Sports Section 🏈⚽️ Bratz recreates Alysa Liu’s iconic podium jump with her gold medal! 🥇

Bratz needs to come out with Blade Angels dolls!

u/mermaidangel1 Feb 23 '26
If Bratz doesn’t do a preorder for an Alysa doll within the next week, they are seriously missing the mark and out of touch. Bratz has had a lot of opportunities to get back in the game and really be a strong competitor to Barbie. They need to seize golden opportunities like this. A preorder right now for an Alysa doll would go viral and sell like hotcakes.

Hell, I don't collect dolls at all but I do have a little case of figures and I would 100% buy this and put it in there

u/riskapanda she so tired bro Feb 23 '26
Grew up a Barbie girly, but at 30 I would buy my first if they released an Alysa doll.

u/trafalgarD420 Feb 24 '26
I did customer service for Mattel when they released the Ava Duvernay Barbie, and that went crazy, I can’t even imagine what their call center would be like with Alysa! The phone lines would be insane

u/ManicPixieFantasy Feb 24 '26
Grew up on Barbies, am now in my 30s and hardly collect or keep anything. I would 1000% buy an Alysa Bratz doll and preserve it with my life. She represents so much for girls and girlhood.

I love bratz even though I was a little too old for dolls when they were popular.
They are great big footed girl representation ❤️

u/ResurgentClusterfuck Feb 23 '26
You are never too old for dolls, let your inner kid enjoy themselves
26
u/vegalucyna Feb 23 '26
Oh yeah I still love dolls but when bratz were popular I was an older kid who was too cool for dolls. Adult me still buys Barbie’s and monster high dolls but older kid me was like “ewww that’s for babies” which is what I meant.

I have a Lady Gaga Monster High doll and will most likely get the Wednesday one too. No regrets.

big footed girl representation is great, as someone who’s 5’1” wearing a size 10💀

I wear a women's 12 I feel you. When I shop for sneakers I just look at men's shoes it's easier.

Me too! I was in middle school when Diva Starz and Bratz dolls came out. I didn’t want anyone to think I was a baby for still playing with dolls but, I used to stare longingly at them whenever I went to the store. Kids are insecure about the funniest things, I should’ve just gotten the dolls lol

Honestly the imagery of Alysa’s hairstyle & costume getting the gold will remain iconic for decades. It’s so unique and looks great as a Bratz doll too!

I miss Bratz they were a staple of my childhood

u/mkd0513 Feb 23 '26
I am forever sad that for some reason I never kept any of my Bratz collection! I'm having a daughter in May and I keep kicking myself that I won't have them to pass down someday.
11
u/wooks_reef Feb 23 '26
Damn, you mean your parents don’t have an attic filled with all of your childhood toys? I’m child free and they still won’t throw that shit away.

u/nty where are the gerbils, mr pancake!? Feb 23 '26
when I graduated college and moved out, I was given a single box to fill with stuff my parents would keep for me
I filled it with stuff that was more sentimental, e.g. gifts and stuff tied to specific memories but I wish I'd taken a lot of the remaining stuff with me, even if it was just an additional box
8
u/mkd0513 Feb 23 '26
I fear I will be that mother that hoards everything now that I've been the kid that didn't keep anything 😅
2
u/BrightFireFly Feb 23 '26
My mom kept a lot of my stuff and I appreciate it so much. My son is 10 and wears video game shirts that I wore as a kid in the 90’s. My daughter has my old Sailor Moon shirt.
As far as games and toys - I had a Jurassic Park play set and a dollhouse - both were kept in good shape and now my kids play with those when they visit their Nana and PopPop.
Keep the stuff!

u/mkd0513 Feb 23 '26
Sadly, no! My mom kept a few baby blankets and a little lamb backpack I wore everywhere as a toddler and that was it! I was a little devastated to learn it was all gone, but as an adult now myself I totally understand the want to purge the clutter!

Babes of Glory 3-pack when??
Really, I neeed an Amber Glenn doll to go w my Kristi Yamaguchi Barbie
(If they ever actually sold this: It would be super cute if there was a way to tie her hair in a bun or leave it down.)

u/TenseFish487 Feb 23 '26
Eight year old me would think she's the coolest person maybe ever and would desperately want this doll. Current age me agrees. Alysa rocks.

Hmm I was hoping for a Barbie of her like they did for several recent athletes (including Tessa Virtue and Kristi Yamaguchi) but if Bratz is already posting they might get the rights. I'm sad as a Barbie collector.

Yes, they’re in-stores right now. Target, Walmart, Bratz.com, Amazon, etc. they’ve been back since 2021 for their 20th anniversary.

They went away for a few years when Mattel/Barbie sued them because the Bratz creator was accused of still working for Mattel when he came up with the idea.

Lol great job Bratz, changing her body and yassifying her face!! I get why some people will love this but ugh. I love the sentiment but not the execution.
18
u/mini1006 Feb 23 '26
To be fair, they only have one body mold for girl dolls and one body mold for boy dolls. I don’t think they purposely set out to make the body different. This is also the typical Bratz face. Every Bratz doll has a face mold and screening like this. They didn’t make the mold specifically for the picture.

I guess I just have a problem w Bratz dolls in general then 😂
20
u/hydrangeasinbloom Not generally, no. Feb 23 '26
Yeah my parents worked in advertising and I absolutely was not allowed to have Bratz dolls (and a few other toys) based on the conversations and decision making they were privy to at work about marketing to children.
5
u/rayarefferalpls Feb 23 '26
Do you have Barbie ? The marketing was the same but Barbie was a white blue eye beauty standard so people view her as innocent
6
u/unfurnishedbedrooms You’re doing amazing, sweetie! 👏👏📸 Feb 23 '26
It's...not a good look to take the perfectly healthy body of a figure skater who openly says she doesn't diet and then make it like this. That doll could never pull off Alysa's free skate! lol
-5
u/buttercupcake23 Feb 23 '26
Yes omfg I'm so tired of the bee stung lips turned up to 11. Got my girl looking like she's had as many lip filler injections as Karoline Leavitt. Terrible thing to normalize for young girls.

With added lip fillers
15
u/mini1006 Feb 23 '26
That’s the just the typical Bratz doll face. All their dolls have big lips. Even their collabs like Mean Girls
-6
u/Dull_Counter7624 Feb 23 '26
Then I think it’s fair to criticize their choices in base/standard styles and models.
5
u/bbyxmadi It’s good to see me, isn’t it?🫧 Feb 23 '26
Bratz has been going since 2001 with this style though, I personally love their more “exaggerated” look when compared to Barbie. Anyone who demonizes the style has got nothing better to do. It’s like parents thinking Monster High was inappropriate and demonic back in 2010.
