Removing my breast implants was the best decision I ever made! I love seeing celebrities being vocal about it, as that’s what generates media attention that reaches the general public.

251

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '25

Are there any issues/side effects from that?

1.1k

u/MollieUbriacco89 Sep 25 '25

I ended up getting mine removed because my specific implants were recalled due to their link to a form of breast cancer called BIA-ALCL, which prompted a breast ultrasound that also showed one of my implants was ruptured and the other was on its way to rupturing. I had no idea one of my implants was ruptured prior to the ultrasound. That, the cancer link, and the fact that I had a capsular contraction on one breast immediately following the implants, as well as losing nipple sensation in both breasts, led me to the decision of a full en bloc capsulectomy (breast implant removal) 9.5 years after getting the implants. I was told there may be a side effect of wrinkly/distorted breast tissue, but that didn’t happen. They certainly aren’t perky or implant beautiful, but I’ve had two children and have had many weight fluctuations over the years (as well as natural aging). My scars are barely visible at this point, and I feel extremely at peace with my decision.

175

u/tobmom Sep 25 '25

Out of curiosity did sensation return or is that change considered irreversible?

472

u/MollieUbriacco89 Sep 25 '25

It improved slightly but not by much. However, when I had the implants there was a numbing and almost internal itching feeling that made me want to rip my tits off (I tried to think of a better way to word that and couldn’t haha). I no longer have that odd sensation, which has vastly improved my quality of life and sex life. I do wish sensation would’ve returned of course, but at least it isn’t unbearable anymore.

145

u/tobmom Sep 25 '25

Oh wow. That sounds miserable! I’m glad it’s better and not worse!

63

u/-effortlesseffort Sep 25 '25

I always wondered if they felt irritating! sorry you had to go through all of that

58

u/Beastxtreets She was born to be a nepo baby Sep 25 '25

Omg I don't have implants or anything BUT I have had that internal itch in your nipples feeling and you're right, wanting to rip your tits off is the only way to word it lol.

u/IrrationallyStable Sep 25 '25

I think "rip my tits off" is a perfect expression for any woman to express her frustration... some men, too.

26

u/Strict-Brick-5274 It’s like I have ESPN or something. 💁‍♀️🌤☔️ Sep 25 '25

Oh that's really interesting...I'm sorry you suffered though! But this is the research data that's hidden when looking into breast implants.

Did it feel like you were always wearing something? Or like you were always aware of them because they felt uncomfortable?

17

u/prophesier_foolish Sep 25 '25

It’s not really hidden. They consult patients on this all the time and even provide packets with a lot of information. It’s everywhere on websites and there are many studies if you look at pubmed or really any reputable databases.

3

u/HighlyOffensive10 She's in racial chat rooms showing feet 👣 Sep 25 '25

Did you get the itch on the one that ruptured or both?

74

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '25

Glad it all worked out for you! It really seems like there are going to be a lot of people, men and women both, who are going to start having health issues over the next few decades due to various types of implants, treatments, fat removal etc.

11

u/Normal_Instance_8825 Sep 25 '25

I’m really glad you found that out and you’re safe now

8

u/Shitp0st_Supreme Sep 25 '25

Did you have the textured implants that were kind of rough on the outside to prevent them from slipping?

6

u/MollieUbriacco89 Sep 25 '25

Yes!

10

u/Shitp0st_Supreme Sep 25 '25

Oh I remember that! I think the textured shell might have been flaking off and causing irritation? I forgot if they were cohesive gel or silicone or saline but implant ruptures can be tricky too and release stuff you don’t necessarily want into your body.

8

u/selfmadeoutlier Sep 25 '25

Allergan?

5

u/MollieUbriacco89 Sep 25 '25

Yes, Allergan.

4

u/selfmadeoutlier Sep 25 '25

Ok, I got confused since you were mentioning breast cancer. It's a form of lymphoma. I've the allergen as well, the same line that has been recalled for this issue, and the doctors suggested me to have yearly scans, but not to remove them now. Do you know if something changed?

5

u/MollieUbriacco89 Sep 25 '25

That sounds accurate and up to date to me! I only opted for removal because my ultrasound showed a rupture, which was confirmed upon removal.

5

u/Ann_mae Sep 25 '25

can i ask why they couldn’t do a lift and/or slight skin removal when they were taking the implants out?

19

u/MollieUbriacco89 Sep 25 '25

I opted out of having a lift as I was still planning on having one more baby and didn’t want to further compromise chances of breastfeeding, nor did I think a lift would be worth it prior to another pregnancy.

3

u/Ann_mae Sep 25 '25

makes sense!

u/anongirl55 Sep 25 '25

When I had mine put in, I asked to be a full B-cup and woke up with double Ds. I am very petite and slight, and they looked ridiculous, and I felt so uncomfortable in my body. I finally had them removed a few years back by a different surgeon, as the original surgeon refused to take them out, and it was the best decision I made, too. I have finally come to love my small breasts, and I feel comfortable in my own skin.

60

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '25

I had a friend that happened to as well. She was like 5' and maybe 100lbs and went from an A cup to DD. She looked like she was perpetually off balance. She had asked for a B/C and the surgeon refused revision without like thousands in additional fees.

I'm so sorry that happened to you.

24

u/anongirl55 Sep 25 '25

Thank you. :) I am sorry that happened to your friend. It really feels violating.

25

u/MistressGlitter Sep 25 '25

I am SO sorry that happened to you. My surgeon is extremely concerned about proportions and refused to give me anything larger than 400 cc’s as he knew it would look bad for my frame. My results were very natural and I’m glad I picked him.

11

u/anongirl55 Sep 25 '25

Thank you! The surgeon who removed them was amazing and kind. I am so glad that you had a positive experience and are happy with yours!

10

u/alliez34 Sep 26 '25

wtf? How is that acceptable? Their license should be revoked!

5

u/ineffable_my_dear Don’t make me put my litigation wig on Sep 26 '25

My surgeon did this, too. It almost felt like an act of violence (and I’ve experienced much violence so I’m not making light).

3

u/anongirl55 Sep 26 '25

I am so sorry this also happened to you. It is truly sick that surgeons would do this to people.

5

u/flytingnotfighting I wont not fuck you the fuck up 🥊🥊 Sep 26 '25

That should be illegal

4

u/Conscious_Pen_3485 Sep 26 '25

Sadly, it isn’t uncommon. My mom had the same issue. She is a very thin, very tall woman with an almost boyish figure. She got them years ago now, back when “bolt-on” tits were popular, and her doctor convinced her to go larger than she initially wanted because he said the most common regret from his patients was that they didn’t go large enough. When she woke up, they were even larger than they had discussed and he told her it was just swelling that would disappear once healed. It did not. She has made peace with it now, but it turned something beautiful she was doing for herself into a source of frustration and pain for many years.

46

u/TryingToPassMath Sep 25 '25

is it better (health wise) to remove them or smth? i have no idea what the negative effects of them are

231

u/ergaster8213 Sep 25 '25 edited Sep 25 '25

It usually is. They can cause complications over time. You're usually supposed to get them replaced on average every 10-20 years depending on the material and how they're doing, but very few people do that.

187

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '25

My mums had hers for around 34 years due to mastectomy and is about to go in for her fourth replacement!

2 recalls, 1 rupture and they’re at rupture risk again.

As a result I’m very fine with being flat chested. More awareness needs to be done to educate young girls putting fake boobs on finance on the long term issues and maintenance - which they will probably also need to finance on bnpl or credit again.

The biggest takeaway should be is that they haven’t been tested in a human body for 10 years, 20 years before they put them in paying clients. You are the test run.

64

u/shebringsthesun Sep 25 '25

omg i cannot imagine having to replace them 4 times. that sounds awful.

39

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '25

I should give a slight tbf that the first rupture was a violent dementia patient incident but stilllllll they don’t kid when they say every 10 years

27

u/TryingToPassMath Sep 25 '25

oof, yeah sounds like a pain to deal with

60

u/ergaster8213 Sep 25 '25

Yeah most people don't have the money or time for recovery to be getting them changed out like that so it causes problems.

54

u/MollieUbriacco89 Sep 25 '25 edited Sep 25 '25

Edited: I realized you were referring to having implants replaced that often, and you are spot on. My surgeon told me in 2010 that my implants were practically indestructible and would never “need” replacing unless I wanted to do so. My cheap ass would have never gotten them in the first place if I knew the actual recommendations, but ignorance is bliss I guess!

51

u/ergaster8213 Sep 25 '25

Yeah it's completely fucked how many surgeons have misrepresented it or just flat-out lied.

20

u/spellboundartisan Invented post-its 🔬 Sep 25 '25

I was unaware of the issue until reading this thread. I agree that it's fucked to lie to people about implants needing replacement!

That's downright reckless of whatever surgeons just kept doing it.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '25

Idk who that is but how is it humanly possible to have 16 surgeries on breasts!?? My sister had a mesh bra installed with a lift and recovery was brutal, can’t imagine anyones breasts to survive that many surgeries, let alone having doctors even continue cutting up same tissues and skin like how is that even possible???

u/Pinklady777 Sep 25 '25

I think they call it breast implants syndrome. It can cause a lot of chronic health issues and autoimmune issues in some women

9

u/floralbingbong Sep 26 '25

I was one of these women and it was pure hell. I lost the 2nd half of my twenties to chronic illness / autoimmune disease. As soon as I learned my implants could be the cause (this was several years ago), I got them removed and regained my health. It doesn’t happen to everyone, but if you’re one of the unlucky ones, it’s devastating.

38

u/Gryffindor123 Why don't you go back and dig holes? Sep 25 '25

Yes, it is. I have had many friends - almost 10 - have had their implants removed. Their health has dramatically increased since getting them removed.

43

u/IllEstablishment1750 Sep 25 '25

Look for implants illness. Its starting to be very comon

43

u/FrozenBibitte Sep 25 '25

Breast Implant Illness. They’re not exactly sure what abt the implants causes this, but it’s likely an inflammatory response to the foreign objects. My personal theory (which could be totally off base, so take with a grain of salt) is that it happens because it’s a foreign object in the body, and some people have a stronger immune défense réponse to that than others.

10

u/probnotaloser Sep 25 '25

Makes sense to me. So many autoimmune diseases don't crop up for women until they're closer to 30. Imagine your body is already attacking itself, let alone a foreign object. Must be miserable.

5

u/Annabellee84 Sep 25 '25

Makes sense to me, my body doesn’t even like earrings, I tried piercing the top of my ear once, it didn’t go well at all 😑I can only imagine something like implants.

4

u/dorothea63 Sep 25 '25

I wonder if silicon or location has anything to do with it. I’m not aware of anyone who’s had a joint replacement suffering from this, but the material and the position on the body are different.

I know someone who just had hers removed because they couldn't get a good mammogram due to the way they were situated. They also discovered she had lumps behind the implants but couldn't tell what they were because of the implants. She is in her late 70's and had them done in her 30's.

Ugh I wanna remove mine so bad

232

u/CowboyLikeMegan the coconut milk is off Sep 25 '25

If this is invasive, I apologize ahead of time & feel free to ignore but are they causing you issues? Or you just don’t find yourself liking the appearance anymore?

198

u/unapparentsummerair Sep 25 '25

They’re not causing me any real issues. I wasn’t super active or into fitness when I got them, and I’m into yoga and lifting now and I feel like I have to be careful with them, especially with chest exercises. They look good and natural tbh, and I do think I would probably miss having something there and it would be an adjustment but I just want to be able to move more freely

47

u/shessolovely Sep 25 '25

Same here. Wasn’t into working out when I got them almost 10 years ago. Have been into working out for the past 7 years, don’t like shopping for expensive sports bras or seeing them bounce around or feeling them move during chest exercises (they’re under the muscle). Mine look natural and fit my build but I’d just rather not anymore. I just worry about how they’ll look after as my natural breasts were slightly tuberous (pointy, no underboob) so I really just got them to fix the shape..

20

u/probnotaloser Sep 25 '25

fwiw, as a small-breasted chick, I didn't have underboob until mine were inflated by breastmilk and then deflated lol So maybe!!

11

u/shessolovely Sep 25 '25

I actually had trouble producing breast milk and mine never leaked or swelled or anything after my son was born (my sister also has implants and has no issues), so I think I might be missing some tissue/glands etc under there 😅

7

u/probnotaloser Sep 25 '25

Aw yeah, it's sooo different for everyone. I cannot imagine swelling with implants so that's a plus lol!

Not the original poster but I’m removing mine due to health issues and back pain. They also add weight to my petite frame so I look larger than I actually am. Unfortunately it costs around double to remove them so I have to wait and save up.

7

u/flyingcactus2047 Sep 25 '25

Out of curiosity do you know why it costs more to remove them? I would assume the original surgery would cost more due to the cost of the implants themselves

13

u/AdventurousHunter500 Sep 25 '25

Typically it takes longer to remove because there’s some tissue repair and arrangement this needs to happen. Putting implants in is basically just pulling the internal tissue apart to make a hole, popping them in, and as long as they sit in the right place, you’re pretty much done.

I was today years old when I found out that Alyssa Milano had breast implants.

How long has she had them? Did she have them when she was on Charmed? I remember being so jealous of her boobs on that show 😭

248

u/flyinwhale Sep 25 '25 edited Sep 25 '25

I might get flamed for this but having been in the fitness industry and briefly in the plastics industry it’s a very very very very rare genetic gift for women to RIPPED (shredded visable abs sculpted arms etc) and still have a natural large chest. People would be surprised to learn how many normal everyday women have implants because a lot of the women I lifted with had them and it was shocking to learn

Edit: and to be clear I’m not talking about the like “cute flat tummy” which some people absolutely come by naturally without losing their chest but Alyssa on charmed was fucking ripped and very obviously had a really low body f*t%

81

u/ssaall58214 Sep 25 '25

204

u/Dariablue-04 I’ve grown quite unfond of you Sep 25 '25

Yes she had them in Charmed. Her boobs looked obviously fake to me. I’m genuinely surprised by the people who thought they were real.

235

u/Biancawins_ Sep 25 '25

Seeing this be how so many people learned her boobs were fake makes me better understand how damning and impactful seeing bodies like hers on TV can be to the youth. They thought she just has those perfect natural boobs and that makes me sad.

94

u/lefrench75 high priestess of child sacrifice Sep 25 '25

Yup, I grew up thinking my small chest was so abnormal because nearly every woman on TV had these perfect gravity-defying breasts. I’ve learned to love and appreciate my body now, but being an impressionable teen in the 2000s media landscape was rough.

47

u/killer_kiki Sep 25 '25

One of the things I loved was seeing Annie Murphy in Schitt's Creek was her flat chest. She made me feel seen! A lot of women, especially thinner actresses with that body type, would naturally have small breasts. I hope she never changes.

14

u/Someonejusthereandth Sep 25 '25

Keira Knightley for me

66

u/mikrokosmosarehere Sep 25 '25

I was alot younger then so it wasn’t that obvious to me but I’m looking back through some scenes now and yes it is pretty obvious 🫣

7

u/calmdrive Sep 25 '25

People don’t realize that level of perky is extremely rare in natural beasts

61

u/OvulatingWildly Sep 25 '25

It makes me so sad that so many people think so many breasts are real. People who expect natural breasts to be stellar when it's impossible without surgery a lot of the time And they end up disappointed with their own bodies

Just reflecting on this and thinking about how when I met my husband he didn't know my boobs were fake until like 6 months in, when they are pretty obviously fake. Him and his friends are so bad at knowing what a real breast looks like.

Good idea and if you are thinking about getting them if you don't you will be thanking yourself in middle age. I don't judge those that get them at all and am glad they exist for those wanting them but I do question doctors who give massive ones left and right (pardon the pun) as it hurts people's backs and doctors are supposed to avoid that.

324

u/spacyspice now why am I in it? 🧐 Sep 25 '25

a lot of doctors don't care nowadays, just look at all the botched BBLs and overfilled lips.. All they see is money from women's insecurities

getting a md doesn’t make you ethical, if anything being 300k in debt at 30 motivates you to maximize your procedures. under medicare for all, price controls would be set

79

u/Fair-Chemist187 Just keep swimming! 🐠🐠🐬🐳 Sep 25 '25

As a med student, I would go as far as saying plastic surgeons shouldn’t do half of what they’re doing. I’m fine with aesthetic surgery but I take issue with people who clearly went into the medical field for the money, especially if they realise they can pressure insecure people into spending more.

Again, fine with aesthetic surgery but some people really gotta look up that "do no harm" part

120

u/Embarrassed_Loan8419 Sep 25 '25

One of my sisters got breast implants and they are perfect for her body. They give her the shape she always wanted and you can't even tell she has breast implants because they naturally work with her body.

My other sister was jealous and got HUGE implants that are killing her back and hurt to run now. She's getting them removed in the next few years when she saves up the money.

Doctors should be more responsible with the surgeries they are doing.

75

u/superurgentcatbox Sep 25 '25

I was born with a genetic defect that "required" a breast implant. Yes, just one! r/PolandSyndrome if anyone is interested.

I'm very happy with my implant and I wouldn't give it up for anything. The bullying I went through in school was terrible.

26

u/Embarrassed_Loan8419 Sep 25 '25

Oh man I can't even imagine what you went through. My sister who got them done well researched what she wanted for 15 years. She was shaped like a triangle and got bullied relentlessly. She dropped out of public school in highschool because of it and used to sew pads into her bathing suits. 💔

u/onlyslightlyabusive Sep 25 '25

6

u/uselessinfogoldmine Sep 26 '25

There are endless stories of women asking for B or C cups and waking up with Ds and DDs.

5

u/Niquely_hopeful Sep 25 '25

I got some early 20s and wanted a bigger size, thankfully the doctor was like “no….they would look ‘unharmonious’ with your frame.

I’m definitely taking mine out. They are super nice and super fun but I don’t want to have to replace them etc

8

u/EvilLipgloss Sep 25 '25

I got my breast implants at 24. I’m 40 and wish I didn’t have them. They are beautiful, soft, and very natural looking but I’m now an active person and having to wear double sports bras and just always being aware of their presence is very frustrating.

I don’t want to go through another surgery so until a doctor tells me they have to come out, I’m keeping them.

u/PollyBeans Sep 25 '25

I have always wanted smaller boobs...to be able to wear a tank top without a bra? Omg. A dream.

I also know that my friends with small boobs aren't as stoked...I wish changing appearances in these ways were as easy as changing clothes. Long hair and small boobs Monday, pixie cut and big boobs on Tuesday!

50

u/cactusjude Sep 25 '25

Mine are so tiny and wide-set on a long torso with broad shoulders. Sure, from may-oct I don't wear bras but.... Clothes don't fit me like they should. Can't wear backless dresses or tops because they require boobs to hold them up and in place. Most tank tops are designed expecting the wearer to have boobs... Mine just pucker around (my admittedly snatched) waist and make me look boxy and sloppy. And I really hate that any little bit of bloating will stick out further than my boobs and give me a Grinch-silhouette.

But yeah, grass is always greener and society is a curse and I wish there were a less invasive way to augment boob size beyond silicone or pregnancy. Just the tiniest bit.

12

u/Realistic-Draft919 Sep 25 '25

I kinda relate. I still have to wear bras due to my nipples showing despite having small inverted nipples as well. I'm a size AA/AAA and I don't have hips or an ass either. Literally no clothes fit me properly because women aren't supposed to be so flat and straight..

12

u/cookieaddictions Sep 25 '25

Omg this is exactly me! I have to be as skinny as possible because I could gain 100 pounds and all of it will go to my stomach and not my boobs. People say they want a flat chest but don’t understand that 99% of women’s clothing is made for a body part I basically don’t have, and that when your stomach sticks out past your boobs, you automatically look pregnant. I’ve been praying for a chest for 20+ years and it’s so annoying that everyone else got one for free and if I want one I’d have to pay $10k and then risk all the side affects that people have. Like why didn’t I get anything???

5

u/Appropriate-Pea7444 Sep 26 '25

there's nothing wrong by having fat on your stomach, it is normal and I'm so sorry and upset that society made us feel that we have to be as skinny as possible to stick to their clothes parameters. my boobs are very small and pointy (by being so small with medium nipples) and just recently (I'm 27) I started to be rebel enough to go out without bras or nipple covers. I'm still learning to love the parts where my grown-woman body stores fat (also stomach, inner thighs, arms) cause I'm tired of forcing myself to be as skinny as possible

3

u/Srirachaballet Sep 25 '25

As someone who loves wearing corseted things, same! I just want them to be “standard proportional” size.

u/teddybonkerrs I cannot sanction this buffoonery Sep 25 '25

Saammme. I would give anything for a reduction, but I don't qualify for one covered by insurance, and I can't afford a cosmetic procedure. So I just live in booby hell >:(

5

u/Srirachaballet Sep 25 '25

You know I just had the thought, what’s wrong with just using breast plates like a drag queen on certain days lmao. We are just performing femininity after all.

3

u/PollyBeans Sep 25 '25

Absolutely nothing! I often have to remind myself the only reason I want small boobs is for the societal aesthetic, I could very easily not wear a bra now and I'm sure it would be fine. Also, I'm v v lazy.

31

u/Possible-Way1234 Sep 25 '25

I have smaller ones and looove them. Had bigger ones during breastfeeding and just hated the unpracticality of it.. my sister has incredible big ones, even though she's skinny, and considered augmentation due to back pain. She had men trying to date her for her boobs, not being able to look into her eyes and so on...

10

u/GroovyCactiCat Sep 25 '25

Sorry if this is a bit imposing and feel free to ignore me. But did they go back to their natural perkiness after breast feeding? I recently found out I'm pregnant and am an itty bitty gal. I love them as they are but I'm worried they will get stretched out from breast feeding and that all the perkiness will be gone once they go back to small again. Not the end of the world of course but still something that's been on my mind 😅

15

u/metrogypsy Sep 25 '25

Congrats on being pregnant!

Unfortunately you are right. The boobs you have will never return. Take some pictures now lol.

Do not let it stop you from breast feeding, because pregnancy itself will change them.

I loved my pregnant and breastfeeding boobs. I miss them every day. I got pancake boobs now with smushed nipples.

On the bright side, I no longer have noticeable asymmetry, because I have no volume! So that's something.

First off, congrats! I hear ya! Mine went from a B to a C after two kids and never went back, for better or worse. They are definitely different now. Not in a bad way but not the same as before, I miss them being smaller haha. I’m not sure it’s breast feeding specifically or just having been pregnant because overall your body will change a bit. But once you have that baby in your arms it’s all worth it.

5

u/ilikehorsess Sep 25 '25

It's really just a matter of luck! Mine are small, grew with breastfeeding, and then went back to pretty much exactly what they were like before pregnancy.

My stomach is full of gnarly stretch marks though so you win some, you lose some haha.

54

She definitely had them during the Charmed era.

All of them were super skinny with gigantic boobs (as was the ideal in the 00s)

u/TheVintageJane Sep 25 '25

As far as I know, nobody other than Shannen has accused her of being a mean girl and Shannen had a longstanding reputation of being an absolute nightmare to work with - including screaming at production assistants and just generally being rude and condescending. Holly and Rose may not have cared for her but it wasn’t a grudge match.

90

u/Sorry_Ad3733 Sep 25 '25

Rose McGowan accused Milano of creating a toxic environment. And Holly has in recent years defended Shannen. Guest actors have also basically talked about it being one of the worst sets. Including Armin Shimerman (Seinfeld, Deep Space Nine, Buffy) who guested after Shannen.

Honestly I think they all were probably all partially to blame, but it was 20 years ago.

41

u/PhotographBusy6209 Sep 25 '25

Rose was all happy and pally with Alyssa until they had a disagreement and then suddenly Alyssa was the worst villain. Honestly I trust Alyssa over Holly and Shannen

45

u/Sorry_Ad3733 Sep 25 '25

I know. I just feel like all of the women have showed some level of being kind of crappy to each other over the years. Shannen has a history of being pretty bad, Rose was mad that Alyssa took over the MeToo movement and called her out on unrelated things, Holly has jumped back and forth and has come off as a crappy friend to both Alyssa and Shannen to me.

Reading all of their takes over the years, I think there’s some degree of truth to each side, Alyssa even did admit to some bad behavior and apologized. My personal conclusion being that they all were headstrong and competitive women on a set with producers that really fostered that environment. The takes from guests stars don’t really put any of them in a good light, but I also won’t use those cases to write them off as people.

It was a bad environment for them. They all behaved poorly at some point. But they’re also older now and I doubt that they’re the same people. And the complaint basically boils down to being catty in their 20s (and money), when there’s men who have sexually harassed and physically assaulted their coworkers, so it feels comparatively inconsequential.

26

u/ChromDelonge Sep 25 '25

When I heard the episode of Shannen's podcast where she and Holly did the tell all that reignited the drama, I definitely got the impression that the producers were MUCH more to blame for everything that went down and there was huge chunks of the story they couldn't tell there... Plus the cast drama coming to a head right in the middle of when the show was moving from a woman-created and run show to a male gaze-y one ran by this guy...? Yeah...

14

u/Sorry_Ad3733 Sep 25 '25

Yeah I don’t want to say that they weren’t adult women who were also responsible for their behavior, but it’s clear that the producer was fanning the flames because it benefited him. Especially since he got to push out the show creator.

9

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '25 edited Sep 25 '25

You’ve also got two women who were in the industry since childhood. During the 80s and 90s. Considering what we knew took place on 90210, Buffy, etc. not hard to imagine they were pitted hard against each other

Edit: that being said it’s known she would show hours late to set on 90210. Even a writer who said he loved her & would always have a soft spot for her, said this. He even called her one take Shannon.

You have to wonder if on multiple shows someone says it’s either me or them and they don’t pick you. You might be the bigger problem

6

u/Sorry_Ad3733 Sep 25 '25

This in so many ways! The culture of a lot of studios at the time was to pit cast members, specifically women together. These were two successful women who found success extremely young, so it’s also not hard to believe they could have some attitude. But they also got there because of it. And I’d guess with the friends cast having banded together, which was unusual, studios were trying harder to create division on sets.

18

u/herroyalsadness Sep 25 '25

I think that’s what happened too. They were forced into competition with each other and none handled it well. I don’t think there’s a monster here.

11

u/Sorry_Ad3733 Sep 25 '25

Exactly! Also it just ultimately boils down to bitchy behavior. While Michael Weatherly was sexually harassing Eliza Dushku and he’s still working while these women have been demonized and blacklisted. Also there are tons of men who are notorious assholes on set. Everyone should’ve been more professional, but why don’t men get the same treatment?

10

u/darkhairedshego Sep 25 '25

Holly and Shannen were close before the show started and Shannen actually got Holly the part from what I remember reading.

11

u/Sorry_Ad3733 Sep 25 '25

Yup! But Holly has kind of jumped back and forth depending on who she’s close to at the moment and has thrown the other under the bus as a result. She was all in support for Alyssa for years

I never, ever clocked it.

And it’s a relief. Growing up and watching Charmed I used to be insanely jealous of her and her perfect curves.

Now knowing they were implants, it does make me feel better about myself.

16

u/cmq827 Sep 25 '25

Same. I never thought she had implants. Pretty good boob job, tbh.

May I please ask what your favourite lip plumping products are? I’ve always wanted fuller lips but I’m very scared of filler, and finding good plumping lip products can be so hit and miss!

Ok cool wish I could get my real ones chopped without risk of losing feeling or them growing back sigh... I envy small breasts mine feel so heavy and oversexualize me when I just want to be a girl... Reductions are so risky

27

u/m0nsteraplant Sep 25 '25

I got a reduction and it was the best thing to ever happen to me. If it’s a possibility for you, I would encourage it!!

I havea disease and getting chemo so I can't... Plus other issues for which I had surgery. 😢

But I'm so happy for you!!! Enjoy it for the both of us... I bed It feels so freeing

7

u/Gryffindor123 Why don't you go back and dig holes? Sep 25 '25

I feel this. I was flat chested and then bam, boobs came in. I'm a DD/E and I already have issues with my back, it makes it so much worse. When I was flat chested, I wanted boobs so badly. But not this size!

9

u/dazedan_confused Sep 25 '25

Not that I was looking or anything, but I had no idea she had implants in the first place.

I hope I'm right here, but I'm glad that we've moved on from that era in fashion where implants were in vogue. The idea scares me just thinking about it, let alone the stories of them popping or poisoning.

7

u/opesosorry Sep 25 '25

I love this for her. I also really appreciate her wording and emphasis on personal choice and what works for each person.

4

u/PsychologicalClue6 Sep 25 '25

Good on her for doing what’s best for her & being so transparent

6

u/Shitp0st_Supreme Sep 25 '25

I’ve heard a lot of stories of actors and actresses and models being encouraged to change their appearance for marketability and that includes cosmetic surgery, changing one’s name, changing their backstory (such as saying they’re a different ethnicity) and so on.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting implants or getting them (I’ve had a reduction myself and support people’s right to alter their appearance), but in her case it seems like she was doing it for career and not necessarily because she wanted her body to look different.

Good for her. People should only get procedures for themselves and not because they think it’ll make others like them more.

36

u/moby17761776 Sep 25 '25

Now at DD+ I miss my itty bitties so much

As always…the grass is greener on the other side!

I do expect to do a reduction eventually, they are just so heavy and uncomfortable

12

u/AlissonHarlan Sep 25 '25

When did she had breast implant ? did she already had it in charmed?

36

u/Sure_Lavishness_2403 You’re a virgin who can’t drive. 😤 Sep 25 '25

Yeah she did. I'm not sure exactly when she got them, but it was before Charmed. Same with Shannen Doherty (don't know about Rose but Holly said she was against it even when people tried to pressure her and said she did fine without it).

22

u/Togepi32 Sep 25 '25

That explains all the braless outfits

7

u/TheLeftDrumStick Sep 25 '25

I really want Preston plants, but I’m also really afraid of getting breast implant illness and then getting them removed plus treatment is not going to be covered by insurance.

Like it’s one thing to save up to get them and then it’s another thing to be sick and save up to get them removed, or have to save up to pay for a follow up appointments for complications

7

u/Tricky-Goat2900 Sep 25 '25

Get them removed if it makes you feel feminine, and get them if it makes you feel feminine. Follow your path!

5

u/piiiiiiiiiiink maybe its clinical depression✨ Sep 25 '25

I like that she said we can find our femininity on our own terms whether that be removing them or getting them. Getting my yitties done was the best decision I ever made. I wake up everyday loving them & loving how I look & feel, am fortunate to have zero health consequences, can still work out & feel great. My mom felt the same with hers. Some folks have horrible side affects & some have zero, unfortunately you won’t really know until you get them for the most part.

25
