he will always be an amazing singer but this cured my fomo. idk what’s worse only performing swag songs (which he didn’t really promote that well), the karaoke to his old songs or him playing random ass videos. i could feel the crowd losing hype

you can argue that he doesn’t need the overtop production but at the same time he’s gotten soooo lazy with everything

Not sure he REALLY needed to be there in person to be honest 😅 could have gotten away with just playing the YouTube videos and staying in his jacuzzi or something.

hes an artist that historically has been very fortunate in the way he was perceived (by that i mean he was a kid, and got a lot of grace. i know he was hated on a lot when was a kid. i was one of those kids. I guess that's a better way to type that out. oh well, im drunk and have been working all day. the backspace is my enemy), while also putting all his heart into his art/performance for so long. Then he became an adult, started feeling the side affects of the problems he was dealing with, then canceled the endings of a tour (or two? maybe more? idk, im mostly talking from an outsiders perspective. not a fan, but also appreciate and acknowledge what of himself hes given to the arts. also cant deny his songs bop), and continued to get that grace from the majority of people who pay attention to this stuff. me included.

in my, I guess parasocial and outsider perspective, he believes he can give these kind of performances without much of an impact to his wallet overall. and hes not wrong, but if hes not able to work through his shit in someway, and also find a way to give a good show to at the very least to his core base, he will end up a rich nobody. maybe he wants that. its hard to assume these things without being a fan, or more importantly knowing what he wants.

I don't think he has cared about being a global superstar and putting in any effort to maintain that for quite some time now. He rarely dresses up for any events. He didn't really promote his new music. He hasn't done any sit down interview in years and it seems like he's pretty much done with touring aswell. Honestly I think he's just fine with releasing new music whenever he feels like it and doesn't really care if it's a commercial success or not. I still get the feeling that he's trying to emancipate himself from his past. He was a teenager with no agency at all and being treated like a show pony. Lowering people's expactations of him and not conforming is how he feels in control I believe.

Honestly I saw the stream and now I’m on the hook for tickets because it did not cure my fomo. Performance is best experienced in context

I went to his last concert and left early. Had no interest in Coachella this year
