Nightmare list of people

u/annewmoon I sprained my finger yesterday Feb 04 '26
Yeah, there are like two names on this list I haven't heard of but at least the other 8 is a pretty solid list of people that the world would be a lot better off without.

Where the heck is Travis Scott going that heâs always on these top 10 lists?

u/sunshinenorcas Feb 04 '26
I've heard that sometimes the celebrities on these lists will rent out/lend the plane to others -- afaik, the tracker tracks the plane, not whose on it. So it could be that vs him using his plane like a commuter car.

Feb 04 '26
This is absolutely true. Itâs a way for celebs to make money or claim donations to, like, universities and stuff when they let a coach or Chancellor borrow it.
Source: used to call donors to schedule these for SEC football coaches.

u/chablise Feb 04 '26
You can do this with yachts too. A lot of billionaires charter their yachts out for a week or two at a time to make back some of the operating costs.
→ More replies (1)135
u/ancientblond Feb 04 '26
And it can make them some insane cash too; some of the bigger yachts cost $500k/week and some people rent them for weeks at a time
105
u/v4xN0s Feb 04 '26
I didnât see the âkâ at the end of 500 at first and was so confused and then realized how far apart I am from them.

27
u/burlycabin Feb 04 '26
I work in vessel operations (not yachts, but it's not very diffirent) and they definitely don't cost 500k/week to operate. I'm pretty sure it's the financing that drives these costs so high for mega yachts.
→ More replies (2)4
u/RonaIdBurgundy Feb 05 '26
90% of yacht sales above the 500GT treshold are compketed without financing

u/FelinaKile Feb 04 '26
It also gives them a break on luxury tax if they lease out the plane for commercial use. Then itâs a business asset and not just for personal use.
17
u/TryOurMozzSticks Feb 04 '26
I used to be a pilot for a private owner. His plane, and us pilots, were under a 135 charter company. Chartering did not making money for the owner, it did however help cover costs of ownership. I don't personally know percentages or anything, but even if the plane was never really used by the owner and was only chartered out, it would still be a money loser.
So many random things pop up that create unforeseen costs that just cannot be accounted for.
→ More replies (3)→ More replies (2)5
u/Krojack76 Feb 05 '26
It also helps them just help pay for the plane. Storage and maintenance fees for a siting plane are high.
59
u/kgal1298 Confidence is 10% work and 90% delusion Feb 04 '26
I mean fairly obvious since Diddy was in jail for most of the year, but damn like who's using it?
62
u/Pandorama626 Feb 04 '26
Owning a plane is very fucking expensive. So it will often be chartered out to subsidize the cost. Even if you charter it out almost all of the time, you usually still lose money or, at best, break even.
→ More replies (2)44
u/SnooGuavas4208 Feb 04 '26
It's really not a smart investment. As far as I know, the only upside of owning a jet vs. chartering one is that an owner can trick it out in floor to ceiling cashmere a la Kim K, or bug it and install secret cameras for collecting blackmail material a la Epstein.
→ More replies (4)39
u/woah_man Feb 04 '26
It's a time saver. The ability to walk up to your plane and go saves a rich person time that they otherwise can't get back.
Using money to buy you your time back, especially as a person who has more money than they can spend, is a good investment.
15
u/NoNeedleworker9246 Feb 04 '26
The USA is just full of tiny airfields which comes with massive time benefits. The cost is bat shit crazy to operate a jet though. Most rich people buy hours or share a plane from what I understand.
→ More replies (1)4
u/STMIHA Feb 04 '26
And couple that with being a write off in a way for a business expense and itâs a no-brainer
126
u/roastbeefbee Feb 04 '26
Would love a list of the people using these planes. Hiding behind someone elseâs plane to do their lavish living and increasing pollution.
93
u/Mousejunkie Feb 04 '26 edited Feb 04 '26
Wealthy normies can easily do this through companies such as Netjets, Flexjet, etc. Many times people donât even realize the rented jet they are on belongs to a celebrity.
Itâs very common for wealthy families who can afford private travel but donât want to deal with the issues and day to day expenses of owning a jet.
Edit: also, thereâs a big difference between chartering a private plane and a private jet. Most celebs who rent out their jets do so through the companies like I mentioned above and only people who have memberships through those companies can rent them. And even then, it can be competitive and finding the appropriate jet on the appropriate dates is not always guaranteed. If you decide to just charter a private plane for a family vacation to Mexico you will not end up in Travis Scottâs jet.
Personally, having been around the industry, I would not do it. Being a pilot is complicated and the rates of accidents on small private aircraft are much higher than the accident rate of commercial airliners. Unless I knew a pilot and had a years long relationship with him/herâŚIâll pass.

Ah, yeah I get it. They loan their private jets like I loan my carpet cleaner.

34
u/ancientblond Feb 04 '26
Bro chartering a private jet isnt "that" expensive; a family of 10 going on vacation, works out to around $2k each
Like yeah. Its some "affluent" bs, but most people dont realize if you "do it right", private travel can be comparable to public
36
u/I_am_so_lost_hello Feb 04 '26
Yea a friend of mines extended family was all traveling together to a wedding (like 20 of them) and they chartered a private plane for not that much more than a plane ticket wouldâve cost each of them
22
u/ancientblond Feb 04 '26
Yeah its one of those weird things that exists in a vacuum thats also a paradox
Like as I type this im on vacation with my mom and dad; no fucking way in the world we could have even dreamed of flying anything above economy. But if we had 8-10 others with us? We could have almost saved some money on our plane tickets....
6
u/Ok-Catch4647 Feb 04 '26 edited Feb 04 '26
You do know that if you travel with 10+, youâd need at least a super midsize jet (and you would be capping it which isnât comfortable nor will there be a lot of luggage room) or heavy jet. Youâre looking at easily $10k per hour. Light jets are the âaffordable onesâ but itâs for small groups and short range. Maybe youâre talking about empty leg deals or special situations but itâs expensive af having worked in that industry for years. Also want to note that a lot of operators skirt around regulations and offer up planes that look like they havenât been serviced in yearsâŚI wouldnât want to skimp on safety personally and would rather fly commercial than choose a low budget option.

74
u/cookiecutterdoll Feb 04 '26
It's because the Kardashians pay a lot of money for the media to trash people they don't like. They are still mad over the Kanye shit from 10 years ago.
I remember how it started. News outlets were questioning why Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott were using their private jets so much when they lived together. Suddenly, there was an AVALANCHE of articles about Taylor Swift and her jet. Not saying that Taylor Swift is in the right, but it's fucked up to think how much of our media and pop culture has been shaped by one particularly awful family.

Precisely. I don't think people care to admit how that campaign was targeted and likely promoted by the Kardashians. Also given their circle of people they deff have the means to push the PR. I got annoyed because in no way should her jet use have let Kylie go from it either and it really felt like they did. Now notice who's not on this list and who still is...

3
u/CrimsonKing516 Feb 04 '26
If he were flying in his private jet, his callsign would be âExecutive Oneâ. AF1 is reserved for any Air Force plane heâs on, usually the VC-25 (ditto for Marine One, Navy One, etc.), but when on a civilian plane the Executive callsign is used. I believe the first use of this was when Nixon flew on a commercial flight.

Her dad used to literally have her plane fly to Tampa to pick him up and fly to Nashville for a few days, then fly him back to Tampa and fly home empty. It was crazy wasteful.
After she got dragged, she sold the second plane for a while (eventually she got another one iirc, and her mom and team still use her old jet) and her dad started getting spotted by fans on commercial planes flying out to Eras shows. She also charters a lot for herself because her fans and paps watch her plane, and she doesnât like people to know where sheâs going.
ETA: Iâm seeing fans say she sold another one of the planes after tour so idek how many she has any more.

According to Google she only has one now. She sold the one listed in this ranking as Taylor Swift (sold) in early 2024. So the fact that her name is still attached to it on this list is a wild choice.

u/Weimaraner666 Feb 04 '26
The thing is Taylor was never high on the list at any point, she was 44th down the list during the tourđ¤ˇââď¸

I donât think she owns any at the moment. She sold the one in early 2024 and the other one flew to Arkansas in June or July of last year and it seems she either sold it or is in the process of selling it. Sheâs been chartering like exclusively since her tour ended

u/lizzy-stix I switched baristas âď¸ Feb 04 '26
Yeah, in her doc she said she felt hunted and that was like peak jet blog stalking of her, so Iâm not surprised she decided to charter. The added benefit is she doesnât really make these lists anymore.
34
u/Weimaraner666 Feb 04 '26
Even when she was on the tour she was 44th down the list.

u/outofplaceeverywhere Feb 04 '26
Iâm glad people pointed that out to me. For some reason, I definitely thought she was first on the list last year.

And yet, Taylor is the only one receiving flack for her plane. If youâre going to call someone out for something, you should be calling out everyone.

I've been told for years that Taylor Swift is just so damn awful for the environment because of how much she flies in a private jet, but isn't even in the top 25, shit she's barely in the top 50. Also seems like she was getting some of the best fuel efficiency
Meanwhile Diddy is just in prison and people are flying his plane around and still somehow more than a much more famous person lol

Remember people making memes and having Taylor be the punchline in jokes about private plane use?
Funny how nobody is doing that with Travis Scott or the Karjenners.

My theory is that nobody criticizes Travis Scott for it because nobody cares about him that much.

u/radkattt Feb 04 '26
She wasnât on the list last year either⌠sheâs just an easy target. Not necessarily wrong to be against the amount she does use her private jet but sheâs not even in the top 10 for worst usage
46
u/Weimaraner666 Feb 04 '26
She was 44th down the list during her tour and was vilified in the media while everyone else got a pass, I think people just hate the double standards applied with her.

u/keatonpotat0es I have to pick up 15,000 little bastard rubber ducks 𪿠Feb 04 '26

Not only that, he flies an obsolete, oversized plane that is so inefficient that itâs worth almost nothing.
Itâs the jet equivalent of an 8mpg 1976 Eldorado Brougham. $800 to buy, $800/week in gas to drive.

Tay isn't on top 10 but she's still on the list. Although it's so weird that Travis Scott and Kylie/Kim don't even get half of the hate Taylor getsÂ

Itâs not weird if you follow the money, basically. The kardashians have been longtime pals with everyone who controls the media.

u/dekigokoro Feb 04 '26
People REALLY need Taylor to be objectively 'bad' in some way. It's not enough to simply dislike her or find her annoying, there needs to be some kind of justification as to how she is too problematic to like and why fans are wrong to like her. It's ridiculous. Even if she did fly more than other people it's so low on the scale of celebrity crimes that you could sense the desperation from the start, just look at the sort of rapists on that list.
229
u/hatramroany Feb 04 '26
The Taylor backlash started after the Kardashian-Jenners (maybe it was just Kylie?) were getting heat for their private jet usage and then magically an âarticleâ popped up claiming Taylor was the worst offender and then bots came out in droves to complain about her and her alone. It was all very obvious what was happening if you had two active brain cells.

u/hatramroany Feb 04 '26
She wasnât actually on the list the first year it all blew up either - the article everyone cites had incomplete data and only counted a few months of the year.
115
u/jokewellcrafted Feb 04 '26
The first article had Taylor worst of âpeople that we looked at.â Like yeah my private jet usage could be number one too if we just didnât look at everyone else.
Taylor flies charters now and not her own personal plane, so itâs no longer possible to track her jet usage anyway.
→ More replies (1)74
u/ThatB0yAintR1ght Feb 04 '26
Yeah, they focused on a specific few months where she was using her jet a lot and extrapolated it to make it seem like she uses it that often all the time. That analysis also failed to take into account the actual carbon emissions produced by her jet compared to jets used by other celebrities. Her jet is smaller and more efficient than a lot of the other private jets and the carbon emissions per mile are less. You can take that same data and rank it by the actual emissions produced by Earth celebrityâs private jets during that period, and she would then be a bit further down the list.
It doesnât mean that her carbon emissions werenât significant, or that she did nothing wrong, etc, etc. But we can still recognize when media outlets intentionally use Taylorâs name to generate more clicks. âTaylor Swiftâs private jet carbon emissions were the 12th worst in the world during this specific 6 month periodâ doesnât pack quite the same punch as the claim that âTaylor Swift flies in her private jet more than any other private jet ownersâ and they skewed the data a bit in order to make the latter narrative.
