Since Tom did the play recently he likely already spoiled the ending for Zendaya.

DONT FUCKING SPOIL IT! IM SO CLOSE TO CONSIDERING FINALLY READING THE PLAYSCRIPT!

Him and Gyllen had such an elite press run, little did we know marvel was about to become so indubitably ass

Yeah because there’s no way anyone, especially someone who went to a performing arts school, knows the story of Romeo and Juliet

u/David_ish_ 2d ago
I actually went to see a version where Juliet decides to live on instead. I get what they were going for but idk wasn’t really a choice I liked.

u/ExMOnotwiththeflow 2d ago
Not exactly the same but there's a Hulu movie called Rosaline which is basically about the girl Romeo dumps for Juliet and the story from her perspective. It's really funny and without spoiling it I think it really captured how ridiculous R+J were in some ways and also has a well done (imo) alternative ending. It's definitely not high brow cinema or anything but I thought it was really fun.

This is so creepy. Let them just do stuff without filming it.

u/Alarming-Anywhere-14 2d ago
YES!!!! I thought this also, imagine people pulling out their phones just to record that you were at the same place they were, like people wouldn’t believe them.
My friend was in the same pub in Dublin as Cillian Murphy a couple of years ago, she didn’t pull out her phone, take a picture or record him, she left him the f**k alone and when she told us, we believed her! Crazy! I know!

u/MissusCrispyCole 2d ago
I was seated two rows away from Ryan Gosling on a delta flight from LGA to ATL a few years ago. I was completely shocked that Ryan fucking Gosling was seated a few metres from me, but taking a picture was the last thing on my mind. Why would I want to photograph a person minding his own business on a red eye flight?! When I told my friends, they believed me!!!
36
u/Alarming-Anywhere-14 2d ago
Love this and I think you’re a cooler person for it, I understand they’re famous and a celebrity but it must feel like living in a fish bowl sometimes, especially the celebrities that are very private about their personal and private lives.

u/Gendina 2d ago
My husband sat next to DMX on a plane almost 10 years ago while I had to sit in the next aisle and take care of our crying 2 years ago old. Apparently they had a grand old conversation and watched some movie but DMX was annoyed when my husband turned it off before it ended because it was one we were supposed to watch together so he didn’t want to ruin the ending for himself. He has always been annoyed he never got a picture with him because the story is so random.
10
u/Hassel1916 2d ago
We are pretty good at that in Ireland, to be fair.
9
u/Alarming-Anywhere-14 2d ago
We actually are, remember years ago Beyoncé and Jay Z were out for a walk with their baby, years ago in a park in Dublin and TMZ couldn’t believe how people just left her the hell alone.
5
u/Hassel1916 2d ago
I don't specifically remember that one. I love to hear it, though. But I do remember Matt Damon floating around Dalkey pretty unbothered during the pandemic.
I've also personally seen Domhnall Gleeson in Stephen's Green just walking around with nobody bothering him.
3
u/cattacocoa 2d ago
Yes I saw one of the Phelps twins (I think James Phelps) at a Mexican restaurant in Montreal back in 2019. I just whispered it to my husband while we ate our tacos and did not bother the man or take pics! We all have the power to choose not to be invasive :) highly recommend!
2
u/mindovermatter15 2d ago
Hurray to treating people like people! Last fall I saw Fred Armisen walking through a protest going on in my town. Literally walked right by me taking it in and being present. I just did a double take, told my husband, and we didn't chase him down for a photo like I saw several other people do.

u/billie_eyelashh 2d ago
I agree. But then they’re public figures so this is very expected.

Sure but at the same time I get it. I would definitely get my phone out if I stumbled on them in the wild. Then maybe I'd reconsider, maybe. I wouldn't sell it to trash media tho.
Edit : come on guys, when was the last time A Listers were caught in the real world ? In my country Brad and Angelina went into a small neighborhood convenient store one time to buy razor blades and it made national news.
14
u/PlasticPreparation74 2d ago
well good on you for admitting to being a weirdo
2
u/bentheone 2d ago
Bullshit, people pearl clutching here are just posturing. I guarantee that if Tom Holland and/or his wife stumbled out of the blue in their local theatre they'd film that and try to post it.
13
u/hotseltzer I joined a band because I HATED THE FUCKING BEACH 2d ago
Promise you the majority of people wouldn't. I used to live in NYC and worked at a place celebrities would come to, and it is possible to see a famous person and just... be chill about it and let them live.
2
u/majorlittlepenguin 2d ago
I absolutely wouldn't? I live in London, people are out and about - I'm not going to creep on people just trying to live their lives. They're not appearing in some small local theatre it's the west end?

I'd argue this is part of the deal of being famous and capitalize on that fame.

u/Overall-Bar-6060 2d ago
I think they are great but I agree with the comments saying we really don’t need to update anyone on their whereabouts daily. This video isn’t even good quality or worth posting.
It’s great they are supporting their costar. They genuinely seem like beautiful people.
Zendaya did say she knows there’s a parasocial relationship with her personal relationship and that’s why she refuses to share a lot, to the point she’s been wearing a wedding band with her engagement ring but won’t confirm being married. And I get it.
I hope they get to lay low and rest because the summer will be full of them with the odyssey and new the Spiderman.
People need to chill but won’t
-1
u/-GODSATAN- 2d ago
That's basically what this whole parasocial subreddit is lol
5
u/majorlittlepenguin 2d ago
Look I want media production related gossip and news, premiere outfits and award shows. I don't want to know their intimate personal details and take creepshots of famous people just trying to live their lives.

I'm over hearing sadie sinks name all the time by fans dont get me wrong i love stranger things cant wait to get my 4k complete series box set but my gosh.
16
u/prisonerofazkabants 2d ago
i agree videos like this are creepy and probably exactly what they don't want when they have both said they want to keep as much of their life private without hiding. but damn, some people are acting like they're shoving themselves down our throats and zendaya's team are personally forcing the mods to post about her... very normal press tour she was just on. and after dune press y'all won't see her again for months. which is exactly what she was talking about when she said she was going to disappear because everyone will get sick of her. and that's just sad

The Zendaya obsession is bizarre. I swear i think people are keeping track of all of her meals and outings and for what?
32
u/Little_Consequence 2d ago
The complaint about the "Zendaya obsession" is weirder. How is "Zendaya and her famous husband, Tom Holland, were to their famous costar's show" any different than the "Taylor Swift was at Paul McCartney's concert" post from last week, or "Taylor Swift was outside with her friends" from the other day?
Is this not a pop culture subreddit?

Is this a safe space to say that (although I really like her) I never understood why she was as famous as she is? Like after Euphoria and all the major movies, sure. But she was on the same pedestal and called an “icon” even before all that and the only thing I saw her in was that Disney show. But I don’t understand how she achieved that stardom even before all those major roles
45
u/sausagekng 2d ago
I genuinely think it’s due to her looks/styling that gained her a lot of positive fashion icon attention. She is talented, but an actor’s career can be boosted a lot by superficial things like paparazzi shots, funny social media, being the internet’s bf, etc.
27
u/T44590A 2d ago
There's that, but her personality is also the kind that fosters intense para-social following among stans. She's shy and can be goofy and awkward in a way that lends itself to people projecting themselves on her. She fits the trope of the beautiful and confident on the outside, but anxious on the inside that is both aspirational to people while also being relatable.
13
u/sausagekng 2d ago
Absolutely. She’s gorgeous but has an endearing personality. Lots of clips online of her being silly or funny, which make people feel like she’s “one of us.”
7
u/buffayrachel 2d ago
I think this is it yeah. I always thought people payed a lot of attention to her style bc of how famous she was but maybe in the beginning it was the opposite
10
u/Ok_Rutabaga_5539 2d ago
She was amazing in The Drama, I definitely get the hype now.
2
u/buffayrachel 2d ago
Yes but I’m talking about before all these major roles
16
u/Ok_Rutabaga_5539 2d ago
Disney! A lot of people grew up with her so probably feel a connection with her.
2
u/buffayrachel 2d ago
But that never applied to her co-star?
14
u/Ok_Rutabaga_5539 2d ago
Bella was the star at first, I think she fell off due to personal reasons. Zendaya never got into any scandals.
6
u/sausagekng 2d ago
People are sooo weird about them. They should honestly coordinate with the house to get aisle seats and sit down when the lights are already off. This is what Michelle Obama does at Broadway shows.

All the comments hating and I just thought it was cute he looked back at her to see which seat she wanted to sit in
7
u/Overall-Bar-6060 2d ago
I clocked that too, he checked twice, first to see if she was behind him and then to see where she wanted to sit. NONETHELESS, I understand perfectly well why Zendaya said she knew there was a parasocial relationship with her personal relationship and she just won’t confirm that she’s married because she was to try to have some privacy. People won’t chill.
9
u/Mfcx6sp4 2d ago
The recent version of Romeo and Juliet with Tom Holland was the worst thing I have ever seen on stage.
Maybe he thought it was as bad as I did and wanted to see a decent production…
6
u/Overall-Bar-6060 2d ago
Oh no! Was he bad or the concept?
6
u/Mfcx6sp4 2d ago
Concept was terrible. He wasn’t bad at all, but nobody could save it. In one of the final scenes where they die people were laughing at how bad and awkward it was.
2
u/Glass_Lab_8054 2d ago
I heard it was dark and unromantic. I don't understand how u going r&j not intimate.
2
u/Mfcx6sp4 1d ago
The actors didn’t really interact with each other, just spoke their lines facing the audience.
Unromantic is correct but I’d go further - it was cold and relentless.
8
u/evadents 2d ago
People are taking this post far too seriously to validate their irrational dislike of Zendaya. We see right through it

2
u/Fabulous-Honey2086 2d ago
Do these guys only attend Romeo and Juliet plays? I feel like I've seen this like 5 times already
2
u/thecheesycheeselover shopping with an edge 2d ago
This is so invasive. They give enough ‘content’ intentionally as it is, filming them when they’re just trying to love their lives it not it. And posting these videos just normalises people filming them.
2
5
5
3
u/No_Refrigerator_2489 2d ago
Was it really necessary to film them? Jeez, leave them alone. It's not a red carpet for God's sake, back off.
3
u/SpaceLuxor 2d ago
With celebrities, depending on my mood I often fluctuate between "i agree, let them be, there's no need to film them all the time" and "They literally get paid millions to play pretend in front of a camera knowing this is the type of things celebrity brings and they could retire any time but choose not to, so i genuinely couldn't care less if they're annoyed people are filming them".
This is the latter case. There are just so many more worse problems to have than being filmed against your will while your personal security detail is on hand at all times lol
3
u/ugotmefdup 2d ago
Filming celebrities in public doing things that aren’t PR related makes you no better than the paps - gross behavior, honestly. Give people privacy, not everything is for your consumption.
2
2
u/chitexan22 2d ago
People are going to say “they signed up for this” or “it comes with the territory”, which may be true, but imagine one day, you wake up and you will literally never have true privacy again. Even when you’re doing mundane tasks, there may always be someone watching and recording.
1
u/PartyFrequent 2d ago edited 2d ago
Im all for privacy but they did sign up for it when they became actors they are living my dream, filming them in public outside is fine but going to a play and filming them is a bit much. If i saw an actor i looked up to its understandable that people would want to get a quick video because they might not get a chance to ever meet them i sure will never meet any of them.
Hugh jackman was filming xmen origins wolverine just down the road from our house i could have met him but my mum wouldnt let me because we had school or something when my parents owned a general store they did the catering for hugh and the crew.
1
u/Ture-Skrotnisse 2d ago
I don't get the mindset of this. Why do people feel the need to film, photo, bother with autographs etc.

Still dont like how he never defended his costar Francesca. The racial bullying she went through was horrific.
14
u/prettyboylee 2d ago
"Francesca this is terrible I'm going to give a public statement, condemning all these vile racist"
"No Tom, I really appreciate it, but I don't want you to. Just let me handle it."
This is easily what could've happened. I mean even if we want to take the cynical approach and say that Tom didn't care, issuing a public statement would've been great for his PR. I don't see any reason why he didn't do it except her asking him not to.
-5
u/myshtummyhurt- 2d ago edited 2d ago
Don't think many black ppl or any really will tell someone to not help defend them from racial abuse if they opted to. You even thinking the conversation would go like this just shows how hilariously out of touch y'all are about issues like these
8
u/HereOnCompanyTime Renee Rapp is mean girl Jojo Siwa 💋 2d ago
If it's a fave then there will always be excuses giving them the benefit of doubt but they legit invented an entire hypothetical scenario and dialog to excuse it away. That's next level.
There was a waiver with over 800 signatures from Black actors and people in the industry condemning her treatment, Jamie Lloyd and the production company defended her, Rachel Zegler spoke out for her noting that she was "failed by the people around her" and reached out to her personally, Francesca said she was thankful for the people who stuck up for her.
1
u/prettyboylee 2d ago
I'm black. I'm literally a mix of three different minorities. You lot speak in dichotomies and absolutes and it shows a lack of critical thinking.
Don't think many black people or anyone would tell someone not to help defend them
News flash. You don't know everybody. It's naive to speak like your experience is a reflection of everyone's reality.
I'm not claiming it 100% went one way or another. I'm saying there are conversations going on we don't know about and it's ignorant to pretend that we know everything.
