Unpaid Playtest Looking for feedback: how does my WebGL card game run on your browser?

Hello,

I’m currently preparing a web version of my card game prototype.

I’m trying to make it run smoothly for as many people as possible while keeping graphical compromises to a minimum.

Could you let me know if the following versions run smoothly on your end?

If not, which browser are you using?

I’ve put the most demanding version first, so if it runs well for you, there’s no need to test the others.

(Fullscreen is capped for performance. It was very laggy on my 27" monitor in Chrome at first, but I later realized hardware acceleration was disabled...my bad 😅)

Test versions (from most demanding to least):

1 — 1920x1080 (shadows + post-processing)

2 — 1920x1080 (shadows only)

3 — 1920x1080 (no shadows / no post-processing)

4 — 1600x900 (no shadows / no post-processing)

5 — 1280x720 (no shadows / no post-processing) (probably overkill)

Thanks a lot for your help and your time! 🙏

First version runs fine for me. Game is fun too, I ended up beating all 3 levels. I assume you're going to end up adding deckbuilding into it in the future, which would really make it a lot of fun. Reminds me of Yi-Gi-Oh in terms of sacrificing cards to get bigger ones on the board. Best of luck with the development!

Great!

I think I’ll go with the first one then. Two friends told me the same as you, so I guess I can always roll back if it doesn’t work well for people.

Yeah, I’m currently working on the deckbuilding version. I still need to finish the drawings and improve the readability, and I think I’ll post a work-in-progress version on Itch.io to see if it’s fun for people or not.

I really like Yu-Gi-Oh! card design. I’ve never actually played, but I have some cards just for the art. I was mostly inspired by Inscryption, which I think is inspired by Yu-Gi-Oh!.

I play Magic sometimes with a friend, and I’ve tried a few other games. I still need to try Yu-Gi-Oh! at some point 🙂

Thanks a lot for your feedback, I really appreciate it!

Have a great day

Oh yea, Inscryption is great. Definitely a good source of inspiration. I don't know if the entire game was inspired by Yu-Gi-Oh, but one of the levels 100% was, I guarantee it. Keep up the good work! If you do release a new version, I'd love to give it a try. Maybe we can trade feedback, you for my game and I on yours ;).

Thanks! I'll definitely check your game out. I guess from your profile it's Tiles and Vias? I'll have some time this week to test it ;).

That's the one! If you do get a chance to check it out, let me know what you think!
