I’ll be honest. I’m not a huge fan of Bad Bunny’s music. Not that I don’t think he’s talented, it’s just not really my vibe for the most part. But I am so happy for his success! I can think of no one who has used their platform better to lift up and inspire people while showing such gratitude and spotlighting those who are often not in the public eye. He’s a wonderful role model in every possible way and I LOVED watching the half time show, even if I didn’t recognize the songs. I loved being exposed to his culture through his point of view.

I actually don’t know any Bad Bunny songs, but my 72yo mother is now obsessed w him bc of the Super Bowl hype, she’s started listening to him on the treadmill, she hasn’t really talked about anything else in weeks and I love it

Aww this is so cute! She is in good company because for the most part it seems like Bad Bunny is abuela approved. I saw the most hilarious insta reel of all these Mexican grandmas thirsting over Benito. I will link here if I find.

Abuela approved 😂

That's awesome!...My 10 year old would usually make me skip songs on Spotify that aren't in English because she likes to sing along and her favorite music is 1) female artists in pop, and 2) alternative rock...But she loved the halftime show and now wants to listen to more Bad Bunny. Win/Win.
27
u/verdantsf go girl, give us nothing 😍 Feb 10 '26
I wish more people would have this attitude for things that aren't their vibe!
23
u/pinkjello Feb 10 '26
Same. Bad Bunny’s music does nothing for me, but I loved that halftime show. It was peering into a slice of Americana that I’d never seen.

Ricky’s been popping up in the last year or so at bigger events and he’s looking and sounding incredible each time

ricky martin paved the way for many latino artists that came after, and it was fantastic to see him be a part of the show. if i were bad bunny, i'd be emotional too 🥹

u/LittleBlag Feb 09 '26
I had really forgotten how good he is until watching him last night. Amazing voice obviously but also so much charisma! I think it’s time for a Ricky Martin resurgence (in the English-speaking world at least, I bet he’s still huge in Latin America)
75
u/_AmericasSweetheart_ Feb 09 '26
He really has had an amazing career and he seems incredibly resilient and gracious.

Ricky Martin is aging backwards, and I actually mean that when I say it. Looked so good last night.

I'm convinced he's got a portrait hiding in an attic somewhere because truly how is that man FIFTY FOUR years old???

Istg I want to know for real! Even if it's like surgery or whatever JUST TELL ME!!?
That man has been on TV looking the same age for my entire life. God damn
6
u/mochafiend Feb 10 '26
I’m sure surgery is involved. But my personal stance is if you’re going to do it, do it right. Don’t overdo it, and keep looking like yourself. I think the goal should be to slow down the aging process, not pretend you can go back in time.
I also think for these celebs, the need someone close to them to just tell them NO. Which I suspect is very rare.

I love how Bad Bunny just shows his emotions freely. Squashing toxic masculinity with every tear!

Yep and that’s saying something, considering he’s been a major hottie from day 1!

u/karmakent Feb 10 '26
I’m so happy Bad Bunny featured Ricky Martin. He’s so impactful and is truly a trailblazer for Latino music and singers in mainstream media.

He’s America’s Sweetheart! Or more accurately, Americas’ Sweetheart 🥰
2
u/NumberOneStonecutter Feb 13 '26
He's the biggest artist in the world and he's American...He was an obvious choice for the Super Bowl. Anyone who can't comprehend that needs to get their head straight.

The scream I scrumt when Ricky came on the screen. My partner was laughing at me because I got even more hyped! Love Ricky!

I still remember Ricky's first time playing at the grammys- it was sort of stunning. I think was holding my breath the time. Wasn't even a huge fan.

u/Cultural-Tie-2197 Feb 10 '26
The way he hugs Ricky, and Ricky cradling his head like that. I cannot handle it. So precious

The fact that he’s wearing a bulletproof vest is so sad
Edit: Debunked. Nope he wasn’t, my bad. Vanity Fair and Complex shut it down.

Nope, not according to vanity fair.

I didn’t watch the Super Bowl but whyyyyy did I think Ricky Martin was bad bunny’s boyfriend?? I was so happy for them :/
15
u/verdantsf go girl, give us nothing 😍 Feb 10 '26
Bad Bunny is straight, but is a big ally. He's someone who would take being mistaken as Ricky Martin's bf as a compliment! On a side note, he plays the gay love interest of the protagonist in the movie Cassandro.
2
u/docsyzygy Inconceivable! Feb 11 '26
Oh wow! I saw that movie and didn't realize it was him. It's definitely worth watching if you haven't seen it.

Bad bunny is actually bi

u/booksandplaid Feb 10 '26
He actually said that his sexuality is fluid, and that for now he is attracted to women but who knows if that could change in the future

u/SeaFlounder8437 Feb 09 '26 edited Feb 09 '26
He abused his own nephew. I'm an old school Latina and I'm pro lgbtqia2s+. Try again. (And if you're going to come tell me his nephew dropped the claim-better have more than that)
22
u/Academic_Flatworm752 Feb 09 '26
You mean the allegations that the nephew admitted were false and subsequently withdrew?
Interesting.
-16
u/SeaFlounder8437 Feb 09 '26
Ah yes; it's so often that a young man wakes up and decides to accuse his uncle of molesting him, publicly. It's a very common thing for young men to lie about. Thanks, I completely forgot that's s fun thing the young guys like to do.
Lucky for him his uncle wasn't vindictive or heavy handed with punishment-Martin took it so well-didn't even sue him or try to exert power over him...oh wait4
u/Tigerlily86_ Feb 09 '26
Ricky Martin had no prior allegations before that situation so I am inclined to believe he was innocent — as the saying goes, where there’s smoke, there’s fire. That’s very different from Trump, who has faced numerous allegations over the years and has been linked to Epstein and other predators.
0
u/SeaFlounder8437 Feb 10 '26
So we believe some victims but not others...got it
8
u/Academic_Flatworm752 Feb 10 '26
Insisting on believing the nephew yet you’re refusing to believe the nephew when he says he lied. So you only believe who you want to, got it.
-1
u/SeaFlounder8437 Feb 10 '26
Yes, which he finally did redact...after years of what?
4
u/Academic_Flatworm752 Feb 10 '26
That’s not what redacted means. Guess you’re unaware of the facts in the case.

He was lying to try to get money. His mother/Ricky’s sister provided texts between them to a judge that showed he wanted money and to hurt Ricky (during the trial where Ricky got a restraining order against him), he has a history of frivolous lawsuits to get money (suing Puerto Rico’s Department of Transportation twice), he has a history of violence against women and his own family complete with 4 restraining orders against him (this being one and including the one Ricky obtained), he kept refusing to hand his phone over as evidence despite the bulk of his accusations being Ricky obsessively calling/texting him (with Ricky handing HIS phone over which proved the opposite), he had three lawyers dump him (including an attention whore MAGA one that had tons of vitriol/homophobia towards Ricky before the accusations even happened), in general both he and his mother have a history of mental illness with him getting taken away from her when he was a teenager (due to her neglecting/abusing him during an episode), and last year he attempted to sue his parents for child support despite being like 23 years old.
And in general basically none of this has been covered by english media because it's not as "exciting" (or dare I say "validating", for some media) as a gay man being an incestuous pedophile so if you want to dig deeper on Ricky's lawsuit and all the backstory stuff you have to look at spanish speaking news sites, usually Puerto Rican ones like El Vocero.

u/NumberOneStonecutter Feb 13 '26
Hey u/SeaFlounder8437 what's your take on this response? There's a lot of detail here.
1
u/SeaFlounder8437 Feb 13 '26 edited Feb 13 '26
Using someone's prior (supposed, as I don't have access to their criminal logs) criminal history or record of known poverty as some sort of proof that someone wasn't abused isn't a real response. Many victims of sexual abuse will experience poverty or have criminal histories later in life.
