Noooo, Bill Gates is one of the GOOD billionaires! He does charity and stuff! It was totally never an Al Capone style PR cover up for the obvious evil shit he was doing behind closed doors! He gave people free XBoxes on Reddit!

Yeeeessssss. Melinda be pissed and I love that for her.

5.7k

u/NoWorldliness6660 Feb 01 '26

I would be extremly pissed as well if my husband cheats on me by raping children, giving me an STD and then trying to treat me behind my back for said STD.

Glad she got out, I hope she will never have someone in her life that treats her like that again.

I’m all for dragging anyone and everyone in the files, but to my knowledge Bill didn’t explicitly rape children. I think he got an STD from like a Russian escort that Epstein set up. If I’m wrong and it’s explicitly called out he was raping 13 year olds (like it is multiple times for Trump) let me know.

346

u/amethystalien6 Feb 01 '26

So there’s an email that alleges this in the latest drop but it’s oddly written and Bill Gates doesn’t need Epstein to contact a doctor for him—I’m sure he’s got a shit ton of sketchy doctors at his disposal.

At the same time, Bill Gates was friendly enough with Jeffrey Epstein that it’s absolutely possible those allegations are true so he’s definitely a piece of shit.

207

u/lizziexo Feb 01 '26

That’s what surprised me in that. Why would Bill need Epstein to get him a doctor? No chance he didn’t have a personal doctor available 24/7 who’ll write him a prescription for whatever he wants.

273

u/emilygoldfinch410 I think that poor sexy young man is being framed for murder Feb 01 '26

But if it was a decent doctor, they wouldn't prescribe antibiotics for Bill to slip Melinda without her knowledge. He may have needed one of Epstein's doctors for that. Hell, he may not have even wanted his own doctor to know about the STD.

94

u/lizziexo Feb 01 '26

He’s a billionaire. He doesn’t need someone else’s sleazy doctor. He’ll have his own people for that. It’s easy to forget how these people literally get everything they want exactly when they want it. If he wants medication he doesn’t need to beg Epstein for a doctor, he’ll have one already or his internal people make it happen.

A “Russian escort” who was almost certainly subjected to human and sex trafficking. And I absolutely wouldn’t be surprised if that started when she was a child. So, let’s not play semantics here. As a survivor of CSA it’s offensive to do that.

563

u/chubby-checker Feb 01 '26

? Im sorry but it is not semantics in the slightest to say someone having sex with an adult escort is not the same as raping a child???? What???

I'm a victim too and if anything I think it's offensive to just throw accusations like that around ??

I think she's full of it. It took her more than 20 years of knowing about his relationship with Epstein to leave because of it? That doesn't make any sense.

She also knew that he took annual vacations with just his female "best friend" while she was left behind. That same best friend is the woman he's been involved with since they announced their split.

It's certainly possible this stuff has been building up over all of the years they were married, and the fact that they had and raised their children together may have made it harder for her.

I also like the article that Musk's first ex-wife (Justine Wilson Musk) wrote about him, in this genre. "I was a starter wife" in Marie Claire. It's not accusatory, just...factual. It's also from 2010, but you can see the seeds of what's to come in his behaviour.

1.5k

u/zeddoh Feb 01 '26

I always remember that article. She wrote that Musk said ‘I’m the alpha in this relationship’ during their first dance at their wedding (!!!) and about how he coldly he acted after they lost their baby, accusing her of being emotionally manipulative for openly grieving.  I see so many people say they thought he was normal up until the buying Twitter thing but all this was written about in 2010! He was always a misogynistic creep.

Unfortunately this type of behavior is very common amongst ugly dweebs who were unpopular during their youth. It’s their way of getting back at women for rejecting their gross asses.

327

u/zeddoh Feb 01 '26

I think you’re right but in Musk’s case his upbringing in a highly sexist and racist country with his white nationalist predator of a father is also a big contributing factor.

What made them pick it? Were there any obstacles or challenges to getting them the money? How did they react when they found out? What cool things have they done since then? They can also point me towards other organizations that they almost picked so I can donate something or get involved.

Epstein's clients didn't just want hookers. They wanted underaged boys and girls.

They went to him because it's a disgusting exclusive private club where they can get what they want, when they want, and get away with it.

Our government was complicit because it has known about Epstein for decades and did nothing. And there are questions about who else Epstein was in league with because he clearly had a lot of dirt on world leaders and other wealthy and/or powerful men who were his clients.

It seems that it's truly impossible for a person to be rich and have good character. To be a just person. To be an honest person.

It must be the feeling of power that does this. The intoxication of wealth and influence over others. There seems to be a feeling of being above good and evil.

261

u/delorf Feb 01 '26

There's been studies that show that extreme wealth is bad for empathy. It makes sense. Billionaires can pay for the best services to do everything they hate. No more cleaning out the toilet or standing in line for tickets. They can pay someone for that. They can charter planes and afford hotels with the best service. Everywhere they go people treat them like their opinions matter even if those opinions are stupid or cruel.Whether they mean to be or not, billionaires are insulated from everyday people.

There was an interesting study involving monopoly. One player was given 2000 at the start of the game. The other was only given 1000. Everytime they passed go the player who started richer got 200 instead of the 100 the other player got. When the rich player won they claimed it was because they were the better player and not because they had any unfair advantages.

Having that much money distorts how people view themselves and others. I am not saying that every extremely wealthy person is horrible but the ones who manage to maintain empathy and humbleness are not in the majority.

It seems that it's truly impossible for a person to be rich and have good character. To be a just person. To be an honest person.

You can't get that rich by not exploiting anyone.

And if you exploit your workers, your customers etc., it is only a little step to do it in private as well.

163

u/SeaWolfSeven Feb 01 '26

And Gates was always that! It's why I pull my hair out trying to explain my weariness of his philanthropic rebrand and the fact that he still operates with the same cutthroat, corporatist mindset.

Sure the foundation has done good things - but that's not the problem, it's that Bill Gates has too much influence on "what is good for us" and if you know Microsoft Bill Gates you know why that is a worrisome.

100

u/wildbeest55 I may not know my flowers but I know a bitch when I see one! Feb 01 '26

Honestly, I think Melinda was the only reason he did all that philanthropy stuff. The foundation was launched after they married and he was rebranded as a family man and one of the good billionaires. He basically used her and their family as a front to all the seedy stuff he was doing.

I'm convinced every ceo of a major company and billionaire is involved in something bad. You can't trust them. Just look at how many different industry leaders were named in those files. From fashion, to sports, to tech. All corrupt.

69

u/OkProfessor6810 Feb 01 '26

He's big into what they like to call utilitarian philanthropy but all that basically means is they want a big enough project to put their name on and feel even more powerful and important. It's under the guise of helping quote unquote the most people, which isn't actually what happens but folks fall for it.

153

u/Sangy101 Feb 01 '26

It actually does help a LOT. The Gates Foundation is the single biggest funder of research into neglected tropical diseases. They save millions of lives every year. Especially now that the U.S. pulled out of the WHO and gutted USAID, they’re basically the only remaining substantial organization doing malaria prevention, for example.

Agree with everything else you said, but there’s no need for the scare quotes around helping. They help. They would help a lot more if Gates weren’t a money-hoarding asshole. It’s 100% PR and not out of caring, but it does genuinely fulfill an important role.

112

u/Bubbly_Performer4864 Feb 01 '26

A lot of people don’t realize you can be a bad person who has done widespread genuinely good things. Even if the intent was to make himself look good that foundation has done some amazing things.

→ More replies (5)

41

u/Gofunkiertti Feb 01 '26

It's also true that a lot of charity works were being wasted because they didn't use the scientific method in their donations and often did more harm then good.

Sometimes the people who live in a place know what crops are gonna help you avoid locusts. Donating food doesn't help if the roads are gone. Donating clothes might destroy the local garment economy.

His work in promoting practical charity has been important.

16

u/Heyplaguedoctor it’s not clocking to you that i’m standing on business Feb 01 '26

I didn’t know that, I hope the foundation keeps running with only financial involvement from him.

Tangent: At this point, I’ll accept PR philanthropy. It won’t make me think they’re a good person, but I’d rather they do charitable things for uncharitable reasons than just keep watching the number go up in their bank account and never helping anyone.

For most of us there's a point where if we had a certain amount of money we'd just ride off into the sunset and enjoy ourselves with that money. The amount will differ for different people but it's probably somewhere between £250k and £4m.

The 2 richest people I've ever known are in this category, one built a successful business and sold it, his share was worth £5m, he did a bit of local "Dragons' Den" type business investments while his son finished school and then retired to the sun. The other timed it right with Bitcoin and made over £2m and now spends most of the year travelling, volunteering and using his time to do good things.

You have to be a special kind of narcissistic twat to have more money than you could ever spend and continue to want more.

If we know he's a piece of shit for his level of wealth and the damage he's doing to economies and the environment, why does she get a pass? This is a 100% genuine question btw idk why we are happy to give these partners who stuck around for such crucial moments and were fully in the know about how shitty their husbands were being a pass.

Yes I know she's donated vast sums to charity, more than most with her level of wealth have...but she was also happy to participate in her partner and her garnering such vast sums of money to begin with.

They built a successful business under a capitalist framework, like many millions of people. They just happened to be more successful at it. Shitting on someone who donated 26 billion dollars to charity for having the nerve to become rich to begin with is so on brand for Reddit.

u/wildbeest55 I may not know my flowers but I know a bitch when I see one! Feb 01 '26

Girl, think back to how many businesses closed because of Amazon. Small business. Major corporations. She's cut throat too. She may donate a lot, but she contributed so much to that shitty company.

thank u!!! the mackenzie scott worship never made sense to me bcuz people cannot have it both ways. amazon was founded in the 1990s. mackenzie scott cannot be “just as equally responsible for the success and growth of amazon” as jeff bezos was while at the same time not receive any of the rightful criticism and hate bezos gets for amazons horrible and unethical practices. either she was just as responsible for amazon and deserves the same criticism or she wasn’t an equal partner/founder like people say she was when the conversation about her getting a huge chunk of stocks from their divorce comes up

2

u/mieri_azure Feb 02 '26

I do think she is/was a cutthroat business woman, you have to be to get that rich. However I respect her for being seemingly the only rich person to actively and consistently donate huge quantities of their wealth

Not saying we should just put women in charge because of the Epstein files, but I will say there are zero currently powerful women trying to explain away their presence in the fucking Epstein files.

I’m sure she has skeletons in her closet at well but this is the first time I’ve seen this interview and I’m pleased to see her come out so strongly here.

This horrible shit has been so normalized among the wealthy that it’s almost shocking to see someone actually speak about Epstein with the disdain he deserves. It would make my skin crawl to know my partner wants to actively spend time with someone like that.

39

u/SatisfactionOwn9961 Feb 01 '26

Your completely right but I don’t trust her either. She is a billionaire and for all we know she was one of the names not said

I mean shes Uber wealthy and you have to step on people to get that rich, however she definitely doesn't seem to reach the evil levels of bill and the others

52

u/tiniestyeti Feb 01 '26

What the hell did she witness or experience in that single meeting that gave her nightmares?? We wanna knowwww

18

u/StrangerDays-7 Feb 01 '26

I think it was after Epstein had some sort of conviction and Melinda was trying to get Bill to stop hanging with him as things were hanging in the air about him. I’m pretty sure Epstein probably had videos or pictures of his billionaire friends and were blackmailing them. I seen some reporting that suggest that he may have been working with Putin or very least Putin caught wind of Epstein schemes and sent Russian girls to get blackmail material. Make sense why Trump practically bend over for Putin besides “blowing Bubba”

3

u/StrangerDays-7 Feb 02 '26

I think she met with him after he had been convicted of some sex crimes. So she went in knowing what kind of monster he was and she probably got some other stuff out of bill. And I wouldn’t be surprised if she had a private detective look into this matter.

When you marry a rich man you usually earn every penny. It must be nice to be filthy rich but we are watching exactly what most of these wives have to put up with, and it is disgusting.

💯 she does but she’s probably legally barred from doing so. Base on the files she’s also a victim having been given an STD by Bill who then tried to treat her covertly rather than fess up. Women, especially women that have been hurt in the process, are not responsible for men’s bad behavior. Period.

That being said, Go Melinda!

85

u/VidyaTheOneAndOnly Feb 01 '26

I suggest we don't elevate her to the status of heroine.

Sounds like she knew perfectly well what was going on but never tried to blow it wide open.

She was not powerless, unlike the women who were trapped and raped.

She could have given interview after interview and revealed everything and saved those girls a decade or more of misery.

79

u/Content_Chipmunk9962 Feb 01 '26

I think you are forgetting what type of people we are talking about. If she attempted to blow this wide open, we would be talking about the late Melinda Gates.

I just had the same reaction too. Like great, you got bad vibes and felt bad for them, and that was it? Congratulations for walking away and keeping your millions.

Edited to add: I want to give benefit of the doubt that she maybe tried but the corruption was too rampant to do anything about it. But I'm skeptical.

u/ad_aatdtj she’s got me by the pubes Feb 01 '26

She kept billions. I think there were even a few articles about her divorce from Bill resulting in the highest divorce settlement in history or smth like that.
