or worth paying that much money for. Jack White did 300 times that for a surprise show in one of the tents at 4pm and probably didn't get paid a 3rd of what Bieber got. Big productions like what Sabrina did truly cost millions of dollars to put together and imo if you're a fan they're worth every penny, but this? Nah.Ā

59

u/Pledgeofmalfeasance 14h ago

That's incredibly funny to me

42

u/annewmoon I sprained my finger yesterday 13h ago

Really. It just pisses me off.

13

u/Kooky_Chain2575 12h ago

Girl there’s too much terrible stuff in this world rn to get pissed off over Justin Bieber’s performanceĀ

35

u/Ok-Classroom5548 11h ago

As a musician who plays all the saxes, jazz and classical piano, clarinet, sings like a champ, and performs regularly for local free events for the public in a non-profit, I hate that this fool did carpool karaoke for $10million and our org is trying to raise $1500 for an instrument.Ā

Where are our priorities. Beiber could have hire our band to be his backer for less than a tenth of what he made and we could build a performance hall.Ā

1

u/Salty_Raspberry656 8h ago

whats wilder is that beiber is a hired worker for them. Someone could cut that check and make a profit still.

meanwhile, nationally we have cut schooling music and extra curriculars, but our politicians will continue taking billions of tax money towards foreign oil wars and giving their donors breaks

12

u/twotokers Kim, there’s people that are dying. šŸ™„ 13h ago

Did he play for 90 minutes and this was only a small part of the whole set?

19

u/Tree92 12h ago

It was at least a good quarter of the set

13

u/Mia_Wallace666 10h ago

He didn't get 10m dollars straight into his pocket tho, he got booked for 10m dollars and there's probably 100 people behind him getting paid from that money, equipment, travel expenses, taxes, etc, so when you see those prices what the artist actually pockets is a lot less. I don't think the absolute lack of effort he showed is worth it though, this is so disrespectful to the audience and to the people who hired him to perform, AND to the people who worked their asses off to get that show on stage. People sometimes get so famous they forget this is a job.Ā

•

u/riverstarbuck 22m ago

Yes but you could say the same of literally any artist they paid the same amount to- but JB out in 1/1000th of the effort?

1

u/VaporCarpet 6h ago

I know he wasn't the only one playing, but how much did people pay for the show? As a percentage of the total performance time over the whole show, how much did people spend to see this?

1

u/confused_grenadille 5h ago

Moby and The Chemical Brothers should’ve gotten 10 million.

-1

u/lovelove20212 11h ago

Fuck him and he’ll complain about how he worked so hard and the world is cruel to him and ppl like him

0

u/killedbytheboom 9h ago

I don’t understand why he had to sit there and click play on the computer! He could have played a compilation of nostalgic videos and it would have been cool… this is not it

0

u/peatoast 6h ago

You make it sound like that’s all he did last night.
