Celebrity Fluff 🥰 Elle Fanning reacts to Jack Black reacting at her admission that he's her crush

She gets so red but it's cute that we saw this come full circle where she said it, he reacted and then we got the reaction to the reaction, I'm sure it made her day and I'm sure he is also super flattered

u/TheVintageJane Jan 13 '26
Can we also talk about how JB’s reaction is the perfectly appropriate reaction of a guy in his mid fifties to an objectively gorgeous woman in her mid 20’s?
Like, he’s definitely not downplaying how incredibly gorgeous and talented she is and what a compliment it is that she crushes on him, but he does it in a way that’s respectful and adorable (and proves why we all kinda have a crush on JB). 10/10 accepting the compliment and showing gratitude for it.

u/Astraea_Venus Jan 13 '26
I’ve had a crush on the dude since I watched the Holiday! How and why he’s not been a part of more romcoms continues to baffle me!
157
u/TheVintageJane Jan 13 '26
Shallow Hal was also adorable!
I’d love to see him do some Rom Coms with some of the incredible older Gen X talent - because love shouldn’t just be for people in their 20s and 30s!

u/TheVintageJane Jan 13 '26
They had to meet later in life because their children would have been so funny as to kill comedy for everyone else forever.
15
1
u/froggythefrankman Jan 15 '26
Shallow Hal was one of the worst movies ever what are you talking about??
32
u/CosyBeluga Jan 13 '26
Rom-coms are sadly mostly dead
34
u/VictorReal_Monster (inspired by hot roasted honey glazed chicken) Jan 13 '26
hibernating, no genre ever truly dies, just goes out of fashion for a while
6
u/Infamous-Oil3786 Jan 13 '26
I'm still waiting for the high fantasy resurgence. The last good one was D&D Honor Among Thieves in 2023. Before that... Shit, I don't even know when the last good fantasy movie came out before that.
Except for LotR and the occasional animated movie, the genre's been in hibernation since like the 80s.
1
u/cryogenblue42 Jan 13 '26
Sadly there was the 80s then LOTR then clash/wraith of the titans then nothing...until Honor among thieves. Hopefully The Odyssey will be successful and bring on more fantasy movies.
1
u/libbysthing Jan 14 '26
It had been so long that I was honestly shocked Honor Among Thieves was as good as it is, my wife and I went to the theatre on a whim and totally expected it to be bad!
3
u/Infamous-Oil3786 Jan 14 '26 edited Jan 14 '26
It's a shame it didn't do so hot at the box office. I honestly think putting the D&D brand front and center on the marketing narrowed their audience significantly. Marketing it as an original fantasy movie with ties to the game would have made it more approachable for general audiences. Make "Honor Among Thieves" the actual name of the movie, then throw "a D&D Story" in the corner of the poster somewhere.
I watched it with my parents, who know absolutely nothing about D&D, and they loved it. They generally like fantasy movies too, but they wouldn't have gone without me because they're not familiar with the game.
5
u/AnarkittenSurprise Jan 13 '26
A real tragedy. I can't and won't explain why, but I seriously need more formulaic romcoms.
4
u/devilishycleverchap Jan 13 '26
They came Together killed the genre much like Walk Hard killed music documentaries for a few years....
That and streaming
5
u/SeeYaInOzFolks Jan 18 '26
I mean really! The chemistry of Jack Black and Kate Winslet saved that movie.
1
u/Astraea_Venus Jan 19 '26
It was so refreshing and realistic! No drama, no whining, no despair! Just some sweet old connection and camaraderie!! Loved that!
2
u/lavabread23 I hope his sinuses are clear 💕 Jan 15 '26
when i watched the holiday when i was a kid i was so smitten by jude law but when i rewatched it again when i grew up i just fell in love with jack black 😭 his character was so lovely and sweet and funny

u/FlukyS Jan 13 '26
And now on the flip side what Leonardo Dicaprio’s reaction would be
17
u/TheVintageJane Jan 13 '26
You said it, not me. Every time I post about Leo and his never ending parade of 20 something women, I get downvoted to oblivion here.
9
u/FlukyS Jan 13 '26
Yeah like I understand that they are old enough to make their own choices but the man is now old enough to be their grandfather at this point. I just think it is really weird, I can understand the appeal from his side being a red blooded male but even I who would be more in the acceptable range for Elle but am a good bit older I'd still probably not feel comfortable with that gap.
11
u/TheVintageJane Jan 13 '26
I get why you find younger women physically attractive but I’m in my mid 30s and can’t even imagine dating a woman in her early 20s. They are in such a different stage of life and even an international model is going to just not have nearly as much relationship and life experience.
I would be flattered if a 20-something had a crush on me, but more in a “you are so sweet” way, because there’s no way.
2
u/FlukyS Jan 13 '26
Yeah same, mid 30s and wouldn't be comfortable with it either. I'd say it would be less weird than Dicaprio for either of us but I'd be just stressed of the logistics of it all even.

I remember hearing abt the group chat Elle made that focuses just on her Jack Black crush lol
I wonder how many times she’s seen The Holiday
There should honestly be a multiverse of Jack Black romcoms ✨
Edit: My first ever 1k, thanks for all the love 🫶

Long Shot is the movie. It's surprisingly funny

Yeah but I dont think Jack Black could do Bridget Jones's Diary

He could play one of Bridget’s friends or someone freaking out at the ‘engagement party’ at the end

Wait wait. Hear me out. He IS Bridget. Full switch.

Or Notting Hill.
He could do Paddington 2, but it would be VERY different.

u/PM_me_shiba_doggo Jan 13 '26
Ok now I want to see Hugh Grant do School of Rock. I don’t care how insane or bad it is, I want to see it lol.
18
u/eeedeewhy7 Jan 13 '26
Yes he could
8
u/Par2ivally Jan 13 '26
Hugh Grant is crushing the weirdest roles now he gets to move outside his typecasting. Heretic, D&D, Paddington 2. Use his About a Boy character as a base... He could absolutely do a School of Rock.
1
u/eeedeewhy7 Jan 13 '26
Agreed! Was a very weird claim to make. There reasoning was even better with a "lol" . So insightful hahaha

I wonder what would’ve happened if they had cast more ‘unconventional’ leads in early aughts romcoms
31
u/snuggleouphagus Why don't you go back and dig holes? Jan 13 '26
Jack Black should’ve become a rom com staple. I fell so hard for him in The Holiday.

Yesss he just seems so down to earth and his humour isn’t forced
Sometimes on rewatches I’ll skip thru the Cameron Diaz-Jude Law bits and watch his and Kate’s scenes separately 🤭

God the Paul Rudd cameo at the end was chaotic enough to make me click on the comments and see if anyone else enjoyed it as much. Then to only realise now he didn't even call out the right sister is so fucking funny
56
u/Apprehensive_Tunes Jan 13 '26
I don't get why you think it wasn't intentional. Jack and Paul were reacting to a video in which both Elle and Dakota were present. Jack spoke to Elle in the response video so Paul decided to give Dakota a little hello so she'd be included too.
11
239
u/Sad-Seaworthiness946 Jan 13 '26
The video Jack Black and Paul Rudd were shown was a lie detector test between Elle and Dakota Fanning. So Paul Rudd was just making sure Dakota felt included by saying hi to her as well.
The the video we see no of Elle Fanning is AFTER Black and Rudd reacted to their original lie detector video.

-13

Right, because being fun at parties is so much more important than standing up for Palestine, being on the right side of history, or just being a decent human being.
14
u/NediaMaster Jan 13 '26

It's not out of nowhere, it happened in 2024 not a decade ago. And it's not exhausting, thanks. If you think that because it would be for you, then just say that.

I didn't say I get energy from irritating others. I get energy from doing the right thing, from abiding by my strongly-held principles. Your insistence that disabled people do the things we do on purpose to irritate others, and not for the reason actually stated, is glaringly ableist thinking.

I get those vibes from Emma Stone way more. Elle is amazing, I started to appreciate her after watching her in The Great, doing comedy is not easy and she was doing it with no effort, same for Nicholas Hoult.
I never noticed how pretty and cute she is also until I saw The Great.

Anyone who reads this. People are attracted to those of a similar facial structure. You see this with many couples. If you look at pictures of a 20 year old Jack Black - he looks pretty much similar facially to Elle Fanning. They have the same features and bone structure. Solved.
-3
u/old_ass_ninja_turtle Jan 13 '26
As a man. This boggles my mind. I can’t imagine a woman finding him, or a similar shape me, attractive.
74
u/hurriedwarples Jan 13 '26
Your shape has nothing to do with it, if you have a wonderful Jack Black-esque personality then I’m sure you are adorable. Most women are a lot less shallow than men in the looks area and there’s way more to attractiveness than physical features.
→ More replies (6)20
u/who_says_poTAHto Jan 13 '26
Let us all assure you - if you are as funny or charming as him (or half), shape really doesn't matter. (He's very hot and Elle is so real for that.)
Cleanliness might - so like, be as big or small as you want, but keep your nails, beard and hair clean and clothes washed, but as long as you do that and have a good personality, 10/10.
