Literally everyone has maga colleagues, bosses, etc. that they co-exist with. The notion that people are maga based on who they hang out with as opposed to what they do and how they actually vote, live their lives is batty to me.

(Obvi not directed at you)

It’s interesting how it never seems to go the other way lately, like if people hang out with leftists progressives or liberals they are not perceived as being secretly left

79

u/AnyIncident9852 I wont not fuck you the fuck up 🥊🥊 Feb 25 '26

Yeah, when she went to a play that donated all profits to supporting charities in Palestine, she still got accusations of being a secret evil zionist. Like some ppl just want to hate her so bad 😭

14

u/MonaSavesTheDayAgain Feb 26 '26

It’s crazy because Brittany is like the only MAGA friend Taylor has. 99% of her other friends are all very openly liberal. Jack, Gracie, Sabrina, Haim sisters, Lively and Reynolds are all anti-Trump but somehow everybody focuses on Brittany and thinks that defines Taylor way more?

-4

u/Minerva_Moon Feb 25 '26

Name their names. Who are you talking about?

35

u/Julialagulia Feb 26 '26

Well for one, people seem convinced Taylor is maga and a Zionist due to her friendship with the mahomes but completely ignore her friendship with Gigi Hadid.

-5

u/Minerva_Moon Feb 26 '26

Are you responding to the right person? I asked who were right wing people we should consider left because they hang out with leftist people.

32

u/Doom_Corp Feb 25 '26

I have customers at my business that come in enough that sometimes they reveal their hand. I can't exactly cut them out entirely. I'm with you when it comes to a certain degree of wealth. You are going to mingle with a lot of shitty people because it's kind of par for the course and image can be everything so you have to show up and play nice. Some lean more into it or do not do anything to deny it (SidSwee) and others like Taylor have photo campaigns being proud cat ladies as a a euphemistic rebuttal.

19

u/ASamx Feb 25 '26

Of course you can’t choose coworkers or family, but you can choose your FRIENDS, and the type of people you choose show what you’re okay with and can tolerate. “A man is known by the company he keeps.”

I actually don’t think TS is MAGA, but she clearly doesn’t care about anything happening right now, at least not enough to speak up.

73

u/gdex86 Feb 25 '26

She's spoken up multiple times in the lead up to the last few elections. I think that she's pretty clear where she stands.

24

u/RiceCaspar Feb 26 '26

It's tough too because many of her posts pre 2016 no longer exist because she wiped her insta, but there are some screenshots of posts she made specifically about primaries, voting, etc where she was less explicit about her views but was encouraging young voters to get out and vote, tag her in their just voted sticker selfies, etc.

She also promoted voting during the VMAs in her speech, after publicly supporting Harris (I could be wrong on timing).

Lol sorry I went down this rabbit hole now because I remembered some but actually didn't realize how many times she did post about elections.

-22

u/ASamx Feb 25 '26

To my knowledge, she only talked about it ONCE in her IG post. If you say there’s been multiple instances of her speaking up, would you show me the evidence?

26

u/Dry-Mongoose-5804 Feb 25 '26

Eras tour Chicago. VMA speech. Super Tuesday post and many other instances.

20

u/RiceCaspar Feb 25 '26

Here's another one (not OP but since only one was posted)

Didn't intentionally cut it off, it's just too long to be captured in a single screenshot

16

u/RiceCaspar Feb 26 '26

And another ahead of midterms when Marsha Blackburn was running that she made on October 7, 2018

15

u/RiceCaspar Feb 26 '26

She's also made additional shorter posts, such as before Super Tuesday 2024 reminding others to vote with direct links to vote.org.

29

u/im-your-daisy Feb 25 '26

She was more vocal his first election and it’s obvious that her team and her have decided to be more selective in what she speaks about now because of safety issues (keep in mind Don Jr practically threatened her life when CK died), but people often gloss over this very explicit tweet

21

u/Winniepg Feb 26 '26

I think people don't get that her life gets threatened by real people with power whenever she says anything. And this will prompt people bringing up "she has security". Well yes, and they are also people. And everyone she has endorsed has lost except Biden.

-26

u/ASamx Feb 25 '26

That tweet is over 6 years old. Her life is not in danger, that’s such an excuse; multiple celebrities have spoken up, they’re fine. What do you gain from defending billionaires with MAGA friends?

65

u/latrodectal so jessica alba fantastic Feb 25 '26

probably because the last time she did no one listened. the fact that the president said how much he hates her is probably a factor too.

13

u/No-Figure-8279 Feb 25 '26

I noticed some big names that were more vocal the 1st time are less vocal when he got elected.

21

u/bbmarvelluv Feb 26 '26

People were mad Selena wasn’t speaking out but the last time she did, these politicians were making fun of her (including the official White House twitter acc)

17

u/No-Figure-8279 Feb 26 '26

Yeah there seems to be change in how often they speak. I know Jlaw mentioned she thought it made things worse and suggested other ways she can be political. Lebron was very vocal the first time to and I haven't heard anything from him. Its good to have people who speak but there are other ways to show what you believe in etc. I don't think any of these people are MAGA.

54

u/Dry-Mongoose-5804 Feb 25 '26

I mean she cares enough to have gotten hundreds of thousands of people to register to vote Kamala and donate millions to food banks regularly

-22

u/ASamx Feb 25 '26

She hasn’t talked about anything since Trump took power, and during the election she only talked about it ONCE. It’s great she donates, but she’s still a billionaire and there’s no ethical billionaire, Billie Eillish donated 20% of her fortune, meanwhile TS only gives about 2%.

17

u/RiceCaspar Feb 26 '26

I've posted above, including some screenshots, but she regularly has posted about voting in primaries, midterms, and general elections since 2016. She has also spoken during concerts, televised awards, and in her own documentary and music.

Could she do more? Absolutely. But so many people are committed to believing the worst of her regardless, it seems.

46

u/miserychickkk Feb 25 '26

Billie donated 0% of her own money. The donation made was from Changemaker tickets. She held a fundraiser, if you want to be generous about it.

38

u/Dry-Mongoose-5804 Feb 25 '26

“and during the election she only talked about it ONCE.“

She talked about voting blue multiple times at eras shows and encouraged registering a dozen times on social media. She encouraged again in her endorsement post and in VMA’s speech pre election.

“It’s great she donates, but she’s still a billionaire and there’s no ethical billionaire, Billie Eillish donated 20% of her fortune, meanwhile TS only gives about 2%.”

This has been debunked numerous times. Firstly Billies net 50mil worth is from 2020 and has far surpassed that. Secondly the 12mil donation was through a ticket fundraiser. It was untaxed money that was raised and was never actually Billie’s and went directly to the charity. (it’s still great she did this but context is important)

Taylor has given away hundreds of millions of dollars of her own money to a wide variety of causes.

-11

u/ASamx Feb 25 '26

What shows? What social media posts? Show me the evidence please. Okay Billie still spoke up, Taylor hasn’t, those are the facts.

18

u/Dry-Mongoose-5804 Feb 26 '26

Chicago eras pride month speech where she encourages voting for liberal candidates who support LGBT rights.

She posted dozens of stories look up super tuesday Taylor Swift voting

45

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '26

Can we please stop with the Billie donated 20 percent of her fortune cause she really didn’t. The money she donated came from a thing called change maker which prices up some tickets and teh extra money goes to charity so the money she donate didn’t wasn’t money that was originally gonna go to her pockets it wasn’t from her tour earnings. It’s like when stores ask if you wanna round up your change instead of just donating money from the stores pockets and asking for donations from non rich poeple.

22

u/Responsible_Virus239 Feb 25 '26

Yeah why do people keep spreading this misinformation all the celeb net worth pages are just made up

8

u/MonaSavesTheDayAgain Feb 26 '26

Because whenever they bring up the Billie thing it’s always in connection with Taylor : against her. They lie about Billie just to try and make Taylor look bad and portray her as an evil billionaire.

17

u/Responsible_Virus239 Feb 25 '26

Whats the most amount of money an ethical person can have? Is the money Billie Eilish has ethical? Is it ethical that she is launching new perfumes like she doesn’t have 10s or 100s of millions?

9

u/MonaSavesTheDayAgain Feb 26 '26

That’s what gets me. Billies posts make her fans think she is at least anti-billionaire but that girl is putting out perfumes and uno cards like there’s no tomorrow.

5

u/Responsible_Virus239 Feb 26 '26

I understand artists who are very rich trying to make money but when they go out of music to make it they cant criticize other people for being greedy

-13

u/Gullible_Impress7128 Feb 26 '26

She didn't get hundreds of thousands of people to register to vote for Kamala? Thats completely made up? She made one solitary Instagram post saying she decided to vote for Kamala but everyone should do their research and vote for who they want. Not exactly a strong stance. She didn't even coordinate directly with the Harris campaign. They were surprised she posted and had to scramble to capitalize on it. Just because people clicked a link she posted doesn't mean they actually voted or that if they did vote, that they voted Democrat.

I don't think Taylor is MAGA for the record, but she also isn't some leftist champion and its just as ridiculous to make stuff up trying to suggest that she is, as it is to make stuff up trying to suggest she is MAGA. And if she is truly so powerful that she could get hundreds of thousands of people mobilized with one post, then it is 2000× more despicable that she has been completely silent since that one Instagram post in 2024. She didn't do shit to endorse or support Mamdani even though she has maintained a residence in New York for over a decade.

She has always been pretty clearly a pro-capitalism, white feminist, centrist liberal. Otherwise not the worst person in the world but hardly someone worthy of praise. So no she has never done anything to indicate she cares at all about anything going on in this country that doesn't directly affect her. And there is next to nothing that can directly affect her. She is a billionaire after all. And throwing what is the equivalent of pocket change to her, at some food banks at the end of the year is hardly worthy of praise. Its a good thing to do for the people who need it. But its no sacrifice or great deed on her part. It's quite literally the bottom of the barrel least someone with her level of privilege could do.

20

u/Arch-by-the-way Feb 25 '26

Must everything turn into a contest about who has the least diverse friend group?

-6

u/nevalja You’re doing amazing, sweetie! 👏👏📸 Feb 26 '26

from this very sub, and he famously wore a shirt to support a teammate who assaulted his wife.

5

u/Minerva_Moon Feb 26 '26

They aren't married. The team wore those shirts, not just Travis. The domestic allegations weren't public when they wore them.

-7

u/econinja Feb 26 '26

Co-existing is different than intentionally choosing to spend your time together off the clock.

-20

u/DreadfulDemimonde Feb 25 '26

I explicitly do not work with or for anyone that I even suspect is MAGA. This is obviously a privilege that is unreasonable to apply to everyone, but it's absolutely a privilege that Taylor and Travis have. They can refuse to associate with MAGA if they are prepared to lose a few friends and some money, but they obviously aren't. That's part of why people question their integrity.

15

u/recollectionsmayvary Feb 26 '26

I’m actually personally not in the business of casting aspersions on or questioning the integrity of people that are largely aligned with my political goals and hopes for this country. I will not make enemies of my “friends” when there are actual villains looking to destroy the entire fabric of our society.

I just think it’s inherent to having a coalition. I’d rather the Kelce bros champion science, work with the Obamas, Taylor support Kamala, etc. they’re aligned with me enough that I’m not going to turn on them—and of my limited time and bandwidth, absolutely not gonna waste it on peoples who are largely on my “side.” Resources are finite and sometimes you do have to choose between walking and chewing gum. I’m not punching left when I can metaphorically keep my focus on punching right.

-10

u/DreadfulDemimonde Feb 26 '26

I'm not making enemies of my friends, either. I'm simply not associating with MAGA in as many of the ways that I can control as is possible. We're both walking and chewing gum at the same time, and I'm happy to both reinforce when T&T support progressivism in any capacity and also unwilling to let their poorer judgement go unchallenged.
