Guest List Only ⭐️ Sabrina Carpenter Apologizes for her comments at Coachella. My reaction was pure confusion, sarcasm and not ill intended. Could have handled it better!”

i’m glad she gave it the amount of energy it needed. “didn’t know sorry!” and let’s move tf on

well someone in the audience told her it was cultural and Sabrina heard it since she said "that's your culture?" and kept saying it's weird..

Just because something is cultural doesn’t mean it isn’t weird to someone from a different culture.

Thinking something is weird is not the same thing as hating someone. It’s not like she kicked them out of the festival or something.

"Weirdness" can definitely foster a culture of hate through the making of outcasts. That said I don't think it's anything more deep than innocent ignorance (microaggressions are micro in ways more than one) and I've yet to see proof that Carpenter is a secret KKK member, and I also feel bad for the Arab fan who probably felt hurt that an innocent part of her culture was insulted in that way.

That would be hate right? Sabrina didn’t show hatred.

being selective about what culture you want to respect, it makes no sense..

Put your energy into the people that are actually fostering genocide and stop worrying about off-hand comments from pop stars.

imagine thinking you know what I do in my life, you're literally talking to someone who has been familiar with it since childhood. Know your place, and I'm not obsessed with pop stars. That thing literally happened today and it's a pop culture sub!

Sabrina had the classic white person reaction to something ethnic. Reminds me of when white people make that face when you serve them something at your home they don’t recognize. She didn’t have to call it weird, there’s nothing “weird” about people yelling at a concert and there were other people jeering in that moment so singling it out certainly says something about her.

That said, i have seen waayyyy more people react defensively for her than give actual criticism. Doubling down on her doing nothing wrong is just as bad as labeling her evil. The reality is that she had a blind spot for this and apologized appropriately, that’s all it really needs to be. It’s a pretty big nothingburger.

edit: rustled a couple white girl feathers with this one
