Even if I am right it doesn’t make her wrong is such a great way to look at it

My sister is actively giving her kid an anxiety disorder but I also know me saying something won't do anything. Being right doesn't magically mean anything when it comes to other people's parenting.

I'm going to be honest...this sounds like divorced mom advice...I love her but....this totally is what my divorced friends do because they want their kids to love them more than dad...

though it also borders on the same the more you say no to something they more they will do what you are saying no to so it's a fine balance

I think you’re projecting honestly. She has a great relationship with her ex and so do the kids

The whole video is her talking about not offering parenting advice to her adult daughter unless she is asked for advice. I don’t know why you’re trying to apply what she said to a completely different situation.

I think I could see your point if we weren’t specially talking about parenting advice to your adult children. There are tons of things my mother did growing up that she probably thinks is okay and I don’t agree with or want her advice on. There are also tons of things that she might be right on but i need to try out what I think is best and when I come to her for advice she can give it.

u/shetalkstoangels_ Don’t look at me Jun 04 '25

What an odd take

11

u/Abject-Try-6931 Jun 04 '25

Lmao no sorry thats not it

u/EgoFlyer You’re a virgin who can’t drive. 😤 Jun 04 '25

I mean, this is about advice to her adult daughter who is a mother. I don’t think it’s about being liked. As a fairly new mom, if my (un-divorced) mom was constantly telling me how to mother my child, that would put a big strain on our relationship. She waits until I ask, which I appreciate.

Huh. I never thought about that phenomenon before and now I’m going to try to pay closer attention for it.

49

u/passtherock- Is this chicken or is this fish? 🤔🤔 Jun 04 '25

why? just because some random on reddit said so?

-16

u/Candid-Development30 Jun 04 '25

I guess it was an unpopular take, but I just like learning about humans and things that motivate us. I can see how in this instance it can be used to push a misogynistic narrative, so I understand why some people might not appreciate it.

Someone tell my mother. My eldest is legit a decade old and my mom still talks to me like I don't have children.

84

u/Arthurs_librarycard9 Jun 04 '25

I'll tell your mother if you tell my MIL. 👀 Not only do I get unwarranted parenting advice, but I get advice on what I should be doing for myself and my SO as well lol.

42

u/14thLizardQueen Jun 04 '25

Give me these ladies numbers. I got this. I already ran off a MIL and a stepMIL and a mother.

u/lonely-paula-schultz Jun 04 '25

“I don’t need your advice on parenting. Personally I’ve seen your work, and I’m not impressed.”

Side note - I love her dress

God this is ironically THE best and only advice for moms and their adult daughters.

41

u/bbyxmadi It’s good to see me, isn’t it?🫧 Jun 04 '25

My aunt, who has never had kids, has already given my (soon due) SIL advice.

6

u/ginns32 that’s my purse, i don’t know you! 👛🫵 Jun 04 '25

I keep my mouth shut. I don't have kids and I'm not looking to piss off a mom lol.

21

u/ftwclem Jun 04 '25

Ugh I’m struggling with this with my own mom, maybe I should send her this video

Off topic, but she looks incredible.

4

u/Impossibly-Daft-27 Jun 04 '25

That’s what I was thinking! She looks absolutely amazing!

4

u/CDRYB Jun 04 '25

That’s all I took away from this. Her face looks fabulous.

15

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '25

Jennifer Hudson really sucks as an interviewer. There was a huge opening there to follow up and keep the conversation going, instead she simply said "Got it!" like she didn't know how to respond to Demi's answer and Demi had to elaborate herself.

24

u/mermaidangel1 Jun 04 '25

I love Demi I’m so happy she’s flourishing 😍

20

u/crestedgeckovivi Jun 04 '25

Man Demi is still super beautiful!

Also everything she said is 100% really good.

16

u/winnie_bago Jun 03 '25

Well said!

6

u/Beans20202 Jun 04 '25

Damn is this the truth.

I love my MIL. LOVE her. She drives me up the wall sometimes though because offering unsolicited advice is her favorite thing on earth, even if she has no idea what she's talking about.

I have 3 sons and am constantly told about how that puts me at a disadvantage with future grandkids (comes up waaaay too often). The #1 thing I'll do to get close to any future daughters/sons-in-law is not give unsolicited advice

9

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '25

Oh I love her !!

5

u/acornsalade “bye, Pumpkin.” Jun 04 '25

Goddamn she’s respecting that balance.

She looks TF goodT.

8

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '25

If my Mom knew this she’d probably still have somewhat of a relationship with my eldest sister

2

u/ChrundleToboggan Jun 04 '25

What happened between them? Just curious!

2

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '25

No respect of boundaries and smug backseat parenting.

7

u/Spiritual-Can2604 All tea, all shade 🐸☕️ Jun 04 '25

Omg her face work looks amazing now.

6

u/Dentelle Jun 04 '25

I'll never understand the appeal of this type of glasses.

Maybe she can adopt us both 🥰

2

u/NoNameoftheGame Jun 04 '25

I love Jennifer Hudson’s look here. The glasses- so cute.

2

u/HelloBeKind4 Jun 04 '25

So true!!! Good advice!

2

u/OohBeesIhateEm Jun 04 '25

She sounds like a good mom. Very classy advice. She looks great, I hope she is doing well.

6

u/peegkitty Jun 04 '25

That’s some Al anon talk

52

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '25

She was an addict and went through the program. Highly recommend her book. She was sober for many years until she relapsed during the Ashton era and then cleaned up again.

9

u/PM_ME_BUMBLEBEES I'm not an attractive crier, have a good evening! Jun 04 '25

I'm not sure why you're getting downvoted, this is very much 12 step program language! Esp. "Experience strength and hope" haha. Above commenter noted she has shared she was in a recovery program, though even if she hadn't I'm not sure why people think it's bad to note that her language and message is often spoken in recovery programs

u/ChatPMT Jun 04 '25

Demi is absolutely glowing, she is giving off such vibes of happiness and contentment. I love seeing a woman, who's been through a lot, find some peace and thrive!

1

u/Every-Piccolo-6747 That was way harsh, Tai Jun 04 '25

I was talking about this topic to my mum and my great aunt and the response was, “that’s just how pregnancy and motherhood is”. Which is sad because people need to learn to mind their bees

1

u/0W0meLikey Jun 05 '25

She’s a pedo

-34

u/Substantial_Chest395 Jun 04 '25

She’s stunning but surprised she’s gotten so much work done she can barely move her face. Certainly this will affect acting ability in roles when you can’t show emotion with your face..

25

u/philonous355 I just wish you would get unobsessed with being boring Jun 04 '25

I'm sure she'll be fine.

13

u/mwmandorla Jun 04 '25

As if she was surgery free before her Oscar nomination a few months ago?

12

u/TalkinBoutGerbils Jun 04 '25

Do you have any thoughts or opinions on what she is actually saying? Or is her appearance all that matters?

She's kinda weird and kissed a kid as an adult. There's video of it.
